Hi everyone! This blog is more of a personal documentation. My memory is not all that good so to have a place where i jot down all my thoughts about this wonder work has been really nice aswell as very helpful!! Of COURSE I’m disappointed I couldn’t finsh the reread until 4/13! I’ll have to bake some betty crocker branded cakes to cheer myself up, hehe. In all seriousness, I will totally get back to this one day, I was always gonna reread Homestuck soon, this just gave me a starting off point and a reason!

Homestuck.com has been down, along with the mirror Literally Just Homestuck i’ve been using this whole time, and i’ve grown frustrated. Technical difficulties is the main contributor to why im quitting, but I can’t lie and say I will enjoy the free time! I have another project with a deadline and school work so it’s all started to pile up quite messily @_@;

I’ll use the same reading schedule and read more Homestuck when i have time and post my thoughts here!

John: Locate Tumor.

The Tumor is one of my favorite parts of Homestuck visually. Huge in size always shown with the characters for scale, a huge bomb in their battlefield, there is no ticking or any obvious signs of danger, yet its ability to wipe so much life out is horrifying, it’s just so cool :D!

The visual gag of John just being able to put this huge bomb just in his wallet is so good.

It’s implied that all the guardians are aware of Sburb and the reckoning to some degree, which I find very fun to theorize about, Grandma Jade telling Jake that she is a Witch of Space, her classpect.

WARHAMMER OF ZILLYHOO!!!! One of my favorite weapons, all the Zillyhoo weapons for that matter, just so cool!

The beauty of Zillyhoo.. a marvelous sight to behold indeed. ( I was under the impression that John and Gamzee made out in this flash.. probably comes later. )

You can tell Hussie had alot of fun with these John panels, the last panels in this sequence look gorgeous, aswell as all GodTeir John panels from here on out.

The bright blue skies of Skaia is covered in furious dark rain clouds, the black rain running her Mother’s spilling blood, black, the only light that can pierce her darkness is the lighting made of Rose’s sorrows and rage.

You know the drill time to pull out my Homestuck books!

[S] Seer: Descend. along with the proceeding flash are my second favorite of the Homestuck games, my first being OpenBound of course. The dramatic irony of it all, Rose knowing their parents are gone but through her curse can’t communicate this to a helplessly obvious and optimistic John, who is just so happy to see her.

( too lazy to fix the cropping lmao )

John’s sprite looks much better in his GodTeir, he looked a little goofy in a bad way before hehe! Rose looks gorgeous of course, she looks so put together and elegant despite being grim dark.

At a later date I will search for a translation for Rose’s GrimDark language.

The white queen and king having their love immortalized in a golden castle, showing them entering the new universe hand in hand. For now they are safe while exiled, but we know Jack will make quick work of them :(.

Jack destroying all of the Beta Kids banners except Jade’s, biologically sworn to loyalty. “Bad dog, best friend.” - Andrew Hussie

John’s silent realization, Rose having no choice but to lead him to his fathers corpse without any warning, alongside her mother, yet they have no time to give, the killer, he is already here.

A slow melancholic violin with a steady beat that resembles that of a slowed heartbeat. This track is slow and uneasy, such as John’s reaction to the tragedy in front of him, zooming into his bright gentle blue eyes.

Rose and John get ready to fight, but like everyone else, they don’t stand a chance. However, John has a GodTeir’s immortality to fall back on. Rose watches John die infront of her, with her parents gone and Dave and Jade distanced, John is all she really has in this moment. Her vision of his fallen body blackens as her eyes blur the scene, she is filled with a new kind of rage and sorrow, all over again.

My favorite Pesterlog!

Dave in an futile act against heroism doesn’t just take the sword out of bro’s chest, instead he tries to do some sort of ninja move of kicking it out of him, he fails miserably in the most uncool way possible.

Terezi standing over Nepeta’s body is a nice parallel to Dave standing over Bro’s corpse, they even have matching shoes!

Terezi’s ace attorney references are really fun btw! >:]

The weird little downstairs room Terezi falls into via boobytrap looks REALLY cute in 3d, the architecture is also very human, which makes it a bit jarring for the trolls to be in?

[S] Terezi: Play records.

Really fun detective related tunes. Also! The record player is very visually appealing, the color of the middle of the record changing with each song, the low quality pixelated look to it, with the yellow overlay paired with the drawn on white shine, just looks really cool!!

Pixel Lil Cal is precious.

Mindfang going blind from the sun giving Vriska the idea to do so to Terezi is such a cruel spin on their narrative.

[S] Seer: Ascend.

Dave: Ascend to the highest point in the building. and [S] Seer: Ascend. Both parallel eachother in such cool ways. Aswell as Terezi and Vriska now perfectly paralleling their ancestors, Redglare brought Mindfang to justice, but the question remains, can Terezi bring Vriska to justice? The art here is nothing but beautiful, aswell as the track resembling Dave’s from his flash, but with Terezi’s own flare to it.

“I wonder if he still 8elieves she was worth it?”

Mindfang wonders that The Expatriate may regret the mercy he showed The Disciple in letting her go free. This has horrifying implications with Nepeta and Equius. Equius swore to protect Nepeta yet by letting himself be killed he put her in danger, showing that his true allegiance is to the Hemospectrum, the same very regime that put the one he wanted to protect down.

Doc Scratch is whatever inclination of him the Ancestors had cannot see The Expatriate because he is a void in his line of sight, because of his void powers of course, how cool!

Mindfangs infatuation with The Summoner parallels with Vriska’s infarction with Tavros in very interesting ways.

“8y taking his will, or winning his heart?” The bluebloods will always have their own motives for catching the bronzebloods in their webs, always with malicious intent. They will stop at no one to put their means to an end, manipulating whoever stands in their way.

I enjoy the fact that Mindfang finds the tale of The Sufferer “compelling”.

“If this hero is meant to 8reathe life into my em8ittered heart, and if he is to earn the right to run it through, then so 8e it.”

Mindfang giving up her glorious life to be changed and taken by The Summoner.

The Trial of Vriska Serket. Vriska is the Defendant, Terezi is the Prosecutor while Gamzee is the Juror.

These flashes are so cool, I really enjoy the dramatics of Vriska’s roleplaying, and how Terezi is so totally over it. Vriska strives for revenge while Terezi brings Justice. Their dynamic is so interesting to me, they’re just so fun. Terezi’s hellbent on the belief that Vriska murdered multiple people, despite her only killing Tavros, while Vriska is more confused than anything, and starts breaking character the more frustrated she gets. The bit of Vriska bluntly denying Gamzee’s murder because he is literally infront of the two is objective funny.

Vriska breaking character is emphasized by the cd getting even more glitched out, the less she takes this seriously the less we get to see.

Terezi knows from her Mind powers what will happen if Vriska goes and fights Jack, she may get killed but worse their hiding spot will be revealed by her trail of pixie dust. Vriska disregards this claim, the glory of fighting Jack overshadowing her already small desire to be cautious or at this point strategically sound.

Doc Scratch’s name is revealed to mean doctoring the scratch, very fun!

“The only true friend you have ever known.” Did the midnight crew mean NOTHING to you SS!!!!

Jack Noirs animalistic urges that come with a dog are an aspect I find really fun about him, aswell as his loyalty to Jade being crucial for their survival.

Jack Noir still bickers with DD just like the old days, they both tick eachother off yet understand eachother completely, all the midnight crew’s dialogue with eachother is really fun, each pairing you can create. ( ALSO the visual of DD wapping Jack with his porn ( Grey ladies?? ) newspaper is comedy gold, and is just cute.

“Your name is Aradia Megido, and for the first time in your life, you feel truly alive.” Aradia when she was alive, was merely surviving, sure she had friends and hobbies but she was surviving under the classist hierarchy of the Hemospectrum, which said she was the lowest and was treated as such. Now Aradia is freed from the shackles that Alterina so unfairly placed on her, she’s alive, risen anew as god, but most importantly, her true self.

I love the whole regaining your memories and learning you’re in a dreambubble, while doomed or asleep, it's such a fun concept!! Having to backtrack on your memories and learn that you’re not an the alpha timeline can be a scary thing, and Aradia is there to hold your hand through these tough times!!

My favorite Panel!

The Aradia panels from her fight with Jack are nothing but beautiful. Aradia is very pretty and striking in Hussie’s style, so every panel with her is a treat! I am choosing this one solely because of its density, Araida teleporting, no doubt choosing the right time that he has a flash of a portal, his slow processing that leads to a simple confused question mark is just perfect comedic timing.

Jade getting to meet Kanaya in person!! To which all Kanaya wants to talk about is Jade’s outfit. Kanaya says bright colors suit her better, which is very sweet coming from her! Kanaya is troll goth, therefore is fascinated by the counterculture fashion of bright colors, and to say her preferred fashion style fits Jade is really fun!

Oh my god did Tavros write his unconscious code on the wall with the ooze that came out of the poor flarp bear's stomach??? Bluh!!!

Oh my god Vriska writing her lines of the code with her own blood from her eye and arm got blown up?? I wonder how much blood the trolls can truly bleed and if it depends on blood color? That’s so badass and hardcore and like tragic at the same time?? The desperation of all of her actions in this time in her life, truly was given a 8ad 8r8k, mostly of her own making.

AradiaBot keeping the hat on is a very cute touch.

Gamzee’s messily written honks written in the substance he so helpless abuses is such a heartbreaking visual.

Doomed Terezi and Karkat, dying side by side, their teal red blood painting the walls while their blood swirls together.

Baby Doc Scratch! What a handsome little lad.

His little bowtie adjustment is my pfp on my main tumblr blog! I just think he’s neat.

Spades Slick’s brute force assaition attempt being put to a hault by Doc Scratch, he tries to reason with him politely, almost belittlingly so, is very funny to me, sighhh my two favorites from the Midnight Crew arc! What handsome gentlemen hehehe.

Doc Scratch being, for the lack of a better word, inhumanly strong is a very fun concept. I wonder if he has any muscle at all? It’s more likely for him to just be a lanky twink who is just REALLY strong, which I also enjoy.

I wonder if all of the midnight crew has a candy linked to them, I remember something about Hearts Boxscard and candy red lips? Anywho, Spade’s affection for scottie dogs will always be cute to me, him silently stuffing his pockets with the bottomless licorice.

I am a sucker for Scratch without his jacket on, his darling button up and suspenders.. swoon!

The visual gag of Spades taking advantage of the endless amount of candy by pouring it in his hat is very fun, along with the text contrasting against the silly shenanigans, being Scratch saying he’s going to beat him severely.

I wonder if there's a not creepy reading to this, I believe he means he enjoys their qualities, examples being prominently Rose, Vriska and Damara. Qualities such as their brash, blunt and headstrong emotionally charged actions. Doc being omniscient after all, it’s easy to grow bored, but he finds young ladies interesting for their desire to challenge that status quo.

THIS BIT IS TERRIBLE HUSSIE OML LMAFO??

The darkly lit scene when Rose looks into the cue ball foreshadows that looking into the future, seeing her mother’s corpse will drive her to be GrimDark. It is such a good use of visual storytelling and foreshadowing, good shit man!

I haven’t stated this before, but I enjoy how Doc is able to text the kids with a typewriter!! Very cool implementation, aswell as how Terezi was able to use it with her mind, very cool! >:]

Rose’s light has come to her! Unlocking her godly powers within she is able to see the world through the eyes of a seer.

Rose is so real for this.

Also, an animation of this scene I'm very fond of! Go check out their stuff!

My poor Rose, this is the most emotion she’s undoubtedly shown in a long time, going from cold and detached, to wrathful and a force to be reckoned with. She’s entirely too young for this, they all are, poor girl.

My favorite Pesterlog!

Rose chose to keep the belief that her mother was once again in her own world, always two steps ahead of Rose, she chose to believe that she can self-sustain and doesn’t need to be looked for, because how could her mother ever die, she’s simply above such a simple death. Yet horrible circumstances overtook, she could have survived most likely would have, if they hadn’t been cursed with Jack Noir.

As Jade says, her and her mom had a much trickier relationship than John and his dad. Rose kept to herself and so did her mother, she resents how angsty she was to her mother, how she didn’t think finding her was necessary, because why wouldn't she be okay? It’s so tragic yet completely reasonable of someone in Rose’s circumstances.

All the murders making their presence known is horrifying, especially so for Karkat, the lasting magic wafting through the air, askew fairy dust and sporadic honks filling the cold desolate lab.

TEREZI’S WAY OF FINDING FINGERPRINTS IS A SIGHT TO BEHOLD FOR SURE.

