Hello, I absolutely love your No Happy Environment Moodlets Mod, it really helps me with story telling. I just wanted to know, does this also work with the Energizing buff? It works well with the Happy Environment buff but there's also a "Energizing Decor" (From Happy Environment) buff and my sim is still happy through being energetic.

The No Happy Environment mod only disables the happy environment moodlets. It doesn’t affect the emotional aura moodlets, because those usually can be disabled on the object if the player doesn’t want them.

In Meaningful Stories, there is a similar feature to disable the happy environment moodlets. But there is also a feature to overhaul the emotional environment moodlets, and make them behave a little more believably. Try it out!

The Sims 4 patch 1.52.100 - The Island Living Patch

The game patch for The Sims 4 today was to prepare the game for the Island Living expansion releasing later this week, and also included new Pride-themed items.

My mods are not affected by the patch, and you can continue to use them.

Meaningful Stories v1.0.4.0 - True Happiness bugfixes

My Meaningful Stories mod for The Sims 4 is updated with some bugfixes.

Meaningful Stories v1.0.4 changelog: Whims for the Fine mood - Sims that are feeling 'fine' can once again roll whims for their emotional whim slot. This updates the feature for a change to how emotional whims worked introduced in a previous game update.

Hi, I just discovered your mod meaningful stories, and it looks just what TS4 needs. But before I start using it I have a question. Do Meaningful Stories and mods that affect moods like "Low Fun is Boring" and "Sleepiness Is Not Uncomfortable" conflict?

Hi. Im not sure if you answered this question already so here goes, what do I do with the CFG file? Thank you tons!!

The .cfg files you will find in your mods folder named after my mods, like ‘roBurky - MeaningfulStories-Settings.cfg’ are configuration files that the mod creates after you use it. The .cfg files are used to remember any settings that you change, and which tutorial messages you have seen.

Keep the .cfg files in the same place as the mod files if you want to keep your settings and tutorial progress, or you can delete the file to reset them!

The Sims 4 patch 1.51.75 - The Freelancer Update

The game patch for The Sims 4 today included bugfixes and a new Freelancer career.

My mods are not affected by the patch, and you can continue to use them

Many other mods have had their text broken by the patch. If you are a mod creator affected by this, I have information on a fix in this blog post. If any more information on the issue becomes available, I will post it there.

Hi Roburky. I love your mods and I downloaded the meaningful stories mod a few weeks ago before it was released. However, it just wont show up in game. I cant se roburky to open the settings when I click on my sim and I don't get any meaningful stories notifications in game. I have tried redownloading it and adding it to my mods folder a few times but it just wont show up :'( Do you have any advice?

Not seeing the welcome notification or the settings interaction on your sim after installing Meaningful Stories usually means the script portion of the mod is not installed properly. Here are some things to check:

You have both ‘roBurky - MeaningfulStories.package’ and ‘roBurky - MeaningfulStories.ts4script’ in your mods folder.

The files are all out of the zip file.

The files are not more than one folder level deep inside your mods folder.

You have both custom content and script mods enabled in the game's settings menu.

If all that is correct, you should see Meaningful Stories show in the popup list of mods when you start the game, under both the ‘custom content’ heading and the ‘script mods’ heading.

If you need more help, try my Discord server, where I or other knowledgeable people might be around to walk you through things.

It won’t let me load the household after installing it ,it takes me back to the worlds and when I take the mod out I can play Normally how do it fix this ? All my mods are up to date.

It’s hard to help with issues like this when they are submitted as anonymous questions!

Hi! LOVE your mods!! Quick question? I'm curious as to why you have a (default) option where "happy" is grey and "fine" is green - like I'm not understanding the appeal to switching those two colors? Instead of seeing your sim in a mostly grey (fine) mood and green when they're deservingly happy which seems to make more sense? Like I said I see that you included an option to switch it back to "normal" but I'm wondering why someone would prefer the opposite? Thank you!

The main reason for the changed mood colors in Meaningful Stories and True Happiness is a practical one. Moodlets always appear green when boosting other moods, and I can’t change this with modding, so keeping the positive boosting mood as green keeps everything consistent and easy to understand at a glance.

Without it, the same moodlet at different times can appear all-white, all-green, or green+other. When the sim is truly happy, their true happy moodlets and their fine moodlets would appear identical and impossible to tell apart - both fully green.

