Inuyasha grunted in affirmative, then realizing he most likely couldn’t be heard above the explosions and sounds of war he ushered out a plain, “Okay,” before taking off for the dense looking wilderness. As he began a rapid pace of dashing from tree limb to root, and they wound their way deeper and deeper into the wood, the half demon took note of the strange oddity he began to feel about their new location. Something was off about this place…and it reeked of death. His instincts told him to get the hell out of here, but where else would they go?
He’d lost track of the time, had they been running for hours? Days? it must have been a long period, because despite his power his legs were beginning to tire, and strangely he was almost out of breath. Scenting the air he came to the conclusion they were far enough away to stop a moment, the noise had long since disappeared save for very distant rumbles which to anyone else could have been the weather.
Uncharacteristically his chest heaved quickly, long winded breaths came from him as he bent on one knee to let her down. The muscles in his arms quivering and shaking from the exhausted rush to safety. Damn…he couldn’t ever remember running so fast or long before. Even when they were after Naraku he hadn’t pushed himself so bad.
“Damn…” Inuyasha pushed himself back to his feet and let his anxious hands rest on the tie at his waist, “What the hell was all that?!”
the pressing shove to her inner spirit is more than enough to warn of the fates of souls plaguing the forest. there’s nothing to be seen in the dimming sunlight, but she’s aware enough to feel the presence of the foreboding danger surrounding them.
the distant vibrations beneath her shoes remind her of the rest.
and as she steps onto the crackle of fallen leaves, she offers him enough space to catch to his breath and worry on her lips. she knows he’s about to bombard her with questions, so she needs her own air to clear to answer as best as she can. she’s unsure of quite a few things, herself.
leaning back against a tree, she rewinds her memories until they stutter to a pause just before the alarms rose.
and her voice is as somber as it never had been.
❝ ── [ xxx ] finally shot their missile. missiles, to be exact. the government had only calculated a single shot, but they missed a unity from the nations underground.. and.. ❞ the trunk she slides down against bites crudely against her spine, legs sprawled off to her side while she continues. ❝ well. we got hit. apparently, our country had their own allegiance to the terrorists and they arose soon after. all of this told to us as we laid hundled under our tables listening to some old radio cupped in my teacher’s hands.. ❞
her voice drifts off, lethargic, heavy. eyes shift to sight the hanyou in her vision.
❝ i’m sorry. the well’s ruined. you won’t be able to get back anytime soon — ❞
