I have seen some unrest in Xavier's part of the fandom recently that is very disheartening as it mischaracterizes him and his symbology. I have seen where some Xavier mains are complaining that the new LI Valko is using a symbol that has been a canon Xavier symbol - The Moon. They are asking that it be removed from Valko's symbols.
I am here to dispel that. First, let's look at Xavier. Xavier's primary symbols include his light evol and Stars. The moon is represented mostly in his myth, Lumiere. The moon is used with his light evol to help with attacks and shadows. So, it is used to enhance battle techniques. Outside that myth, you have some instances where the moon has been present, but it is not in his primary symbols. And, Xavier can still function as his full character without the moon's presence.
Now, here are some things to consider. Valko is a werewolf, and the moon is a primary symbol of his persona. Without it he cannot be a werewolf. Without the moon, his character could not exist in it's current form. The wolf form always relies on the moon's phases.
Let's also insert Rafayel as God of Tides and the Lemurian Sea God. There are numerous instances, written and visual of the moon in his myths, and within his cards. Without the moon, the tides would not exist, and the ocean itself would cease to exist in the form in which it currently is. So, Rafayel also uses the moon as a symbol within his lore.
Sylus also has moon visuals. Upon his entrance in the game, he is seen in front of a red moon. And, his special Glint background includes this red moon.
I am not aware at the moment of Zayne or Caleb's use of the moon within their lore, but I am sure it is present, if anyone would like to enlighten us.
Also realize that this is a Sci-Fi game, and with the title of 'Deepspace,'so the use of anything dealing with cosmology is standard and probably used for any and all of the men interchangeably.
Point is...Xavier is NOT tied to the moon exclusively as a canon symbol. This goes for each character and their symbols. We need to really pay attention to the characters and their lore. Without knowing others' lore, if you are a purist in one or more people, but are unaware of others' lore, please do research before attacking the game, the players or the company. This is part of the issue we are having within the fandom.
I will not be tagging or copy/pasting the OG posts I see, as I am not going to call out people maliciously. I just need it known that homework must be done prior to making such claims. I see far too much hate and confusion when there are so many people out there that share lore, and there are free ways to go watch cards, such as YouTube.
From one Xavier main...to the rest of the LADS girlies...let's love our men and keep them from being mischaracterized in a healthy, positive manner.