Terezi’s little notes of pretending she doesn't know Vriska is the perpetrator for fun is twisted but cute in a way?

Terezi ripping the Lance from his Torso, grimacing from the stench of his rotting blood is such a cool visual.

Karkat’s kiss to bring back Kanaya is so tender, his bright red tears streaming down his face, in hope that she’ll come back to him, how heartbreakingly sweet.

Hussie and Dante Basco Yaoi is my favorite things ever by the way. I should draw them some day.

I wonder how Dad Egbert dropped his wallet? Did he leave it for John to catch up to him? Is this foreshadowing his death?

DAD EGBERT HAS A COMICAL AMOUNT OF SHAVING CREAM. IF HE BUYS BAKING SUPPLIES EVERY DAY ALONG WITH HAVING TO COLLECT ONE TON OF SHAVING CREAM HOW MUCH MONEY IS HE MAKING AT HIS JOB? The only math question that actually matters.

The mayor finding the black and white shaving cream container attractive is VERY cute, we love unity!!

The mayor gets the best panels, so sporadic and fun I love them SO much.

Not only does Dad Egbert have a picture of his son in his wallet, the picture of John is FRAMED aswell, best dad of every year, ever.

So apparently what happened at CIRQUE DU SOLEIL not only embarrassed John but also Dad Egbert? The biggest and only mystery that matters in Homestuck. I’m totally gonna look at Hussie’s notes on these pages in the book btw, he BETTER fess up or at least give some hints /J. Knowing Hussie he has vague ideas floating around but not an actual answer.

Imagine Dad Egbert taking these pictures, having to squat to get to his height, getting just the right angle of his baby boy, absolutely beaming with fatherly joy.

Some of his photos having puns on the back is adorable?? Dad Jokes how I love you.

DADLY DEPOT MENTION!!!! The paradox space comic about it was one of the first Homestuck comic dubs I watched. It's so cute and covers one of my favorite HS concepts of Dad vs Bro’s parenting, how it affects the boys and how they perceive their parenting aswell, good shit.

The fact that the Beta kids are just SO young, John freshly and the rest recently turned 13 years old. John will never be taught by his Dad how to drive and so many other bonding activities that are right of passage of growing up. Dad Egbert has cards prepared for each of these moments, saying how proud he is of him, John got these cards too early or in a backwards way, which only makes his lost more terribly bittersweet.

Imagine if the Mayor didn't put his seatbelt on and got unceremoniously thrown out the window.

I wonder why Jade doesn't recognize WV, from Prospit and from writing him a letter, confirming she knows of him!!

The driving shenanigans are really cute btw.

Homestuck au where Mayor actually ever put the FUCKING ring on, but also at the same time is his refusal to do so a act of democracy instead of confroming to tyranny or monarchy.

THEIR LOVE IS LITERALLY WRITTEN IN THE SKIES. THEY’RE SO CUTE IT’S CRAZY.. two survivors finding solace in eachother.

Karkat’s dying message to John apologizing for being an asshole to him and his friends and that he hopes he'll be a better leader than he was is really sweet, he's so terrified, I need a comic of him going to therapy on Earth C over this.

Karkat pulling Sollux’s limp body, eyes bulging out, no doubt hyperventilating, listening for that fatal honk.

Ok Karkat dropping Sollux was bound to happen, it’s the PERFECT time for a callback, but god does Sollux’s descend into irrelevance piss me off.

Karkat locking in so fast will never not be funny, from falling on his ass down a flight of stairs to pulling out his laptop to answer his messages with his default sprite face.

The fact that Karkat doesn't even know where Sollux’s teeth are placed makes this moment even more morbidly hilarious.

Kanaya bleed a fuck ton holy shit.

Kanaya first upon waking drank the corpse's blood, i wonder if Feferi’s blood tasted good? It’s her blood right after all!

I don't have access to my books for now so.. Let’s read Homestuck, it is!

Also, an obligatory plug for [S] Equius: Seek the highb100d.! :3 Good spin-off comic, go read!

Equius and Nepeta are genuinely so cute.. Using this as a self promo for me and the moirail.

Equius reassuring Nepeta that he will be safe while seeking Gamzee, but still giving a final goodbye just in case, to which Nepeta shares the sentiment and tells him she’ll see him soon, and she’s not entirely wrong in that regard, just worse circumstances than she intends.

I wonder if Nepeta has to pour the tea into Equius’s mouth? Because his hands would shatter the cup right, are his lips that strong that it would shatter it aswell?? Um???

The fact that Nepeta knows all of Terezi’s really contrived plushie names!

Skaia is so marvelously pretty, this shot making it seem more forest like is just really cool.

My favorite Pesterlog!

Vriska Serket’s lament after killing Tavros Nitram.

Tavros and John have little tidbits alike about eachother, one thing Vriska reminds me about is they are alway too late. John is late to mend his relationship with his dad before the game started, to be able to meet up with his dad, too late to save prospit Jade, John is late for poetic dramatic reasons, while for Tavros he is too late to his personal aspirations and needs, his lateness shows his cowardice.

I made this comparison earlier, but this monologue from Sans and Vriska’s sentiment parallel eachother, they both, in some one or another, present the question of redemption.

Vriska hopes her guilt will be lessen after confessing her sins. She tries to repent her sins to John, in a way, trying to be more human, as in apologizing and learning from your past mistakes and improving upon yourself accordingly. This scene is a very bittersweet moment for this but especially Vriska, explaining to an alien the complexities of your moral dilemmas but your cultural differences ruins his understanding of the context of how the social hierarchy works as well as your need for survival. Yet despite this he is able to see her intent, John can tell that Vriska wants to be a good person. However, just like JOhn and Tavros before her, too little to l8!!!!!!!!

I have this line of thinking quite frequently aswell. I believe wholeheartedly that Karkat would have been better off being a human. All of his insecurities came from not fitting into the hemospectrum and therefore society, to cope he entranced himself with films and coding and numerous other interests like romance, and glorified and romanticized the idea of joining the Alternian army. All of his struggles are less interpersonal and circumstantial, and because of this fact I think he could flourish in humanity!

Baby Vriska!!!!!!!! My poor baby girl.

I wonder if Vriska means this in earnest? Anywho, Vriska if she is being insincere, she’s still being sensitive to John’s experiences, people forget that Vriska is actually pretty personable, instead of belittling him for comparing their situations as Karkat might have, she listens and responds intently.

I find John and Vriska’s relationship utterly captivating. The way John drives Vriska to be a better person despite how she grew up, the way she strives to be more “human”. Vriska, of course pacing and story wise, should have died at this moment. ( AND STAYED DEAD FUCK THE RETCON. ) And Doomed John and Vriska’s relationship addresses this, but it would have been sweet to see them give their relationship i go.

Aradia is learning how to walk people through their dreams! She guides Dave from his 12 year old self to now, getting him to remember little things like his location and what he’s wearing, to where he is practically exactly like how he is in the present, so he can process this is infact a dream and can talk to Aradia calmly.

As I suspected, this is Doomed Dave, Aradia takes the role of walking the recently deceased to understand the afterlife. I wish Feferi and Aradia talked more, their relation to the dreambubbles are very interesting to me, aswell as them in general!

Ok Tavros’s sick fires sprite is so cool, the dork ever omg.

One of my favorite Araida moments. She finally takes charge of her life and regains her agency and liveliness along with a general zest for life. This panel is just so sweet, good for her. <3

John doing the windy things panels... so fucking cool you dont even understand.

Mom Lalonde's little smile during their date omg!! Dad Egbert is taken aback at how much wine she can put down, but still asks if she would like more like the gentlemen he is, he also serves her some of his cake!! So cute.

“They have everything because they have eachother.” Their relationship is so sweet, a great chance of pace from the romantic dramas of the kids, just two middle aged parents, finding solace and comfort in eachothers presence.

All of the ancestor panels are absolutely gorgeous by the way.

Vriska and Eridan’s parallels to their ancestors, are uniquely cool to me because of their deviation to said ancestors. Their panels together is result are always very fun, their dramatic flare, playing in their roles, it’s so perfect.

Neophyte Redglare!!! She’s so pretty omgosh.. I find Neophyte Redglare and Marquise Spinneret Mindfang to be soso interesting and cool... old women yuri WHAT WHO SAID THHAAT.

[S] 3x SHOWDOWN COMBO.

The ethereal, cathedral track that starts off this showdown, completely desolate. All of the killers in a showdown, and the illuminated lady who will soon bring them retribution approaches. The painted scenes are so beautiful, the detailed ancestor sprites being nothing but breathtaking, all of the art is so beautiful here, this is just such a perfect flash.

A staggering Kanaya, brought back from the dead, her bleeding wound is being soaked up with her killer’s cape. This panel is so pretty, aswell as this whole sequence, so visually appealing.

Her stagger has becoming a sprint, she’s doing what must be done.

Kanaya kicking Gamzee so hard that his shoes pop off, also of course he doesn’t wear socks, ewwy gross!

Kanaya taking away the visual reparations of the killers power, Gamzee with Equius’s glasses and Nepeta’s hat, Vriska with her GodTeir hood and Eridan’s wand.

Rose’s logo being broken like Daves? Was this foreshadowing for a new low?? Dave’s broken record, one, record’s can be broken so that helps make it make sense aswell as being beat so hard even his shirt logo broke. Rose’s logo being broken probably is just a one off gag and i'm looking too hard into probably.

Rose my fem queen!! Rose saying the suit’s uncomfortable and that she misses her skirt, how cute.

MS PAINT IS HERE!!!! And in the Three In The Morning Dress! God she’s so pretty. Swoon!

Rose hating Lil Cal so much that despite her poetic talents, she can only express a simple fuck you at Cal, is so perfect.

I would love to dissect the anatomy of a typewriter, I completely do not understand them. What does ribbon do? The things I would do to write with a type writer.

I’m still not reading the Recap, sorry not sorry!

Jade trying to help JadeSprite, she’s very apologetic and sympathetic at first, but little lines JadeSprite says like forgetting John starts to tick Jade off a bit, JadeSprite is completely uncooperative when they need help, and Jade is getting tired of her whole ditzy selfish princess deal.

Sidenote: Just realized Jade’s jacket has squiddles buttons, how cute is that!

Is Jade expressing her anger productively in a way that will get through to JadeSprite? Not in the slightest! But hey, Jade has spent her WHOLE life being nice and caring, and to have a version of you who’s selfish and childish thrust upon you? I don’t blame her for getting so frustrated, good for her finally letting off some steam!

However, her displays of anger and brute force piques a certain troll's interest.

I wonder why the text previews in the panel with the trolls logo, why some of them are inverted? Such as the background being black instead of white, any reason despite aesthetic purposes?

Jade being so pissed at dealing with JadeSprite she’s even happy to talk to Karkat.

OH MY GOD I DIDN’T THINK KARKAT WOULD GET ANY HUSSIE MODE SHOTS, ESPECIALLY THE HEADSHOTS. Oh what a handsome boy :3. The blue of the fourth wall reflecting on him is also a nice touch, Vriska white talking to John is shunned with Green while Karkat talking to Jade gets blue, fun detail that matches with their shirt logos! :D

Karkat is genuinely so unserious sometimes, and it always catches people off guard, this moment is just adorable, Jade’s little giggle, are you KIDDING me.

OHHHH I get it, Karkat’s comparing himself and his future self OUTRIGHT to Jade waiting for her to get it, he’s being a smug asshole, feigning interest in an effort to exaggerate his eventual comparison.

Karkat was so freaky for this /J. Despite this panel template being ugly as all hell, it’s just very funny in concept.

The following panel of Karkat fanning away the thought of Jade selfcest is also adorable?? Whoever drew the Karkat scribble panels deserve a raise; they're just so perfect everytime.

The mayor being turned into Jack, having his people look upon him as if he was the monster against his will causing devastation in the skaian war.

Vriska manipulating his dreams to speak with him, to claim ownership of the ring he has possession of in the waking world, or maybe this is just her fighting a perceived Jack? Anywho, the silhouette of Vriska in her GodTeir, wings fluttering is very striking and cool!

Megalovania comes in full force as Jack enacts the devastation of Derse and all who belong to its kingdom with the power of the green sun. Nepeta getting three stab wounds, fits her themes of 3! Derse Aradia, who was asleep on her Quest... slab? Finally dies, allowing her to ascend to GodHood. She understands her powers, immediately in sync, coming back to live with a smile. Vriska is ready for Tavros, GodRTeir, they both charge, Vriska quickly steals his weapon and plugged it through him, swiftly ending his life as she throws his body off a cliff.

Is Rose’s communication with Doc scratch what leads to Rose’s viewport being blacked out? Was Rose told how to black it out? Or was it the act of her going GrimDark that did it?

