I've been going to this school to study animation for one year now, which has arguably been the best year of my life, and close to the end of the school year, we had to make a short animated movie together. The theme we were given this year was "The double 20s", and the idea was that we were supposed to either look back to the 1920s or look at current times and make something based on that. In the end, we decided to look into a possible future.
As a suggestion, our teacher gave us the opportunity to make a video to a song that a band had asked our school if we wanted to do something with. When we first heard the song, I think it was clear to say that the most of us were sceptical about the song, but before long, and after the class split up into 3 groups to each come up with an idea for the project where the group that wanted to use the song won, we started to really like the song and the world that was forming around it.
First came the idea of the "thief", and so, Hope was born!!
After that, the world started taking shape...
And soon, we had a story!
At the start, the whole class project was intended to be just under one month long, but almost became a two month long journey.
For me personally, this project was a blessing, I learned so much and got so much closer to my classmates that it became an experience that I wouldn't trade for the world! I got to grow as an animator, get alot of experience being the coordinator for most of the project and finally being the main lead in post-production. It was tough as hell but I loved every second of making this movie.
