AI Challenge #7 - July 2026
Dream Job as set by @astrogurlnikkipinkai in what promises to be another fantastic challenge.
Never an easy selection, I never wanted to be a Spaceman or Firefighter or similar occupations.
A Lighthouse Keeper may be considered an isolated occupation but it does appeal to me.
It has both responsibility at the same time a sense of adventure in an old- fashioned kind of way.
Yes you are going to be in isolation and life will have its struggles, keeping supplies and provisions will not be easy.
Of course there will be long days without incident, making sure the light shines is the key consideration.
Honing your map reading skills will be easy with so much time on your hands too.
It would be anything but a 'Seasonal' job. Yes Summer is always something to look forward to.
Although the drama is never going to be confind to the Winter Season, it does lend itself to dark stormy days and nights.
Being in such a place to marvel at the power of Nature and see first hand how it keeps our World turning.
To give Mother Nature all due respect at all times.
Yes you can temper the isolation with social media. Using your spare time productively is important. If only to keep in touch with that outside World.
Then there has to be that responsibility. Knowing you need to keep the Lighthouse operating to safeguard those on the Sea.
Stepping into the storm is not always recommend but how else do you ensure everything is operating correctly?
Even if just to check the liberty boat is secured to the landing bay.
You are in effect not unlike an Astronaut in a Space Capsule. You are inside a structure that is the only protection you have against the elements. You need to assess every weather forecast and update charts, hoping the Lighthouse is always there when a Ship does run into a storm.
Of course the isolation does also provide that added bonus of being able to dress how you wish. Keeping just enough 'clothes' in the event you do need to change !
