— Progress Report #3 (& sneak peek!)
All hail the anon who reminded me about this.
So… how’s the progress going?
I ended up changing a lot of stuff during my break. Instead of starting with the prologue, as planned, I’ve decided to jump straight into Chapter One. The prologue was starting to spiral into something way too massive (to the point I couldn't call it a prologue anymore) — honestly, it was becoming longer than any of the chapters I’ve planned. And constantly writing variations of the same scene(s) was getting exhausting.
A friend also gave me some solid advice: don’t reveal the Big Thing too early. Don’t worry though—you’re not missing out on any crucial! Everything that I had written for the prologue will still be revealed— just gradually. That will keep me from feelings worn out. (Everything will be out in the open by chapter 7—there’s a lot more drama I need to get to, and I can't let the past hog the spotlight for too long, especially when it’s going to mess character dynamics 💀)
But here's the good news! You’ll get to meet all the ROs in Chapter One—except for Shay.
Also considering of making these little progress reports a weekly thing! This week’s been especially productive—I’m pretty proud of myself. I wrote 10k words for one scene (and it’s still only 1/3rd done… send help).
Sneak peeks attached below! Almost all of these show up after specific choices, so no worries about your MC acting out of character.