The kids rubbing off on eachother will never not be adorable, they're all so distinct anyone can immediately clock who they’ve been talking too it’s so silly.

Anyways Jade goes about conversing with the Trolls in a more professional matter, one that won’t drive her “SHITHIVE MAGGOTS” I think it’s very smart of her, she was the most frustrated with them so of course she’d make a silly way of making her communication less easily accessible, good for her :D!

Anywho, I think Kanaya and Jade’s relationship is really cute. they have a similar feel to Rose and Jade of course, I just enjoy Kanaya’s poetic but sincere and genuine along with Jade’s silliness and kindness, they’re a great pair, along with the kinship that comes with sharing an aspect!

The complex longshot of Jade’s built up home is really pretty, with its snowy gradient. Dave’s building up of Jade’s house compared to John’s house, is much more simple, but at the same time Rose had more shit to configure with John’s house.

Jade’s iron man, Iron Lass? suit is VERY cute, I wonder if it’s actually iron? The skirt forms to her shows however soo.

My little assessments of Jade and Kanaya’s musing of their aspects and such is for one, Space and Time being essential to every suffefuel session and creation of a universe, my question is how does Time play into a session’s creation? A Time players abilities should be as integral to a successful session as a Space players. Space players breed a new universe, then how does a Time player fit into this?

Besides Aspect wise, I find sprites being unhelpful an interesting concept, a sprite is programmed with lore and knowledge, yet it’s up to them to give it to you, so in a way you can easily screw yourself with a bad protyping, the example here being JadeSprite, being too inconsolable to even want to help.

Jade’s assessment that Trolls are like bugs!! I’m all for bug Trolls. I believe they are all the same biologically, their Lusuii to my knowledge can’t imprint their personal animal attributes onto their kids, so they're all the same, with the exception of Sea Dwellers being aquatic and the biological differences that comes with that of course.

Jade’s reaffirming and supportive of Kanaya’s mission to raise the Mother Grub to maturity and hatch a new generation, civilization of Trolls is very sweet. I find a motherhood theme within Kanaya, which is very blatant if you ask me. Kanaya and Roxy’s relationship with ( eachother and aswell as ) Motherhood is a very interesting concept to me. Roxy resembles a surrogate mother to Kanaya’s children in a way. I also can see the surrogate concept being spun into a Transfeminine lease, which is a very sweet reading. I suggest doing your own research on them, here's a brief but interesting post on this subject!

Feferi and Sollux are very interesting to me, this is my last opportunity to really talk about them while they are present but i'm tired, to put it briefly, Feferi has kind a savior/pet outlook on Sollux, her privilege puts them at a weird angle, Feferi loves Sollux no doubt about that, but she belittles him in ways she intents as endearing, she, whether unconscious or not thinks of him as lesser than, being a princess while he’s a commoner. Regardless, Sollux doesn't take it to heart and isn’t being taken advantage of in any way, he needs comfort while his girlfriend, friend, sort of, kind of not Aradia is going through it, and Feferi volunteers. However Feferi seeing Sollux as sort of a plaything is still prominent when I think about them.

OH JUST PROCESSED THE NEW TALKSPRITES ARE HERE!!!! They are all so cool and precious, an obligatory new tier list!

Karkat saying Dave’s insecurity over his eyes being red is stupid when we know damn well Dave would say Dave’s insecurity over his blood being red is stupid aswell. Just parallels and characters; unconsciously pointing out similarities is cool.

Eridan always begged for doomsday devices, so blowing up the Matriorb did doom his race, one way or another. I wonder why he wanted to help Kanaya in the first place? She did make him a wand afterall, so maybe to pay her back? Or just because the task of a Matriorb barrier is hard, and he’d like to lend a helping hand??

Eridan and Sollux’s duel will never not be iconic. The Scott Pilgrim-Esque art style, the visuals as a whole being breathtaking along with the banger that is a version of The La2t Frontiier I believe?

Karkat’s denial is heartbreaking, he hasn’t really dealt with death first hand, especially of such a close loved one. He has always had chances to revive people with no consequences, dream selves and prototyping galore, but no, this is cold blooded murder of a loved one right in front of him, and he’s fucking terrifed.

Sollux’s half death and how he got blinded at all has always been really confusing to me. After his KO’D I tend to check out on his character, he just becomes generally interesting, which is a shame.

OH MY GOD I forgot about Doc guiding Karkat during Murderstuck.. If this section ends with don’t turn your bodies on the bodies i WILL lose it.

Karkat begging and screaming for Gamzee to come back to any semblance of sanity. Murderstuck is so genuinely terrifying and we don’t talk about it as much as we should Gamkar Moirails shooshpapping scene that Gamkar Moirails shooshpapping scene this what about Gamzee and Karkat being eachother's last hope? What about Gamzee hunting and lurking in the barren cold metal laboratory halls covered in indigo and olive blood?

Takeaways:

Dave makes a little quip to Terezi’s extant saying she bitches and moans about Vriska,, hmmmm ok. A part of me wants to say she wouldn’t waste her time talking about Vriska, but Dave’s one to ask alot of questions and keep whatever ball rolling so it could make sense that she could loop conversations back to Vriska and just get too heated up to drop it. Anywho, I’m sure Vriska would find it flattering that Terezi’s bemoaning to an alien boy about her.

Dave’s perception of time is getting worse and worse, I should start paying more attention to his little lines about it. One day could be a whole week worths of time for him. It’s really cool mind boggling stuff.

Terezi’s diagram of Dave’s ascension plan is one not difficult and contrived as shit to understand for once. It’s just so simple and the bright red with Terezi’s handwriting, it all just looks so cool!!

I also like how this moment was written, Dave knows everything has a catch, and one kill a for some reason out of the loop Dave for no reason, so Terezi explaining the coin flip that is why he landed as the killer, vs the other Dave as the killed, just the walking through the process to see how we got here is a very cool way to write this moment!

I wonder why Terezi and Dave assumed DaveSprite is some sort of dead?? I mean, he told Dave he was leaving.

I think the color’s that shine on the patron trolls in the Hussie headshots are interesting. Terezi and Kanaya have Dave and Rose’s respective colors directly shine on them, vs Vriska having the green of the LOWAS fires and Tavros having bronze shine back on him. To overthink it, Dave and Rose shine directly on them, because this is a prominent moment, in some way or fashion, Dave and Rose trust Terezi and Kanaya, while Vriska’s actions shine back on her and Tavros illmates himself showing his selfish ways in this moment.

Terezi’s classpect isn’t talked about as much as it should be, it puts her and he actions into perspective, how she can perceive all the different offshoots and how she pieces them together to find the reality of the situation and pick the most justified path, she is a very intelligence rational girl, and people don’t give her enough credit for that.

Terezi’s statement that the most important secret of all is that luck doesn’t actually matter, the fade to black and a hard cut with no text to Vriska’s bleeding out body. So poetic, so perfect.

Vriska’s death scene LOMAT will always be horrifying. Vriska’s request to Tavros to not let her bleed out and die. She gives Tavros the choice to take charge and take her out of her misery, but he couldn’t even bring himself to do that. She controls his hands so she can write to him in her own spilt blood, getting more and more frantic and demanding as she realizes Tavros is wimping out on her, despite her pleas and cries he won’t do what needs to be done. This is the horrifying truth Tavros tried to sleep away.

Vriska’s cerulean blue blood in contrast to the angelic shining yellows of her QuestBed, this scene is actually so pretty, it’s a perfect encapsulation of Vriska and Tavros.

Vriska’s QuestBed being a cocoon is perfect for two reasons. One, it’s befitting of her Spider association and two, it also fits the rebirth in butterflies theme of GodTeirs.

Vriska’s writing is written by Tavros in her own blood, her blood starts to run out as she dies, but she’s not done, so Tavros writing slowly turns into he own blood, scraping his fingers on the rock to write out her agony filled screams.

Did Vriska and/or Terezi help everyone make fire/rocket versions of their items?? Because I see a rocket powered unicycle for Gamzee which is objectively hilarious.

Did Sollux find out about Aradia and Equius’s kiss or did he mean that they STILL are involved with eachother on the meteor..???

Also Sollux convinced himself Aradia can’t feel, moving on from begging her to express anything at all, which Aradia denys, I like to think she does, just her life being put into such a meaningless and despairing perspective making her apathetically stoic. She’s still trying however, despite everything Aradia never stopped surviving. She tries to make amends with Sollux, leaving him with a smile and a hug. Aradia and Sollux are nothing but tragically doomed, yet they chose to live and keep on going, and in eachothers vicinity, because despite everything, despite flushed or not, they still love eachother deeply.

I wonder if Sollux’s eyes flashing one, not just a one time gag and if it is a sign of distress?

Terezi crying over Dave’s death is surprisingly sympathetic of her, she’s upset Dave chose to doom Dave, and the consequences that unfolded, she knew he was about to die so left him with a brief frustrated emoticon, her silent crying is so sweet. Also Karkat’s befuddlement at her crying is hilarious.

Karkat and Terezi are the epitome of a tweenage straight romance. A fickle girl and a well meaning dense boy being strung along.

So that's how Jade knew their family was dead! She was able to connect to their current locations. Jade’s Sburb shenanigans are going comically bad for her, please go to silly frogs faster.

I know this is probably looking into it too much, but Dave apologizing to Jade over having to see a corpse of his is just so sweet.

Dave instead of a supportive father got a relationship he describes as a “vague unspoken semblance of kinship”. The most man thing Bro ever could have done was owning up to being a parent, but he couldn't get attached, so he always did the bare minimum for Dave, not even having food for him in a fridge, Dave’s childhood is so fucked, you can barley even say Bro Strider tried, he DIDN’T EVEN FEED DAVE PROPERLY, DAVE WAS IN FEAR TO EVEN GO TO THE BATHROOM WITHOUT HAVING TO PREPARE FOR FIGHT. AAUGHG!!!! I hate how people give Bro too much credit or lessen the gravity of his abuse, they listen to how Dave described it when he was still blocking it out to cope. I'm so sorry Dave :(.

This panel is soso pretty! Most of Jade’s panels have been pretty hit or miss lately, you can tell all of these panels are getting a little stale for them to work on, then bangers like this and you can tell they has fun working on them!! :D

I find Jade and JadeSprite’s dynastic really interesting, aswell as integral to Jade's arc. Jade has to grow up to strive, she faces herself at her most immature and it puts herself into perspective, she has to grow up and be mature, and do what must be done without goofing off or being melodramatic. Of course Jade would be furious at such a display of immaturity, especially from herself? ( Sorry if this is ramble-ey! The classroom I'm in is getting loud. :B )

This line serves as a misdirection of a one off gag aswell as foreshadowing! This hard cut is really good pacing wise, the countdown showing Murderstuck is very close coming, Gamzee having Nepeta’s scratches already.

Takeaways:

I love spiraling shots in Homestuck, such as Calliope's domain. the green flames spiraling around John is just such a cool visual.

Vriska is overlayed over the Green fire of ( technically in a roundabout sort of way ) her own creation tearing apart his land. You know shits about to go down. We saw Vriska underhandly create Jack Noir, now she will play the part of the hero, lending a helping hand to John to fix the problem she caused. In a roundabout sort of way, Vriska always ends up being the hero, and that’s by her own design. Just really good visual storytelling along with looking cool as shit!

My favorite Pesterlog!

Vriska right after telling John not to get sidetracked starts musing about if John grew his hair out, to resemble Nic Cage. Which for one is adorable and for two, the VrisJune potential is crazy, but I am also just partial to mullet John.

God John is really in the shit now, frustrated at Vriska’s complex morally grey decisions, trying and fail to sputter out if Vriska would want to kiss him with they meet like Karkat said, and ending it in a desperate plea for her to come back, saying she doesn’t deserve 8 of a letter, but in said statement using 8 exclamation marks. He’s completely engrossed in her web.

John does the windy thing!!!! Even without being GodTeir! I love the silly troupe that the power was truly within them all along! :D It makes every character's progression in the game much more interesting. It would be so boring if ascension was locked off in GodTeir.

The deep blue of John’s wind in contrast to the bright blue flames is just so pretty.

Dreamer Dave, despite snooping in Rose’s diary as we speak, looks so polite in this panel, while Dream Rose in her dark spooky aura slumbers peacefully. Just the literally expressionless Dave next to a blissful smiling Rose is just adorable.

Jade’s establishing shots of her land. It’s a winter wonderland filled with luscious life and frogs befitting of a space player, just so cool! I wonder why Kanaya’s land Land Of Rays and ???? wasn’t allowed to have frogs aswell?? Because the trolls only had one space player, and their session was not doomed or nullified, so!

I love noticing little errors in the art such as the gif compression making Jade’s guitar darker than the previous panel, being when you’re so nit picky, you can spot the little things that make us human, even monsters like Hussie.

Feferi in her earlier trolling of Jade states that she is the empress to be, which contradicts her statements to her later trolling of Jade saying she was supposed to be empress, now she cannot. I wonder, if Feferi made it to Earth C, would they have crowned her Empress? I like to imagine she would take a more diplomatic position, she’s always been one with the people, so I feel like she could take the downgrade in position with class.

As i said before with Jade: Wake up, the Feferi and Jade DreamBubble shenanigans wakes up the fair of distrusting your reality in me, aswell as just being uncanny and unsettling, despite feferi’s best interest, she is scaring Jade straight, but not in the positive direction she’s hoping for. Also the blank background with something resembling a HorrorTerror in the background just wraps this panel together perfectly.

I believe this song is SunSlammer? Whatever the name, it’s a fucking banger. Jade has the most blunt weapon, being her guns, which is best fit for the highest difficulty imps when you first enter the game, they should have been well matched, Jade being a very skilled guns women, but her prototyping makes this an unfair fight.

OH GOD IS KANAYA’S LAND JUST JADE’S ISLAND? SGRUB WHAT THE HELL IS THE DEAL WITH THAT. the must have played a part in the cancerous frog that holds earth.

Anywho, I love how locked in Jade is, not acknowledging the impromptu teleportation would make sense for her, but are you kidding me she was right next to ( an asleep ) Dave.

The shot being taken in the reflection of Dave’s shades is the epitome of cool.

I wonder what determines your Echeladder? Is it specific to everyone, because Vriska remarked that John and Tavros shared a title, but is that just a cosmic similarity?

The shot of a looming glowing Bec over a completely white Jade with the swirling sky behind them is so pretty.

PM giving the WQ, a former queen, a new royal insignia of a mail stamp is adorable. I love the comradery all of the exiles show to eachother, their friendships are just really sweet and fun to me.

Jade’s snowy world is bright just like Rose’s, but in a melancholic way, not as hopeful as Rose’s land intends. I feel like the vastness of Jade’s land only serves to amplify her loneliness. The whites in LOFAF are complimented with soft greys and blues, while LOLAR white’s have a certain shine to them, complimented with a flashy iridescent pastel rainbow. They are both similar, but pretty in their on ways. All of Jade’s panels while in her land are just really pretty is what I'm getting at!

Dave’s complaints about the cold, and immediately going somewhere warmer when he knows Jade is safe just serves the headcanon of Dave being used to the Texas heat not being able to withstand the cold AT all. ( and also Dave coming just to check on Jade is really sweet of him, he knows better to lose her again like he did DaveSprite’s Jade.

Dave and Jade hold a special place in my heart. As I said in a previous post, Dave is endeared by Jade’s sweet authenticity, so Jade is the only exception to his Strider douchebag rambles, he holds a soft spot in his heart for her, while Jade can't help but be enamored by his coolness. They're just adorable!

Jade’s Gristmas being postponed because these pages weren’t made during Christmas is so stubborn and perfect of Hussie.

I love silly gag panels like this, Dave looks so cute here I love everything about this panel.

The gif compression making Rose’s glow pink even though it's a mistake is sweet, imagining Roxy protecting her during these grimdark times.

The Rose and Dave suicide missions to do weird shit to planets are starting to arise...!! I have long forgotten the gravity of what the mission to destroy The Tumor means for Rose, and am very excited for that train to start getting a move on! :D

Rose’s cryptic description of Rose, while purposely vague, does him so many disservices and I love it. Putting Doc Scratch's plan to make way for Lord English in terms of “He wants to die” is so blunt and so Rose.

Kanaya being illuminated in Rose’s lavender purple is a really pretty shot, as par for the course for Hussie headshots.

Kanaya musing about Rose’s dreamself shenanigans while trying to talk Rose out of suicide, while Rose has to chide her to get back on track, it’s so unserious, it’s completely adorable.

Kanaya’s cultural confusion is completely adorable and such a nice aspect of her. She is an intellectual so she naturally is curious about the alien species, in a polite and well meaning way. All of her social fumblings with the humans are very cute and just set her up to acclimate even better. Aswell as Rose’s patience, due to her amusement and growing fondness of Kanaya.

OKAY. So he didn’t murder Grandpa Harley per say, as I had remembered. He only caused Bec to redirect baby Jade’s bullet she had shot at herself, which just happened to shoot Grandpa Harley. Imagine how tramaic that must have been. How long did it take Jade to find his body? Did she have to learn the grueling process of taxidermy at such a young age? She must have or his flesh would be worse for wear. Oh god.

Oh my god. Jade thought her Grandpa’s death was a suicide. Oh my god. Imagine Jade in part taking the blame for being a burden, forcing the traveling explorer to settle and raise a baby? Of course I believe Jade just assuming his own personal gripes is what did it, and would realize it’s silly to blame herself. But still. This also adds some pretty sad implications to Jake’s character for me.

Oh. Oh god. Vriska would be laughing up a storm here. Tavros not only parallels Vriska’s idea of becoming a reason for a problem just to save the day and become the hero for saving their own mistake, but just dropping the ball so hard, going on and on about his self esteem, it’s just so hard to read.

OH MY GOD VRISKA DID READ IT. And through Jade’s projected Computer screen, oh poor sweet Tavros.

So the event that made Tavros sleep his waking days away was Vriska’s last actions on her death. God Tavros is just so complex, I wonder what development he could have gotten to make him less insuffrble, what could have been done to drive the point into his dense as hell thick skull.

The concept of this panel is so cool, but in excavation just looks weird as fuck. Vriska’s skin is too dark and her blues are too bright, along with the scale and anyway. Bluh! I really like what Huss was going for though!

All the beta kids stopping to watch John’s signs of ascension, his light. John looking at the hands of a God, that somehow, belong to himself. Also the mayor is the perfect self insert for the watchers here, very cute!

I enjoy Terezi and Vriska different ways to get their boys to GodTeir. Vriska allows John to be out vulnerable to Jack’s attack, dying at the hands of the beast will only make John’s defeat of the beast all the sweeter. While Terezi is blunt, she doesn’t bother with making his ascension poetic in any sense, just getting the job done effectively, letting Dave kill himself to reach GodTeir. What a cool shot btw, the framing and visuals are very nice.

Takeaways:

In little ways we get to see how John grows up. We get to see his story in the most clear liner way of all of the Beta kids, to John’s perspective Rose and Dave seem mature and old and Jade is just too mysterious and caught up in her own things to be as tied to her childhood nativity as John is, he just has to naturally grow out of it alone. We learn a limited amount about the kids in their intros, so Hussie letting John grow out of liking gushers or liking the same shitty movies is a good choice in story telling.

The shot of the Egbert family shenanigans playing on Rose’s client player viewport while she stands far away from it, above John’s simplicities, just really good composition.

From the EarthBound-esque pixel visuals to Hussie’s more influenced art! So cool, very nice disposition.

Anywho, i’m just a sucker for Erdian and the Rolal’s. #WLW. ( wizards loving wizards )

Eridan assuming Rose is a violet hued blood and projecting on her as such is just so perfect, along with Rose’s inability to pass up a good bit. Though in this state she breaks character to apathetically insult the idiots bothering her.

My favorite Pesterlog!

I have faith Aradia and Rose will come to an understanding, both in similar states of apathy and lows in their arcs. Either in a cordial understanding eachother sense or just being completely apathetic to eachother, aggravating the two of them. As I said before, with a cast so big, all of the characters you can pair up together makes for some very good dynamics, all are interesting to think about to me!

Aradia, knowing Rose’s destruction will inevitably doom their session, offers advice to Rose. Aradia once followed her destructive urges encouraged by the horrorterrors and those of the furthest ring as well, she understands Rose’s situations completely, and the fact that she will probably not take her advice anyways, but she knows if it were her, it would have been nice for someone to waste their efforts in saving her. Aradia melodramatically gets frustrated with paradox space, acting in a way so random that paradox space has no choice but to rewrite everything, she then leaves in a melodramatic ft about blowing herself up, to a dismayed Rose, who found she was enjoying someone’s like minded company, which for her was a first for a long time. This moment is so sweet, aswell as beautiful art from Hussie, HussieMode my beloved.

Rose giving her laptop to Jaspersprite ( Adorable! I love Nepeta and Jaspers relationship, just two kitty cats in a big big world! And i love how accomading Rose is despite the state she’s in, teasing Nepeta, in a fashion fit for her brighter days. ) in an act of maturity, the laptop including the cozie she knitted that she made in brighter younger days, she feels like she’s outgrown it, outgrown alot of things. My poor sweet kids, forced to grow up so fast :(. Can my escapist fantasy game not be so existential!

For some reason, despite how jarring the gold is in what I assume is Dave’s denizens layer, I prefer the look of Dave in this pixel style more than Rose. However I am too young to fully be persuaded by the nostalgic appeal of EarthBounds artstyle.

OH MY GOD WHAT AN ABSOLUTE COOL KID. Dave in Hussie’s style is just so cool looking, his very short hair with prominent features, making him look younger but he also looks so defined and nonchalant AUGH he’s just cool!!!!

Oh god damnit I am not ready for MurderStuck. I have so many feelings on Gamzee’s fate and the circumstances that lead up to his downfall, I am just going to hold that tight until another time.

Even if this is a throw away line, even if he isn’t that sad about it as I might make him out to be, this line is so sorrowful. Gamzee can’t even remember his class, his brain is literally rotted because of his addiction, he’s barely holding it together and all he can do about it is type a sad face. Gamzee is the perfect clown, a puppet strung along for our amusement, his life is a comedic tragedy.

The fact that for some other heroes this moment might have been a heroic feat in their journey. Yet Dave rejects to have a big sword pulling moment. Dave rejects the idea of being a hero, he can see how others, like John can be heroes, but himself? “nah dude that just aint how i roll” ( He rejects being a hero for reasons we can assume by now, his Bro raised him with brutal tough love, if you can even call it love. Bro knew Dave was going to be a hero one day, save the world. He didn’t want to grow attached so he always kept an arms distance with Dave, raising him into the perfect hero, nonchalant enough to be cool with the gravity of what must be done. Dave rejects the ideals of heroism, because it was pushed so heavily and negatively upon him. )I love this moment so much, besides just being a really good bit, spin on the sword pulling trope, it also has alot of characterization for Dave!

Dave’s characterization that comes with the passing of time, is that his Bro treatment was put into perspective. All the kids reflect on their homelife, and Dave needed this, it’s a stark contrast to how he buried his discomfort with his homelife deep into his subconscious, and acted like he loved the irony infested hell hole that was his life. Now Dave is older, he refers to his beloved bro as “just some guy.” Dave has had time upon time upon time to be left alone with his thoughts, which would have always looped back to realizing the truth of his homelife. Bro has always been uncool.

THIS IS SUCH A GOOD VISUAL GAG OMFG?? GREAT PAYOFF.

Terezi’s drawing is so cute omg???? Genuinely this is so precious.

I love that all the kids have such distinct penmanship and art styles, especially when they’re unflattering. I also love how self aware of it you know?? They’re just all written so well and authentically, Dave knows he’s a terrible artist yet draws for fun anyway, I love his perspective of drawing for fun and not for improvement. (( also, as the fandom so often likes to joke about, DaveKat is U4U! ( untalented for untalented ))

Being irrelevant in the eyes of paradox space is a fate worse than death. I like to think DaveSprite isn’t exactly jealous of Dave, just melancholy over his lack of agency over his individualization, like because he is a sprite he is no longer a “real Dave” and therefore doesn’t get to be regarded with the same respect that an authentic Dave would.

Back to my point of Dave’s sword being a heroic feat.

DaveSprite knew the point of this artifact for Dave, but because he knows himself, he knows that it wouldn't be as easy for him as it would a “real hero”, like John.

My favorite DaveSprite panel. Davesprite: Defend. is just so pretty, he finally gets to be useful for once. I wonder is he finds it fun, or if he would just get lost in his thoughts, fighting angrily, as his thoughts over his agency increase so does his frustracion, but honestly, he’s probably just fighting them stoic as always, just with a small sense of pride and honor within him.

Not going to lie, I get irked easily and I find this flash HORRIFYING. The vastness of the furthest ring is really cool to see though- OG MY GOD PAUSE. DAVE’S SWEET BABY REDS. unpause. Anywho! The squiddles imagadry having the slightest influence of the trolls, such as soper pie and candy corn shrimp is a nice touch.

In panels like these, after Hussie has gotten accustomed to flexing his art skills, seem like an imation of his own style. Not really a critique? Just an observation!

Oh and how we ever thank you, my dear sweet fish princess. 38) Gosh she is just adorable though, I love how she sees approaching the humans as a diplomacy of sorts, exactly how a princess would see interacting with aliens!

Feferi is not stupid, which would be a very easy attribute to give her, she is excitable and silly despite herself, though she’s a well meaning girl who knows what she wants. She knows how to stand up for herself, such as telling Erdian off and teasing Vriska. Like most intelligent characters in Homestuck she is also witty and can be snarky, which relaxes Jade a bit, which is just really sweet. I just reel-ly enjoy her character, it’s a shame we got so little of her! 38(

Post reading I still don’t have much to say. Good for Jade for not putting up with any of his shit. I also enjoy the disposition of Karkat liking both the ravenette beta kids. In a backwards way, he is kinder to John who he is pitched for, and meaner to Jade who he is flushed for, and if that wasn’t enough romance, nothing can beat his hate for himself.

She’s so happy to finally get a move on to some good ol’ Sburb shenanigans, aw i love her!

This reminds me, I’ll try my best to remember but I recall having a dislike for Jade mid Homestuck during my first reading? If you may recall Jade was my favorite for a long time, then something about her writing later threw me off.

Do you think Bro carries around a sewing kit for puppet repairs?? That is such a good bit and also is adorable.

Although this interpretation of Bro does kind of paint him in a more glorifying way then he deserves, I do enjoy the thought that Bro sees DaveSprite as an angel. ( even if for fanservice-ey reasons. )There are two reasons for this. One: Dave exceeding to his expectations Two: Bro being one of the few people to see DaveSprite as his own person, worthy of respect. To expand upon this further, Bro meeting DaveSprite is the climax of Bro’s mission of making Dave into a “Strong little man.” Instilling heroism and stoicism into Dave was to prepare him for moments like this, moments where he would have to fight Jack. Some people like to think, that with the clarity of death, that he would feel comfortable telling Dave how proud he really is of him. Dave has exceeded his expectations, ascended, he has become an angel. My second reason it’s simple enough as summarized, Bro respects DaveSprite for the hero he has become, Bro is finally proud of Dave.

John being old fashioned is such a good bit of characterization that I love him. As I've mentioned numerous times before, he cosmically is a Grandpa in some form!

The fact that Bro, despite being a deadly swordsman, is just tactically distracting Jack Noir with his amazing Puppeteer skills is just gold and also just visually really cool.

I love how Rose, despite herself, still has time to tease those she loves, it’s how she shows her affection i find it, along with the teasing she is playing along to a prevoiuly established joke, which ( just like her ecto-brother ) is one of the ways she shows that she enjoys talking to them, if Rose and Dave care about you, no good bit will be left unturned.

I wonder if Rose’s shadow on her face is in a way foreshadowing her GrimDark form? And also I love that her mental state is also echoed by her location, the bright whites of her land when she first arrives at peace, now she is in a library encased in darkness, only illuminated by her crystal ball.

John having to clarify that he meant black guy as in a Dersesite and not an african american is in itself hilariously stupid but then he expands on his clarification using an example black guy such as Bill Cosby. Homestuck is such a relic, man.

John and Rose’s friendship is such a nice aspect of early Homestuck that so often gets overlooked. Underrated as hell!

I barely have any notes on this panel, it’s just that cool, you can see it, it also gets points because of its purpose in context, just good shit, man!

Is an epic masterpiece. The score as I mentioned before is permanently engraved in my head because I stole the song for my own webcomic.. hehe. Everything in this flash is so visually appealing and just generally pretty. To the painted background of Jade’s island and LOHAC to the action comic-esque Bro and Jack fight scene shot to the beautiful anime-esque artsyle shots of Bro, Lil cal and DaveSprite.

Jade, being the last person in her session to enter, has the largest meteor. Her entrance, just like her, is a pattern breaker, being so massively destructive and hectic. Every entrance is made to be gradually harder, thus Jade is blindfolded and made to take a shot, to be able to enter. Vriska, is revealed to be the reason upon John’s impromptu nap. ( which i somehow didn’t pick up on. ) We know she does that so she can have a hand in creating the Beast just so she can be the one to inevitably destroy him, in a ego driven poetic backwards sort of way to make it all about her, that is very par for the course for her. We finally get to piece the whole story now, the trolls' universe was wiped away from them by Jack Noir who was created by the prototyping of the kids from the universe they just created. ( Also the more simple 8 bit-esque rendition of the song lends itself greatly to this moment, it’s so simple yet tense. ) It’s heartbreaking how Karkat upon seeing Jack Noir isn’t even scared, he just looks so hurt at his perceived betrayal. Lastly we see Jade, looking skyward at her new snowy planet! What a cutie.

I have the foggiest recollection of Dave’s state and conversation with Terezi after Bro’s death, I am very excited to see it unravel.

When John gets hurt, Dad egbert is there to nurse away the booboos. Dad Egbert plays with him, loving spending time with his son, whether it’s baking, playing piano or playing pranks on eachother. He gets him gifts that show that he supports and is aware of his interests. Dad Egbert isn’t even vindictive nor expresses the slightest blame on John for the death of Nanna. John has a great homelife, he grew up in an environment were he allowed to be his genuine self, with a supportive loving father. Karkat can’t help but hate his “easy” upbringing, so far from what a troll faces when they grow up, lacking all the trials and violent feats a troll must face to survive, he’s allowed to just have fun and be apologetically himself, and for this, Karkat lands himself being pitched for John.

Anywho! I love this flash, the loading sequence going from Sgrub to Sburb is a nice touch. This flash is a great start to this act ( within an act ) going from trolls back to humans by Karkat watching John. It serves as backstory for Karkat’s hate aswell as just backstory for John. I also love the touching music they put to this flash, I find any song that name drops the title of the medium always makes me emotional, so the track “HOMESTUCK” really does it for me, another great example of this is “UNDERTALE” from well, Undertale!

I love this line so much. It’s so passionate and poetic, exactly what you can expect from a fully riled up Karkat. How romantic is a cosmic love written in the stars you made for someone? Oh Karkat how I love you.

The panel of Vriska watching John is so pretty, Vriska’s look of aggravation yet intrigue at a peacefully sleeping John. I can’t wait for their slowburn. Spider8reath is my favorite homestuck ship btw, I just find them very interesting!

As i said in a previous post, John always gets heartbreakling close to his aspirations, such a saving Jade or reuniting with his father, John always gets dealt a deck of the world’s most poetically tragic rug pulls and shitty circumstances that aren’t any fault of his own.

Mom Lalonde’s sympathetic gesture of sharing a drink, her most effective coping mechanism, is very ( bitter ) sweet at this moment. The detail of the sights in the skies being Rose’s land when we look at Mom is a nice touch.

Aswell as in a couple panels back we see a sneak peak of Jade entering her land!

So this is where June came from! It would be sweet if the name that sparked from her first conversion with Vriska stuck with her, trans girl solidarity! :33

Vriska giving John her roleplay name upon being asked is adorable, even more so is John’s reaction of disbelief but immediate accommodation, what a gentleman!

Also a note here, in case I don't remember this comparison later on, San’s redemption monologue in Undertale has the slightest resemblance to Vriska’s. They both in some way or another pose the question, is redemption possible, even for the most condemned sinners?

Vriska and John have few things alike, yet those are strong aspects of them! Such as genuine heroism aswell as other things such as movie taste. Yet they have important differences that separate the two in morals and beliefs. And these lines are a great showcase/example of them!

I wonder if Vriska’s dramatic display of distaste for John’s earth movies is disingenuous? Also John is so accommodating for the trolls, such as translating his movie titles for Vriska, he’s such a gentlemen it’s adorable.

The upward shot of John's house towering up is simple yet very pretty panel. I love complex creative shots like these, so cool!!!!

The writing on the wall’s for the Beta kids failure most likely being the code they subconsciously wrote on the walls is a very cool foreshadowing bit from Rose!

Rose is ominous and brief, as John refers to it “spookily mysterious”. She is this way in this point of time because this one of her biggest lows in her arc, she has isolated herself deep into destruction and the whispers of the horror terrors, which are gradually becoming clearer. It’s a parallel to Aradia in a way, the difference is that Rose will have a much easier time in overcoming this veil of darkness clouding her vision. ( Courtesy of being a light player. )

Rose is quickly accustomed to Kanaya’s mannerisms which I find endearing, even if in this state, she doesn’t have the nicest tone to it.

I enjoy how the familiar duos talk to eachother, they all talk in this genuine way that is solely unique to them. Examples such as Rose and Dave, John and Jade, aswell as these cute lines from Karkat and Kanaya.

Another Karkat and John parallel, and in turn, a Rose and Kanaya parallel! I find John’s iterations of these bits much more endearing, Karkat finds a way to sour the bit with his own hubris and pride if that makes sense.

The “FLIGHTY BROADS AND THEIR SNARKY HORSESHITOMETER” is a very cool play on John’s ( and co’s ) Trickster's Gambit. Lines that hint at the very least Kanaya’s curiosity on Rose are very fun, her asking Karkat if Rose really had intentions of harming the trolls and their session, in a futile hope in Rose, whom she admires so. Aswell as her alien infatuation with her, such as being surprised at her lack in horns and lines expressing her desire to look at Rose. The witty broads combat in fields of intellect and snark is just really cute, all of these factors are exemplified with lines like “The FLIGHTY BROADS AND THEIR SNARKY HORSESHITOMETER ticks a few notches in her favor. Your aggravation and curiosity are simultaneously piqued. You wish you could get a look at her.”

“The horseshitometer swings back to her side / You win this round, Lalonde.” BLUH what a dork!! Kanaya getting invested in a rivalry with Rose that she isn’t even aware about yet is beating Kanaya at is adorable.

John and his noble feat of unknowingly trying to undo his feat of setting lesbains back by a few years.

The word maddening is used numerous times in Homestuck, i most closely link it with Kanaya however, it is mostly used in reference to her relations with Rose. Kanaya finds Rose maddening, how she is able to match her in prominent ways, such as intellect, humorously and personally. It’s all utterly maddening.

Kanaya has an affinity for bright things. ( it is apart of her counterculture aspects to Alternian which I very much enjoy. ) And lucky for her, Rose is the brightest there is. In numerous ways.

OMG WINTER ROSE LOOKS SO ADORABLE?? And Kanaya thinks so too!! Augh I love these pages, RoseMary galore.

I love Kanaya influenced narration, all of her writing is so poetic and romantic. “She has been toying with you all along. Oh, the curiosity. How it persists. The maddening, maddening curiosity.” The urge to draw more RoseKan is strong.

Kanaya: Have eighth conversation.

IT’S HERE. John and Rose both have awaited conversations with their patron trolls that were foreshadowed by their patron trolls. This is it for Rose! I wonder, If Rose is simply curious of Kanaya’s Name, and trolls as a whole in order of addressing them in a polite informal manner or in a way that she can more easily communicate about them to the furthest ring, enacting some sort of spell or ritual.

BREATH ASPECT MENTION!!! I wonder what her opinion on the aspect? I know she’s not a fan of pages of course, but breath is a pretty lucrative aspect and I'm pretty sure she's aware of that too!

I find Rose's assumption of Kanaya being a Derse dreamer intriguing. In matters of what defines a Prospit dreamer vs a Derse dreamer. I am still an amateur in terms of the Moons, I do not fully understand the classifications of what differentiates the dreamers.

Kanaya states that she does not trust the dark forces of those in the furthest rings, those that would eschew skaia’s light. I find this contrast in Kanaya and Rose very fun aswell as interesting. Their connections to light and dark, being represented as Prospit vs Derese, have many similarities, in this regard, their affinity towards light and brightness. I like that Rose’s light is dimmed during her descent into the dark forces of the furthest ring, through mental clouding, darkening her outlook aswell as wearing darker clothes, her descent into grimdarkness darkens every aspect of her, which I find very very interesting.

Kanaya calling Rose dangerous, besides the obvious connotation of this line, is in a way a call back to Kanaya’s perception of Vriska, and therefore her “girlcrush” on her, which Kanaya now has her eyes set on Rose, even if not pale and if not as hard, YET. Kanaya still is starting to meddle, and Rose of course, can’t help but play along.

