The animation industry (both past and present) is sooo predominantly ran by white people, I'm not even talking about just the greedy CEOS, i'm talking about the actual artists hired too. As much as I love watching the production of classic Disney movies... that's something I've always noticed. Aladdin and Jasmine's design being based on multiple white actresses/actors.. INCLUDING ONE OF THE ANIMATORS little sister. (Alladin is a whole mess of its own, everyone knows)....that weird racist fish in the little mermaid.....Disney's first black animator Flyod Norman worked on sleeping beauty. You know... THEIR 16TH FILM

While I do look up to many of the iconic disneh animators and writers such as Glen Keane, Chris Sanders, and Milht khal. I really do wish to see more poc,women, and queer individuals. literally any more diversity in the people who play a LARGE role in filmmaking. There has been more context from these groups of people who have gotten an opportunity to get their ideas out in recent years, Domee Shi's "Turning Red" being based on her life growing up as a Chinese-Canadian woman. "Elemental" reflecting on themes of Korean family values and sacrifice.

Even Elio's queer themes (that were removed), but it's still not enough. Even though these movies DO exist they've all done poorly financially and critically, (mostly Elio, and Lightyear ect). And these films' failures are always blamed on the "wokeness" "the diversity is what made it fail" as its "not as relatable to a Broad audience". No! It's because the true stories that these people are trying to tell are being sanitized into its most digestible form. Elio is a prime example of how the story's original idea of Elio being a young queer-boy was scrubbed by the shareholders, because they want MONEY, we here at Disney and Pixar can't have a movie about a BOY who DRESSES UP and is CREATIVE? Think about all the dollars we'd lose ohhhhh boy!!!!!!!.

It's not all doom and gloom in the long run. The small bits of representation that we have outside of Disney should be appreciated. Uplift voices! Go crazy about something you see and love in a movie. The more vocal people are about GOOD representation the more we can influence other studios, and hey if Disney isn't going to do it, someone else will.
