I am a Kayak Angler.
Thinking of summer. #kayakfishing #jacksonkayak
My Wordpress Site is gone. I will BLOG on Tumblr from now on.
Bass Fishing at Rockport Reservoir I little bass fishing on Rockport Reservoir in Northern Utah with Bill See and Joe Randall. This was my first video shot with a GoPro.
My First My first fish caught on my Jackson Coosa HD, happens to also be the first bass I have caught in my life, along with a perch, which was also a first for me. Awesome weekend.
New Jackson Coosa HD Finally received my New Jackson Coosa HD in the Mangrove color. It's like Christmas in July.
Vertical Jigging for Trout
Vertical Jigging for Trout
When fishing typical Northern Utah lakes and reservoirs, what’s the most efficient, effective and effortless way to catch trout during the summer months? Believe it or not, the answer is vertical jigging, the same method you’d use through the ice, complete with the identical lines, lures, and presentations.
This is not meant to diminish the advantages of controlled-depth fishing with downriggers…

June’s Trout Challenge Kayak Fishing Utah presents June's Trout Challenge. You must have a Utah Fishing License and catch Trout in Utah public waters. Go to the Tournaments tab above and register now or click here.
Mantua Reservoir I posted a new video of my trip with Heroes on the Water to Mantua, Utah. The weather ran us off about an hour into fishing, but the paddling was nice. Enjoy.
Fulfilment
Years ago my dear wife asked me, “If you could be anything in the world, what would you be?”
Thanks to Bill See and Clark Gallo, I am now on a path to the answer I gave her. A Fishing Guide. And not only a Fishing Guide, but a Kayak Fishing Guide.
I can’t tell you how grateful I am for the opportunity to work in an industry I have come to love. I am looking forward to earning my Guide’s License…

How to choose your next PFV
How to choose your next PFV
In the 30+ years of fishing the Intermountain West, I have used a few Personal Fishing Vessels (PFV’s). I started off fishing from shore. When I got the itch to get away from shore I followed a natural progression dictated by my then current situations. I have used a float tube, followed by a 9-foot pontoon boat. My first kayak was a 14-foot Ocean Kayak Prowler. I am now in an 11’-8” Emotion…

Waterproof USB Case for the SJCAM 4000 HD I have had an SJCAM 4000 HD Camera for about a year and half now. I have been very happy with it, except for one major thing.
My new Emotion Stealth PRO Angler
My new Emotion Stealth PRO Angler
Words can’t describe the feeling you have of unwrapping a new kayak. For those of you that have done this, you know what I mean. Yesterday, I headed an hour north to Clearfield Utah, home to Hill Air Force Base and Lifetime Products. Lifetime produces many things, but I was interested in only one today, the new Emotion Stealth PRO Angler Kayak. In November of 2011, Lifetime purchased the…

Sand Hollow Winter Sand Hollow State Park is a stab of blue in a desert landscape of red. With it’s warm waters, red sandstone cliffs, and brilliant orange sand beaches, it makes the perfect winter get away.
Alright. As promised, here is part 2 of the Raymarine Firefly 5 Pro Install on my Ocean Kayak Trident 13. There are so many ways to mount the head unit. Until I get this out on the water, I am not sure that this is where it will stay. However, I already mounted a RAM Attwood/Fish-On Wedge Base with 1″ ball on the front of the Mod Pod, so this is where I mounted the head unit.
The mount on the Firefly is Ram compatible, so all I needed was a RAM-B-201U-A, Short length double socket arm. The wires were fished through the Sonar Pod in an existing hole. (I need to seal all the extra holes left over from a Humminbird install). I installed a 5 amp fuse and ran the power wire forward to the battery bag.
Raymarine Firefly 5 Pro Install (Part 2) Alright. As promised, here is part 2 of the Raymarine Firefly 5 Pro Install on my Ocean Kayak Trident 13.

Raymarine Firefly 5 Pro Install (Part 1)
I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a Raymarine Dragonfly 5 Pro with Navionics+. Being that it is Winter here in the great state of Utah, I have not had it on the water yet. However, I thought I would share my install with you.
In this post, I will show you how I mounted the wickedly large transducer. The Raymarine transducer is about 8″ long, so it would not fit in the scupper mount…