Kanaya trying to steer Rose from her brash destructive tendencies by trying to set her mind on more relaxing playful activities, such as playing dressup, Kanaya already having sketched out outfits for Rose ( frist of all i am dying to see what they look like aswell as her artstyle oh my FUCKING god???? Do you think she would draw Rose in the outfits aswell posing all smug or just a simple manicanequin? ) Imagine a timeline where Rose for some reason took this opportunity? New MSPFA minicomic idea that’s all i’m saying!

Kanaya is over frivolous pale endeavors, she has wasted her time on smart girls such as Rose before, and therefore once she is conscious of her meddling, rejects the action of pacifying Rose. Rose inturn follows up this with a playful disappointment that will Kanaya no longer play along, Rose, even if somewhere deep inside is being a little genuine, can’t help playing along with a good bit.

In Vriska’s impatience she makes a mistake in her larping-esque typing quirk ways, using 9 exclamation marks instead of 8.

People forget that despite everything Vriska has humanity. I find her so adorable like are you kidding me. Precious.

I would totally max out the images I'm allowed to post on tumblr per post if i screenshotted everytime John used 8’s for Vriska but it’s just so cute, and Vriska grows slowly fonder of him each time, ack!!!!!!!!

Besides the silly sbahj call back, Tavros and Equius’s interactions specifically on this topic, are very intriguing to me. Imagine if Equius had the same infatuation with Tavros as he did Aradia, I believe Equius would have more decorum with Tavros, so issues of agency won’t be as prominent of an issue as they were with Equius’s handling of Aradia. Terezi is a master of manipulation, she has a way of getting people to open up, through their own volition no less, this is also impart of because she’s a Mind player! Dave tells Terezi that he’s not happy with his artwork, it’s just an impression of his bro’s work and that he needs to individualize more. ( which is a train of thought brought on by John’s considerate thinking, what a sweetie! ) Terezi understands this right away and knows just how to help. Dave hides shit so deep inside he forgets himself, Terezi tries to help him become more aware of the hidden truth, telling him to describe his “Mindspace” which just is Lil Cal. Hussie either was influenced by how he got used to writing Dave, in his present fear of Lil Cal or either Little Dave was still okay with expressing his fear of Cal, before hiding it away aswell in an act to cope with his fear. Despite Terezi’s help, Dave is discouraged after seeing Lil Cal and promptly drops this line of thought.

Terezi being the reason SBAHJ is the beautiful masterpiece it is in a backwards sort of way is really really fun.

I have always been curious to how Terezi go in touch with her god tier powers.

Once again, Terezi one-ups Vriska. They are both God Tier in a sense. Vriska dies at the hand of Aradia, who was justified in her beating, then pressured Tavros while on her deathbed, who she knew wasn't mentally strong enough, to take her out of misery, bleeding out from the beating. Vriska’s ascension to GodTeir in my recollection, was messy and was not through much action of her own. Terezi through taking her time through the game, through her own will power and efforts ascends all the same as Vriska, despite lacking the flashy wings or GodTier PJ’S. Vriska gets ahead by though brute force, cheap tactics and manipulation, while Terzi gets ahead through her justice and hardwork, and this is why she will always have the upper hand.

It’s cute how Terzei and Rose have the same exile/commander! Both receive the WQ, because they are Seer’s alike! I love the connections Hussie makes through their GodTeirs, it gives us insight on Classpects aswell as the kids themselves.

They are such dorks I actually need them dead. ( /With love. )

Karkat’s use of time travel is coming in full force now! If you thought his backwards chats with John were infuriating you’ll need a new adjective to describe how frustratingly stupid it gets ( or got? Past tense, non linear story time travel bluh blah blah! ) His intent for linearity and simplicity is overruled by his self hatred, going back to berate himself in the past, in a public memo no less. I really grew fond of Karkat when he went off the handle memo wise, they're just a joy to read.

My favorite Homestuck flash. Beautiful artsyle, aswell as great music, it drags on but in a way that makes sense, Vriska staggering to get the upper hand while bleeding out, music is intense yet sputters in pacing, idk I don’t know anything about music theory the song is just very good and fits perfectly okay. My half hearted relaying of the events won't do this flash justice, go rewatching for yourself! ( has spoilers so maybe don't just watch it for the first time out of context LOL ) The tweening is such a nice touch to the movement needed for this moment, slow yet unwavering. The drops of blood are so satisfying along with the dramatic lightning it's just perfect. The background is very detailed, painted even, they are gorgeous renditions. This most prominently is directed at the Shots of Terezi’s mom, she just looks so cool in all of her dragon glory. Terezi’s descend into the blinding rays of Alterina’s Moonlight. Her waking animation is so creative, resembles Dave’s steps in Dave: Ascend to the highest point in the building, a bit, just looks really cool. Flashforward cut to Terezi And Karkat fighting off underlings together!! Karkat’s land looks SO badass, they’re so cool :D. Cut to Gamzee just doing some juggling tricks at his underlings, what a chill guy. I enjoy the visuals of Sollux’s land aswell as their running movement being really smooth but my question is why did Feferi just freeze up and scream at the underlings? Does she not fight and was beckoning Sollux here?? Um?? Funny nonetheless. Cut to Nepeta glomping the actual shit out of Equius!! Cut to my favorite panel of Tavros ever, we can see the little indentation of his nose, his big smile and eyes omg he’s precious, man. Cut to Kanaya, not in her best dress but hey they can’t all be winners. Cut to Eridan and Sollux in a petty immature nerd battle!!!! Now we cut back to Vriska and Tavros in LOMAT, the music stops in pace, amping up. All of Vriska’s flying animation aswell as sprite animation looks really cool here. AradiaBot’s illustration in this is BREATHTAKING. She looks alien for lack of a better word, cold and inhumane, like a bug of sorts. She also has her time traveling machine that follows the motif of those in her aspect, being Music related! All Vriska wanted out of Aradia was a reaction. She pestered and bugged and fussed just to get Aradia to react to get angry, and boy did she get angry. The music reeling back as she sees a mystified Tavros, she relents her beating and disappears once again.

Another great example of Hussie’s cool as shit geometric sharp artstyle.

Aradia’s dramatic storytelling of this moment must have been so hype back in the day. Imagine being the creators of [S] Rex Duodecim Angelus, having to piece this story cohesively to the song, imagine being the song writers, assigning each character a sound motif, deciding what characters to pair up in battle, this moment is just so special to me. The trolls are a bunch of champs for one putting up with ALternia and being better than it surpassing the shitty expectations set up for them aswell as everyone doing their part to beat the game, everyone fighting using their best efforts.

- We know through SOME time shenanigans Aradia got ( I THINK ) John’s alchemized laptop of that-one-guy-I-totally-know’s name. So it’s not far off Kanaya has an eerily similar laptop to Jade? Not the same of course, but I enjoy any Jade and Kanaya interactions/parallels I can get. I think they’re adorable! :)

- Kanaya’s WARDROBIFIER is soo pretty, MOST of her outfits are so gorgeous, even the ones that aren't, imagine the time and passion she put into it! I think Rose would find it pretty spiffy!

- Feferi’s first pesterlog is the epitome of adorable. She’s such a nice change of pace, dear sweet Feferi!!!! Also Kanaya is just SO witty?

I find myself chuckling at a good chunk of her lines.

SASSY GAY ERIDAN HAS ENTERED THE ROOM!! He shows up with nothing but sass. ugh! I love all the different voices Hussie gave the kids, they’re all so different and fun to read. I also love his tendency to nickname everyone. He tries to be more personable in some kind of attempt to make people like him more, consciously or not, he just likes to believe that he’s closer with everyone more than he actually is.

- “purity of the bloodline” YEAH ALRIGHT ERIDAN. Seriously i genuinely don’t understand why more people don’t ship Eridan and Equius, they're perfect high blood snobs who could totally get a good hatesnog going.

- I like that Kanaya has a future preemption aspect to her alike Jade. They have a bunch of little connections, personal and class related which I just find fun.

And Kanaya thinks she doesn’t have what it takes to troll people? Yeah alright. Kanaya is just so witty I cannot understate this. Rose and Kanaya have such a way of understand people that they can easily fuck with people like this, especially if it’s idiots like Eridan.

Eridan is one to confide in anyone in earshot i believe, but this moment is still sweet to me. Eridan is so up his own ass with his higher than thou royal status complex shit that he drove himself to be a drag and utterly socially inept. Eridan suffers from a profound sense of loneliness, but in a way it’s self made, all of the kids are poetically tragic in such ways.

YESSS. Pre-Sgrub Kanaya and Rose! This panel is so pretty, Rose’s dutifully written GameFAQ’s illuminating an utterly immersed Kanaya.

Kanaya’s musings about the Beta Kid’s session are just so cute. It’s naive and hoping, going from query to query which you can tell she has put alot of time and thought into each one. Wondering about things like their matriorb and mothergrub, about their personal dramas pertaining to quadrants.

I think about this panel aLOT. Kanaya’s mental image of Rose's appearance, she sees her in such a badass and elegant way it is just so cute. ( Two side notes, Rose’s skirt looking like her purple pillow with gold tassels is just a nice touch. My another note, I only have one gripe being, Kanaya must have seen the images Rose embedded into her posts showing John, so she must have known she’s not a troll...? She believes she was the sole leader of her session and would have loved to talk to her. I wonder if Kanaya being a fan of Rose’s FAQ’s will ever be expressed to Rose. Imagine Kanaya reading her personal wizard fiction! I love them so much.

Vriska’s tactics for getting stronger are shotty at best. She can’t STAND Tavros antagonizing him at every point, through verbal abuse and ignorance to his well being, mental and physical. I wonder if Vrsika genuinely believes she’s helping Tavros. In a roundabout way, yes, she knows she’s using “getting stronger” as an outlet deep down, it’s almost comical how bad she fails at being in any way cordial. If she really put her mind to it, she probably COULD make him stronger, she just needs to go about it the right way. Vriska however is temperamental and doesnt like it to waste her time, so i doubt she would do the thinking involved to realize her brute force tough love approach is NOT getting anywhere with Tavros, and that positive reinforcement is probably the way to go to achieve anything at all. We see her brute force tough love tactics fail both times attempted, with Tavros and (Vriska), (Vriska) even though influenced by Tavros so not fully an exact copy of Vriska was not impressed and much less moved by Vriska trying to bully her into become her idea of “stronger”. The only time we see Vriska’s tactics work is with John, though she knows much more than John, she acts a partner to John, through her failings with Tavros she’s taking a nicer approach with John, positive reinforcement and all, and John is really receptive! There are nuances to this such as John has a higher tolerance for bullshit snark and wasn’t previously bullied and abused by her. The point still stands, Vriska can help, she just needs to put in the work of knowing what approach to go about it. Vriska probably knows this, however her “help” is just an outlet to bully and belittle Tavros.

- Kanaaya taking her time to clean Vriska’s room into organised little piles, god she is such a sweetie! Vriska doesn’t deserve her kindness, I think she knows that aswell.

- The visual of Tavros’s underlings all following in his little hovercar is actually so funny and adorable, Tavros found such a good loophole for avoiding killing them, he probably didn't need the Grist anyways, already building enough to get to his first gate.

- Vriska isn’t fooling anyone, she has so many irons in the fire yet spends SO much of her time on Tavros, to the point where even Tavros is asking if she has better things to do.

Okay Vriska’s map is the cutest thing i’ve ever seen. The tiny little Tavros and his beady little eyes omg. Her beautiful handwriting, sharp and thin, 8’s for B’s and M’s that resemble her symbol. Gahh so cool.

Oh Vriska Vriska.. She is horns over heels for Tavros despite everything, she doesn’t know how to place it and even less how to approach it, so like most of her romantic regards, she goes about it in the worst possible way. Tavros is being tossed around as a toy for her fleeting amusement. Tavros has no agency to do ANYTHING about this, Vriska at best is just facing her feelings head on, testing out the waters, but still she doesn’t get gratification, what is Tavros’s affection and admiration if it isn’t freely given to her? It’s all meaningless, she’s fucked their relationship to hell Tavros is downright terrified of her, but Vriska just CAN’T let it go, let him go. She is so up her own ass with her fantasy world, she wants Tavros to play along with her ancient roleplay, to be The Summoner to her Marquise Mindfang, she has so little to look forward to, especially with her terrible bleak homelife. So she holds these made up relationships and aspirations dear, and through that, she has gone far beyond her story, she is now deep in the shit Tavros Nitram wise, and she can’t bring herself to let it go.

- Eridan’s introduction is all dramatics and flare and I LOVE it. His intro panels are just so dynamic and cool omg.

