Corselet of Tutankhamun

The king wears the blue Khepresh crown and is accompanied by the god Atum and the goddess Iusaaset, his consort.

The scene is dominated by a sun disk made from carnelian from which two cobras emerge. The figures are made from gold with inlays of semi-precious stones, ivory, and glass paste.

2,300-Year-Old Mummy Unveiled in Saqqara near the Pyramid of Teti

The 2300 year old mummy wearing a golden mask was discovered at Egypt's Saqqara Pyramids complex south of Cairo in May 2005. The mummy is unidentified from the 30th dynasty, had been closed in a wooden sarcophagus and buried in sand at the bottom of a 20' shaft before being discovered by Louvre’s Saqqara excavations team.

The identity of the mummy is unknown but it is believed that it is from the 30th dynasty (380-343 BC). The ancient Egyptian was probably wealthy owing to the fine gold used to make the mummy’s mask and the location of the burial.

Vlad Țepeș, the voivode of Wallachia, demands that the Brașov council return the confiscated steel to his man, Dimitru, or refund the money for it.

Contextualization

Due to the absence of a specific year, contextualizing the document is highly problematic. However, the following conclusions can be drawn indirectly: with Wallachia's (re)entry into the Ottoman sphere of influence, the export of weapons from Hungary via Brașov became increasingly difficult and, during periods of tension, was completely halted. It is likely that this document was issued during a period of strained relations between Vlad and the Brașov council, for example, during the Wallachian incursions into Transylvania (1456–1459). Hypothetically, a connection can be established with the ban issued on April 3, 1459, by King Matthias Corvin regarding the sale of weapons to Wallachia (cf. STOICESCU; no. 105) or with the confiscation of Wallachian merchants' goods (cf. Dan's charter, no. 15a-b). Full on Patreon:
