Range Journal 11.27.17
(And there was brief excursion earlier this month I didnāt catalog (11/1), round count was around 130 total (120 G.34 #1 10 G.34 #2) Did a 7yd DT, some timed drills and I think some FASTs. Shot while fasted and after doing combatives training.
Now, onto 11/27. I decided to go the range today after getting tired of being sick and holed up at home. I felt good enough to go out and get some fresh air and that was the biggestĀ āmissionā of today.
I shot the 92G-BT exclusively save for 16 rounds with G.34 #2 (for a control). 164 rounds of 9mm total.
But I did start off shooting 24 rounds through my AR pistol, zeroing for 100m. Despite my user error and fatigue, it should be zeroed with M855. Obviously will re confirm next opportunity.
Once the pistol got zeroed, I set up a 5 yd DT and proceeded to shoot it 45/50. Not bad for a gun I hadnāt handled in nearly three months and while sick today. There were two routine misses on #3 and #6, and the serious misses were 3 shots on #8 (surprise surprise).
After shooting DT, I set up the 26662 drill at 5 yds and ran it under time. Holy hell the stress! I like it though. I shot approximately 40 rounds with the Beretta but I only managed to write down my clean scores. In order of them being shot they were: 5.00; 5.51; 6.18; 6.45; 5.43 (obviously the time to beat is 5.00s at 5 yds). For scienceās sake, I ran 3 instances of this drill with my carry piece, the G.34 #2. Times were 5.85-2; 5.46-1; 5.73-2). I didnt sweat the misses as I was trying to gauge speed, and on the last one I threw that one away by not using the sights. The times and accuracy overall make me consider that I shot a Beretta 92 and a Glock 34 pretty much the same. This indicates to me something which I kind of know already: Pressing the trigger itself is not where I need more work, it is in my draw and in my sight picture. Good thing these can be solved with dry-fire.
The last part of my shooting involved a 6ā³ circle for an ad-hoc Bill Drill. First one was shot 4.40 clean at 5 yds. I moved the target back to 7 after that.
1. 4.85 clean
2. 6.27 cleanĀ
3. 4.78 -1
I did two FASTs before packing up:
1. 7.23 (missed first shot)
2. 7.08 (clean).
Due to my involvement in BJJ, I havenāt been dry-firing as much, and it shows. I am still content with my basic accuracy however.