- I have stated before, I love zoom out shots in homestuck that reveal the true complexity and scale of the scene. Feferi’s Mother is the perfect example to this, she is monstrously huge and to account for this we get eerie textless shots that let you just process and behold her. Feferi’s Mother, “Gl'bgolyb” is an eldritch being, estimated to be around 10.85 miles long.

- Eridan is a history buff. Everyday in my History class I just think of how Eridan would enjoy this so much more than me. Getting through class is about the little ( Homestuck related ) things.

- “You would redefine what it means to be CULLED in troll society. Under your rule it would mean caring for the unfit and infirm rather than exterminating them” Feferi would have been a great empress :(.

- “You would also look forward to using your reign to UNITE THE TWO RACES. You were told you would do this one day by your lusus, even if it does contradict her message of extinction. Oh well, you suppose NOT ALL PROPHECIES CAN COME TRUE.” Foreshadowing to the Trolls and Humans unity. Feferi will also make the dream bubbles, which unites a whole bunch of people!! Dear sweet Feferi.

My (ex?) Moirail and I matched these panels. This whole sequence is just adorable :D!

Eridan gossiping with Karkat!! Karkat is probably frustrated and mean the whole time but he secretly loves it, he doesn’t NEED every single update but when he remembers he gets all excited, I think Eridan’s sass makes him the perfect gossiper.

As I stated before, I love Eridan and Vriska’s Kismetitude. We get a flashback of their rival role playing games! Back when she was the Marquise Mindfang to his Orphaner Dualscar, back when he was the hottest iron in her fire. I love any flashbacks we get of the kids or trolls, Vriska’s flashbacks are so cool to see! She always looks very happy, it's bittersweet.

- Sgrub implementing Feferi’s hive in a fish tank is just surprisingly nice, and just a real cute concept! :D

Eridan is so tragically pathetic, he isolates himself, he feels so alone and the only person that ever puts up with him is leaving, and he is just so transparently desperate with his pleading.

I can relate to Eridan’s self-made despair, Eridan’s last message to Feferi in their break up saying her favorite vocal stim in a pathetic last ditch effort to get any sort of reaction or validation from her. I feel so bad for Eridan, redemption for him would be hard, but at the price of foregoing his loneliness, i'm sure he would leave behind his old ways in an instant.

- Gamzee’s land is one of my favorite, it fits him so well and is just really fun and cool to look at.

- StabDad is genuinely my favorite concept ever, their companionship is just my everything. ( Also I’m ignoring Gamzee with my life here. )

- This Pesterlogs was one of my favorites during my first read. As I said before Eridan would confide in anyone in earshot, and Gamzee is always WiLlIn To HeLp A mOtHeRfUcKeR oUt! So they just work really well of eachother, i wouldn't say they could be be best friends or anything, just friends who talk to eachother and don't get in melodramatically petty fights, which is saying something for the trolls!

- Is the Spades commanding Karkat the intermission spades, I assumed because of his torn arm..

Can we assume this Meta Rose is actually Rose? Because.. well because of her breasts but also her skin color? I wonder why Hussie chose to speak through Rose, probably because she's the most sensible, writing wise?

Canon DreamTroll sprites!! They all look precious of course, their shoes are color coded to their bloods which is very fun! With exceptions like Karkat for ambiguity, Vriska and Terezi apparently having such an affinity for red shoes they manifested them and Solluc having inverse of yellow and purple, for purely aesthetic reasons i believe. I also have to highlight Eridan and his adorable little scarf aswell as Equius and his dumb Dirk GodTeir-esque puffy pluderhose shorts.

I love how Nepeta sometimes forgets to do asterisks, it makes seem more real in her clumsiness and all the more cute. Also I just love this interaction.

I love Equius and Nepeta’s childish yes/no back and forths, in their first Pesterlog they do it FOUR times.

- It’s interesting to me how everyone refers to Equius and Nepeta as friends, because given the preface of their typing quirks, they’ve been Moirails from the beginning. Hussie probably left that out so he wouldn't have to explain it then instead of at the bigger quadrant rant later on, it just leads me to wonder if everyone actually KNOWS their Moirails, or just assume Equius is Nepeta’s weird bossy friend.

- OH MY GOD WHY DID HUSSIE MAKE IT SEEM LIKE TAVROS ROLLED OVER TINKERBULL I'M CRYING??? UM... ANYWAYS.

I find Tavros and Nepeta’s friendship really sweet, they are the two most genuinely kind trolls, they’re not dramatic or self serious, they are goofy and fun in a John/Jade kind of fashion! It makes their ( sparse ) interactions so cute.

- The gif compression made Tavros’s eye bags a tealish color on Page 2168. ANYWAY Alternia’s role playing games are a very interesting concept and I am successfully grossed out by how the characters and such Tavros plays with are spawned!

I have some gripes with the canon of how Tavros got paralysed, i think Vriska is far too cruel for no good reason, sure she could be doubling down in her villainy to try to convince herself she’s doing what's best for him, so she doesn't have to feel any immediate guilt. I just prefer other perspectives of how this went don't. Looks at HSAU. Oh and also I made a LyricStuck about this scene. Check it out!

I, and many others, find this line very interesting. There is an implication here that troll girl games are inherently more dangerous. Alot of Alternian girls are more outwardly aggressive. My recollection of this argument is foggy so sorry if this seems baseless. I just like the notion that Girl’s are more dangerous on Alternia, more conniving and mean, and that the guys have to look out for eachother, such as Karkat with Tavros.

- Yeah equius’s posters definitely have the shock value Hussie was going for. I am STILL not over them.

Snowman and Vriska’s connections are cute, in a similar motherly fashion to WQ and Rose to me.

- Vriska’s room is so pretty to me, the scattered 8 balls of misfortune, her pretty blue dice, spider webs and black veils complimenting the greys of her room.

- My favorite Panel!

This panel is so beautiful and dynamic, the composition, her expression and stance just sets you up perfectly for the monster the SpiderMom is.

- Vriska had to acclimate herself to be okay with killing for her own survival under her SpiderMom. “You cloud campaigns for teams of Flarpers, utilizing your abilities for ORCHESTRATING THE DEMISE OF THE IMPRESSSSSSSSIONA8LE. Your victories supply you with treasure, experience points, and SPIDER FOOD.” Her perspective of her mothers necessary food and advancing in the game is a creative way to make her not dwell on or bemoan her the horror of her killings. I am a Vriska apologist btw. She did what she had to under her circumstances, nonetheless unnecessarily cruel about it and abused her power to kill, so one could not defend her killings as purely for survival.

- “But addiction is a powerful thing.” Is a recurring line, which I find very in line with Vriska and just a thought provoking line in general, good shit.

- “Worst nightmare to silly BOY-SKYLARKS everywhere.” Even in her own intro she’s still bringing up Tavros. I find her infatuation over Tavros and how she goes about it in all the wrong ways very interesting. Here’s a little thing I wrote about my feelings on the matter :3. “vriska serket, a tragic girl. hopelessly enamored, infatuated with the idea of tavros nitram, she cant bare to let him go nor can she even stand to be around the real tavros, the one that never meets her expectations.”

- So many of Vriska’s iconic lines in her intro!! Such as “All of them.” and “Irons in the fire.”

- “You'll fuss with her meddling later.” I love early VrisKan, Kanaya is a smitten meddler in Vriska’s affair, wanting some sort of Red relationship with Vriska, wanting to be a supportive partner and team with Vriska. Vriska isn’t ready for this “soft” romance, to be tied down to someone as well adjusted or kind as Maryam. So she just puts up with all of Kanaya’s Bugging and fussing and meddling. I don't think she dislikes Kanaya, she just isn't sure how to approach her, so she leads her on in a way.

- When you highlight Doc Scratch's text, the highlight text fades into a deep jade green?? Oh my god that's such a fun effect! Was this implemented in the actual comic?? So fun.

- “Incredible, the risks you take with your scorn. But of course it was your unpleasant, simplistic temperament that made you so easy to control. Vicious and predictable, like an insect.” Just such a good line about Vriska from Scratch here.

- I love that even when Vriska is worked up and frustrated, she is still kind. Vriska is watered down to her conniving wicked ways far too often. Vriska, despite everything, is personable, she just knows who ( she thinks ) deserves her time and kindness and who doesn't. She opens this pesterlog ready to endure a clingy meddling Kanaya, who instead tells her about her Lusus dying. Which Vriska is in turn sensitive to, saying her mom seemed nice and she would have liked to meet her.

Kanaya is just too smitten to see that Vriska cannot accept her offer of a pacifier. ( Due to her own shortcomings and lack of resolve to out right reject her. ) Kanaya’s love is ultimately not worth Vriska. However, her efforts will not be wasted on a certain human girl, even if it will take alot time.

- “Some guy you were in cahoots with! You guess none of it matters now, though." Eridan and Vriska mention.. I love their stupid nerdy Kismetitude.

Equius feels he has the right to express his romantic feelings so openly, such as his hate crushes on Gamzee or Vacillating feelings on Aradia. It just breaks his stone-cold respectful proper facade SO fast and it’s just really entertaining to read.

Ugh. Gamzee is just so tragic, he was miserable while high but fuck he was so sweet and happy, I wish there was some middle ground they could of gave him while he was sober, but his brain must have been rotted since the began, so no matter what Karkat or anyone could have done, Gamzee was doomed since the beginning.

People mention this line from Equius, saying it could be a building off point for some kind of redemption for Equius, for him to learn why Alternian society is corrupt in most regards, for him to unlearn his classist ways and such, and reform himself accordingly and all that!! Of course the reason why this was never put into retrospect or resolved was because Nepeta and Equius were always doomed to be one off jokes since the beginning.

Equius is such a little freak man, I love him. He’s utterly deplorable, OBVIOUSLY racist AND classist, but he’s allowed to be entertaining okay!

Vriska and Terezi make me sick. They’re biggest difference and their downfall is their morals, Vriska believing in Survival of the Fittest while Terezi believes in Justified killings and Redemption.

- I wonder where Vriska picked up all of her goodbyes in different languages? The linguistics of Alterina is frustrating at best to me, nonetheless I find it a cute addition to her, it adds to her dramatic flair.

Vriska is so expressive and moody, she’s such a theater kid I LOVE reading her. The way she’s practically groveling and whining at Aradia just to give her ANY reaction.

Was this a cheap callback? Neighhaps. ( Also I swear Andrew just colored over that small sprite because why the fuck does his mouth looks so weird LMFAO. )

RED EquiAra: Ummmm! Okay.. I don’t entirely hate them? I like them in a comical sense, but also Araida doesn’t have any agency and Equius is being fetishistically prejudiced the whole time? Too many grey area’s consent wise to be able to like them! Also this song about them is a banger.

RED GamRezi: Maybe when Gamzee was sober? In context, them in any fashion is weird though. Plus I don’t think Gamzee would be Terezi’s type!

RED KanTav: MOVE ON OH GOD. In all seriousness, just no. I could see them in a HumanStuck comic where Tavros is all “kANAYA,, tHANK YOU FOR HELPING ME ON THAT PAPER,, i,, i LOVE YOU,,” and Kanaya would cringe and scrunch up her face trying to let him down in the politest way possible. “Oh Wow That Sure Wasn’T Something I Was Expecting To Come Out Of Your Mouth! You Are A Sweet Boy And All, However I Am A Lesbain Tavros. I Thought You Knew This. Um... Sorry?” and it would be super awkward for a while.

PALE GamTav: Very mixed feelings on this! On one hand it’s cute and I love the fan renditions! But on the other hand, I feel like it would go down the very common path in abusive relationships where Karakat would feel the need to save Gamzee from himself and would put all his time and effort into it, just destroying both of them in the process, blegh!

I love Karkat’s rants, they are pure honey to my ears. Especially this rant. Good shit man!!!! Karkat and Vriska clash together so well, both prone to going along with bullshit shengains so they can drag on a conversation for AGES, so they get themselves stuck in overly melodramatic rants that are so entertaining! They are just both my favorites, I love seeing them interact, a great dub of this scene btw hehe!

God this sequence is SO cool. Standard for the win, their companionship is such a nice touch and the fanworks are adorable.

- “Everyone does their part and you begin to learn the true meaning of teamwork, as well as this troll disease called friendship.” The troll’s session of Sgrub is so fascinating to me, fanworks like Rec Duodecim Angelus that explore it are just soso cool. They finished their session in like what, a week? Their species was fine tuned for a game like Sgrub. Thinking about all of the client/player dynamics, how competivce they were through Blue/Red teams. I see their session being split into two, as like a smart kid in math who gives themselves extra work to stay entertained and engaged because Sgrub was always going to be easy as shit for them, so the whole teams thing must have been so fun for them, dramatics flare and glory all that shit!

