Proton was an idiot. Archer had never once doubted that since the day they met. Useful, yes. Occasionally interesting, yes. Intelligent? No. It was only made worse by the fact that Proton was far from accepting of his idiocy. Heâd always thought heâd had Archer figured out, that he was smarter and superior. Archer made his way by letting people believe what they wanted and remaining largely in the background, but Protonâs superior attitude was a good deal more offensive to his sense of pride.
âDoes she have Muk for brains,â he repeated, mockingly thoughtful. âI donât know, youâll have to try to recall for yourself. Crystalâs beaten you easily in several battles, if I remember right. Of course, that nothing but toxic sludge occupies your skull has never been something that I doubted.â
Proton snorted, tensing immediately at the recollection Archer brought forth. He did remember her and he also did not appreciate that little stroll down memory lane. He liked to chalk those moments up to temporary weakness and vowed to make himself stronger ever since.
Though, all of that aside, Proton could help but find a little amusement in all of this.
"Hm, Archer, are you standing up for that young girl?" he asked, a smirk forming on his face. "Don't tell me you've gone soft! Because it seems to me that you've forgotten that child has also beaten you in several battles."
"She should be an enemy," Proton hissed, sharp green eyes burning into Archer's. "We should rise up again and destroy her, along with that little prick, Gold."
