In which my poor drow is both confused, and slightly disgusted and trying to decide if they need to whip the skeleton away from a party member or if it's some strange ritual thing of that party member.

Why? Because said party member last time we were playing D&D together... well their character decided to lick a bone belonging to aforementioned (thankfully dead skeleton) to ... try and detect magic. None of the party got chance to react/stop party member, but yes you got the rare point where Reldaer is giving more then just the faintest slightest hint of expression.

I'm also experimenting with trying to give the feeling of the primary light being torch light and possibly some wall sconces so this could be fun (also need to add the slightest hint of glow.

Quizzing Reldaer - 1 question at a time

Question: What animal best represents you? Reldaer: ... Probably a cat. I have my chosen people that I trust... to an extent at least... I wouldn't go so far as to call them family... and I try and keep them out of danger, because some of them have as much common sense as a new born kitten at times. But anyone outside of my chosen people get met with hisses and distrust... as does the sun. The hissing part I mean.

From the mortal that handles all the art things: Well I -tried- to follow a Bob Ross tutorial.... but doing it digitally when even Adobe Fresco (I don't have access to procreate until they decide to make it useable on PC) lacks palette knife dynamics ^.^;;

Rune of the Week - ᚨ (Ansuz)

The lessons from Ansuz focus on leadership, vision and communication. It is a rune that in upright position (as it fell this week) has ties to Odin - ruler of the Aesir and of Asgard.

Take heed of this rune, and look for times where you can either take leadership of a situation, or where leadership lessons may be present - even if that lesson is accountability. Or do you maybe have a vision for something you want to achieve, but have been hesitating to take the leadership to bring it into being?

Or maybe you haven't communicated your vision to the team you lead. Likewise if there's a situation where you feel like you need to communicate your needs, or communicate your side of a situation - this rune may be the sign you need.

I never realised how much of a difference being able to see ALL of a screen actually made... yes I've just finished 'fixing' my mounting set up so that all my screens are fully visible ^.^;;;

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.

Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.

Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.

Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.

SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.

SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.

Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.

Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.

Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.

Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.

I got a bit bored and wanted to see if I could depict my character as a dice... I don't know if I succeeded but it is -very- pretty. I just didn't know if I wanted to do one with or without an eye watching you all!

Regarding Sunlight

Sometimes I consider the overly bright light of the sun, the way it stings and burns my eyes, as rather a form of penance, and yes indeed punishment for the general wickedness of my own people. The wicked nature that seems innate to them, yet I firmly suspect it is more down to the way they have been brought up. From my own perspective at least Lloth, and the Llothite worship, and the chaos and push for power and advancing ones station in an endless dance surely stagnates change, as much as it forces a constant exhausting cycle of adaptation.

The sting has lessened someone from the blinding, burning, searing sensastion that kept me trapped in the cave entrance, forcing me to wait for a time even I knew not when it would happen. But eventually that bright light softened, the cave entrance was coated with reds and oranges... and finally a silvery light gently caressed the entrance. This light was far friendlier, and it was under this light - the light of the moon and stars that I ventured out of the cave.. and took my first steps upon the surface.

I accept the stinging burn of the suns fierce light, mayhaps out of a desire that just as the suns light and the distance from the underdark caused the magic infused drow armour and garb I once wore to burn away into rags and scraps, maybe it will also release me and guide me away from the darker nature of the drow. I came to the surface to try and find a new life.

Yet in this new life, split with the searing light of the sun, that forces me to squint or find some shade to relieve the sting, I take delight in those times I can see the soft silver light of the moon, and look up to the stars... and wonder upon their names and the names of the shapes that they form in the sky.

Introducing Reldaervayas'Ust formerly of House Claddur, but now of no house. First born daughter of the now deceased house matriarch.... they decided to forge their own route, rejecting everything they had been taught since birth upon discovering the scrolls with some forbidden knowledge, as well as discovering their own gender identity. Reldaervayas, Reldaer to their friends, uses they/them pronouns and is my drow ranger... and is very whippy.

By which I mean they use a whip for their weapon at the minute at least and well... they've been EVER so much fun to play. Expect random musings from Reldaer's perspective as well. They have various stories to tell ... if someone has the time to sit down and listen.