- Exile Black Queen looks so cool!! And also apparently the land Die and Spades in the Intermission were transported to was the future Alternian wasteland? I wonder how, like scientifically, it go so bright, along with the moons being so close.

- Act 5!!!!! The troll act!

- I’ve recently watched a recap series “Brad’s Big Homestuck Review” of Homestuck by an OG fan who expressed his frustration and distaste for the trolls. Besides being generally well put together and charismatic, I find his perspective very interesting. He presents the argument that comes from being a fan of his earlier work, and therefore the feel of works like Bardquest and Problem Sleuth which vaguely replicated early ACT Homestuck shenanigans and the INTERMISSION. The troll's introduction to the story breaks the format that his previous acts and works follow. The trolls are a sci fi self serious story break to the silly command format of his previous works, they mess with the story pacing wise, having to keep going backwards to account for the fact that they were totally supposed to be in the story this whole time. I was guilty of telling people just to “skip all the boring stuff and go to ACT 5.” Which I now find REALLY does a disservice to the simple but very humorous writing in the earlier acts. I, like most fans, now came to Homestuck after seeing the Trolls, so I have a very strong affinity and love for them, but I find the contrasting perspective Brad displays in his series so far to be very interesting and you should totally give it a watch!

I don’t know if i've mentioned this before, but Karkat is my favorite troll, i know HOT TAKE. I was the faction of the fandom who went all in on Karkat, Broadway Karkat, DaveKat all of it. I’ve grown to love much more beyond that, but Karkat still holds a very special place in my heart. So excuse me if most of my notes are just me gushing, hehe.

- Every Karkat panel is cool as shit in HiveBent, I love the way Hussie fused early ACT Homestuck geometric dynamic posings with the lineless colored art of Hivebent artstyle. God the trolls are just SO cool, they all have so much going on and it's just so fun to dive deep into each and every one of them. Side note, if i had more time on my hands i’d probably go ahead and translate these Alternian text panels, i might edit this later on with the translations... if i did you will see those here, but probably not.

- I will try my hardest not to just note “I love [BLANK] about Karkat!” because my gushing is not something I need to document, I am already well aware of my fondness for this stupid troll. THAT BEING SAID, as stated in my previous post i love John and Karkats parallels, in a meta sense and in the canon sense, such as being leaders and having similar interests. An aside, I have a section in my WatchList of human movies Karkat likes and said movies sorted into their respective quadrants. Have I gotten to this yet? Absolutely not, I might however around 6/12.

- YES!!!! Karkat’s leader/warrior complex is my favorite thing to dissect ever. Along with its interesting parallels and how it contrasts to Dave’s hero complex.. awesome.

- The only movie I know anything about on his poster wall is 50 first dates and it’s so morally wrong and the classic Adam Sandler level of bad and cheesy.

Karkat Vantas, the genius drapes giant curtains the color of his mutant blood. I love this shot of his Hive, it is just so cool and a great starting point for the marvel that is Alternian hive architecture. I love the weird as hell double winged fauna in the sky as well?

JohnKat parallels.. *foams at the mouth*.

Besides all the great lines from Karkat here, how mean he is to Gamzee, in retrospect kind of makes you wince. Do you think if Karkat was more involved, if he knew Gamzee’s mental state better he would have toned it down? Gamzee’s soper addiction is in no way Karkat’s responsibility, but my point still stands.

Gamzee’s Captchalogue Modus is a sight to behold.

I wonder if Terezi knows about Vriska’s mom? Would she feel bad for her? I honestly don't think so, I think it would recontextualize Vriska in her head, but I think she would find mommy issues a lousy excuse for her actions.

- “Or maybe some doomsday virus. You spend a lot of time thinking of ways to make the perfect doomsday virus” I get that Karkat is dramatic as all fuck and hates himself, but a doomsday device doesn’t really seem in character for him? Karkat has a very certain bootlicker quality to him, he stays in line with societal norms, he wants to be a part of his kind’s arm, to be an honored warrior in a sense, he has this pride in Alternia. Is this doomsday virus just an edgy joke I'm overthinking or is this some kind of foreshadowing, a base desire made by Karkat’s subconscious disapproval for a society he’s oppressed by?

I absolutely adore Karkat and Sollux’s dynamic, I wish people would explore their dynamic more! The only fanwork I can remember exploring their dynamic is a mini game in a homestuck fancomic Burning The House Down. There hole push and pull of “fuck you why am i even friends with you” to an immediate, “...Hey are we cool id didn’t mean that.” “Yeah me neither, we're good man I love you.” They’re both just so moody and dramatic and clash so entertaining.

The biggest tragedy of the Pre-Retcon Metor Trip is the Terezi lost all her nerd friends. Thinking about that one paradox space comic and getting sad is a regular occurrence for me.

- Terezi opening panelto the Court scene and the Terezi/Scalemate trail in general is a classic.

- Okay, so there are password pages, I assume are post retcon John affected storylines? I’m choosing to ignore them until I am told otherwise. ( Plus with the mirror im reading on Mspfa, these pages won’t load correctly anyways. )

Alot of people argue that this court scene shows her murderous intent. My question is this for dramatic roleplay purposes or is this murderous desire coming to fruition? ( Take my next point with a grain of salt, my memory is notoriously bad. ) People bring this up in the VrisRezi coin flip, Vriska says Terezi is wrong to fault her for her murders, saying she knows Terezi is bloodthirsty aswell, and people use this scene to show that claim is not baseless.

I love when Hussie points out how small the Kids are to scale to literally anything else, I love stupid meta art jokes.

Was I the only one who made the presumption that Terezi lived in a forest??? Because in [S] Make Her Pay. she was walking in a forest, which is presumed to be around her hive right? Her weapon is different aswell, I guess little inconsistencies are bound to happen when you implement future panels into the story.

- Terezi roleplays facetiously?? Really???? I guess that would make sense in context of their culture, siiiigh! Anyways, Nepeta!!!! Yippie!

They’re so underrated as a duo. Scratch n Sniff ( Best ship name ever ) should be alot more obvious, I prefer it over the other go to sapphic ships, such as JadeNep. Just weird trolls girls doing their thing, adorbs!

Karkat’s literally such an immature baby it’s SO fun to read, and I am also a big fan of Terezi’s flirty little quips at him. I have gone on this rant numerous times but I think KarRezi is the perfect example of young and dumb tween love, they are clumsy and messy and just really care about eachother. Waits patiently for the “ADORABLOODTHIRSTY” Pesterlog.

John and Karkat are so special to me.

- I MIGHT have mentioned this before, but I have long since forgotten early Araida/Sollux’s characterization. They’re ominous conversations pre-Sburb, both getting terrible internal premonitions and whispers, doomed to fail, to die. They’re both so resolute and spooky, I find them utterly fascinating.

I love how small Karkat is in scale to CrabDad. Mid-ACT Homestuck panels are a hit or miss, I just like the composition and block out colors of this panel.

I love Karkat’s shitty drawing on the fridge just like John’s. I like to think the close John/Karkat parallels also imply that CrabDad is supportive and loving like Dad Egbert, even if he’s a little crabby and can get easily frustrated, he’s always there for Karkat at the end of the day, even if he’s a huge brat. I have a feeling Karkat would be a little accepting of his Dad’s affection however.

- Sollux’s pseudo introduction on page 2073 is a ramble-liy mess of mood swings and cool guy tropes.

I’m not qualified enough to really get into this hc, nor do i have enough time to give it the phrasing or focus such a topic like deserves but it is a very popular headcanon that Sollux has Bipolar, for his numerous symptoms along with the fact that the Gemini/Twin/Two theming is an obvious quality that Hussie most surely was trying to implement here.

- APPARENTLY LORD ENGLISH WAS FORESHADOWED TO ALL THE WAY BACK ON PAGE 2092??? I didn't think he was made with all that much foresight to be honest but hey i've been wrong before.

- Tavros’s room is such a teenage boy room to me, its so bright and inviting I'd love to all up and get my chill on with this motherfucker.

- Vriska’s first Persterlog! She is one of the trolls with a really clear voice in my head while I read her. She’s so blunt and has this dramatic tone, like every phrase she says could be belted out on a stage. Vriksa is my second favorite troll, very close to Karkat, I find her veeeeeeeery endearing!

- Terezi’s Lussi’s doomsday device counting down from 6/12! Another John/Kat parallel, birthday number motif!

- The Aradia from panel style to sprite mode visual gag is actually perfect.

- I love Kanaya’s meddling ways, it’s such a fun trait to her. ( I as a Virgo, can personally relate, hehe. ) In FunkMclovin’s Homestuck au series, HSAU their Kanaya is much more clingy with her fussing Vriska, they ramp up this aspect of her early teen days which i really enjoy. Kanaya is an unconventional troll, she is troll goth, ( her and her hive are dressed in bright patterns and colors, contrasting to the greys and blacks of Alternain fashion. ) she is very calm and kind compared to her peers, being friendly and helpful to those around her to an annoying degree.

Aradia and Vriska are such an interesting duo. Vriska is infatuated with her in someway or other. ( her mind is just too busy to really give her the time of day however, ) Araida never takes the bait in someway or other. ( either intentionally in her undead state or passively in her GodTeir state. ) Toxic yuri, my beloved.

I absolutely love the visual gags Hussie makes with the babies, I love how they’re all doing their weird little things, the babies clinging onto John vs the ones just flailing around. Adorable shit man.

Bluh they're so sweet. A proper gentleman and a beautiful dame. This panel is so cool, I love the shapes Hussie gets to work with while drawing the adults, opposed to the rectangular Beta kids. Great composition and color work and all that hehe.

- I REALLY enjoy the visual gag of ( ...ok i’m gonna start referring to the Guardians as the Alpha kids for now. ) Dirk breaks the Ecto Slime container, because of course he would. John is a terrible babysitter, Dirk was JUST born and is already extending his free will in self harmful ways. Everybody is just real cute, I want plushies of them all NOW. Page 1907 is a mess full of inconsistencies and dare I say PLOT HOLES. To start off with, Karkat’s sign in John’s glasses is Bright Red. Karkat understands numerous human concepts, and we ( the fandom ) as a collective have made up the “You don't know [Insert Name]?” “NO????” “Troll [insert name]?” “OH. OF COURSE I KNOW TROLL [Insert Name].” joke for giggles and gaggles or this was corrected later. This applies to all the human folklore and superheroes he knows, his human movie knowledge can be rationalized, he said he watched some in an earlier pesterlog, so many that's where he picks up on human concept such as what a father is? ( Despite all my critique, i find this interaction very cute, big fan of Karkat’s frustrated key smashes at the end then relenting to John, Johnkat for life. )

OKAY BUT THIS WAS ENTIRELY JOHN’S FAULT. OHHHH MY GOD. Another Tavros/Jake similarity, killing Guardians because of their own stupidity. Jake dooming himself and Jane to living alone with the abusive baroness however is just poetically tragic.

- You don’t understand how many times I make my friends sit through this with me. I’m pretty sure I made my MOM watch it. I don't want to clumsily explain the whole thing so all I really have to say is I love the art, how the babies don't even want the bunnies, how John basically LUNGES the bunnies at them and Karkat's utter astonishment, the whole thing is just REALLY funny and that this is the best cover of anything ever.

Is a masterpiece. Seriously go watch this for yourself, my relaying the highlights will not do this Flash justice. First we open with Dave entering his land with assistance from Bro. Bro is nothing but cool, he’s the epitome of it, he can make splitting an oncoming meteor look effortless. Cut from pretty up close shots of Mom lalonde and Dad Egbert ( ooo foreshadowing... woah. ) to smooth jazz and Jack Noir. Jack Noir sets off the Red Mile Massacre, destroying the Skaian battlefield and setting Prospit aflame. Derse agent DD makes a paradox clone of Halley, making Bec. Cut to Jade dreaming on prospit, the white queen and her court take their leave while John and Jade Descend to the Skaian Battlefield. The fact that bro can even stand a chance against Jack Noir, is worthy of praise. Dave fights with his new suit and gear, absolutely killing it, looking cool all the while. Rose’s Descend into the Horror Terrors and whispers of the FURTHEST RING deepens. The flash ends with JadeBot exploding and a presumed dead Dream Jade.

- Page 1943 practically gave conformation of my suspicions. The Dream Exiles are just the Exiles from the past. So not another life or another universe! Shown by WV’s robe just being John’s blanket fallen from Prospit.

This panel is just SO cool, PM is so badass.

I love this pseudo Jake introduction. It’s FULL English, he’s excitedly blabbering on, making classic little missteps such as calling Jade boring, and his old English proper way of speaking is in full force!