It might help if you don’t think of the mood colors as being swapped, but as the name of the happy mood as being changed, and the true happy mood being an entirely new mood that has been added. The unmodded happy mood has a lot more in common with the fine mood of Meaningful Stories than it does the true happy mood.It might also help to think of the true happy’s color as shining white like the platinum mood of The Sims 2.

My Meaningful Stories mod for The Sims 4 is out now! You can now enjoy the results of two years spent redesigning the emotions of The Sims.

Meaningful Stories is a mod pack that redesigns the mood and emotions system of The Sims 4. This collection of changes big and small aims to allow your sims to feel more human, to make the events in their lives feel more meaningful, and to turn managing their lives into a more interesting challenge.

Your sim might get into a depressive rut for days that takes planning and effort and some help from their friends to overcome. Or your sim's creative nature might be filling them with inspiration when they ought to be focused instead, so you send them to work on their novel to get the ideas out of their head. But then something special happens, like a new friend, a promotion, or a first kiss, and they feel truly happy for once, in a way they never have before.

Meaningful Stories release date delayed :(

Meaningful Stories will be available to everyone on Thursday 7th February.

I became unwell around the time I announced the previous release date, and have been unable to do a lot of the preparation I needed to do before the release in the time I needed to. I'm back at work now and getting caught up, but I unfortunately do need to delay the launch date.

I owe a big apology to all those who follow this blog, heard about the date, and were looking forward to playing with the mod tomorrow. I'm really sorry for the disappointment caused.

Meaningful Stories has a release date!

Meaningful Stories for The Sims 4 will be available for everyone on Thursday 7th February.

This is the culmination of two years of modding The Sims 4′s moods system, and I’m excited to finally start sharing it widely.

Meaningful Stories is a mod pack that redesigns the moods and emotions system of The Sims 4. This collection of changes big and small aims to allow your sims to feel more human, to make the events in their lives feel more meaningful, and to turn managing their lives into a more interesting challenge. Your sim might get into a depressive rut for days that takes planning and effort and some help from their friends to overcome. Or your sim's creative nature might be filling them with inspiration when they really ought to be focused instead, so you send them to work on their novel to get the ideas out of their head. But then something special happens, like a new friend, a promotion, or a first kiss, and they feel truly happy for once, in a way they never have before.

From that date, there will be two versions of the mod available - a public version and a preview version. Patrons will continue to play and test upcoming features with the preview version, at a new download link that will outline the differences between the two versions. Features will move from the preview version to the public version when I am happy with them and consider them finished.

There's currently a poll happening for my +3 inspired patrons where they are voting on which of the other upcoming features they find most exciting, which will guide where I put my efforts into next.

True Happiness for The Sims 4 v1.10.0

True Happiness has an update out, adding in true happy moodlets from recent expansions, game packs, and stuff packs.

With True Happiness for The Sims 4, your sims will experience happiness differently.  Happiness for your sims will be something fleeting, meaningful, and personal. It's something you will find difficult to seek out, but be able to appreciate when it happens. Your sim might be having a day that's merely OK, until something special happens, like a new friend, a promotion, or a first kiss, and they feel truly happy for once. You'll be happy for them, too, because that good mood might be the push they need to make today's painting a masterpiece, or to improve their grade at school. Happiness will no longer be your sims' default state. They will feel truly happy only when something worthy of it happens to them, and it should feel like their life is improved for experiencing it.

Uncomfortable Overhaul for The Sims 4 v0.7.0

Uncomfortable Overhaul for The Sims 4 has an update out with a bugfix, some changes to the scripting, and a spruced-up download page.

What it does Discomfort will affect your sim's mood in new ways. Small amounts of discomfort can make your sim more susceptible to other negative thoughts, tipping them over into being overcome with anger, tension, or sadness. But when it's appropriate, the 'uncomfortable' mood can still take centre stage and make your sim feel awful.

It can help your sims feel a little more human, and allow them to experience a wider range of emotions.

v0.7.0 Changelog:

- Mood strength modifiers are now properly accounted for by the Passive Discomfort feature. Teens will no longer be incorrectly boosted into higher intensity levels of negative emotions by uncomfortable moodlets. - Scripts reworked as part of work on Meaningful Stories - In-game links menu removed - The mod no longer uses a package file, and 'roBurky - UncomfortableOverhaul.package' can be safely deleted before installing 0.7.0
