Rather than submitting to our Tumblr, all submissions will be posted directly to our Ao3 Collection. If you do not have an ao3 account, we encourage you to get one ASAP. If you still don't have an account by the time submissions are due (because sometimes ao3 takes a while...), message us mods and we open up Tumblr submissions as an exception for you.
Reveals will still start March 1st, but fics will be due on February 25th, three days earlier than before. We will NOT accept late submissions or give deadline extensions. We have discovered that it takes a lot of work to organize submissions for reveal day, and we need time between closing the deadline and revealing. Late submissions require us to redo some of this work, and our lives are hectic, so this year they will not be accepted. We apologize for the inconvenience!

What is the Romione Trope Fest?
The Romione Trope Fest is a celebration of our two favorite idiots in love, and all the wonderful fanfic tropes that we can’t get enough of! We will provide a list of seven popular tropes, and it’s up to you (our creators!) to give them your best Romione spin. We believe there’s no such thing as “overdone” because every creator provides something unique, and can give even the most common tropes a fresh look. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
What are the rules?
All fics/art must include Romione as the main pairing.
All fics/art must fall within a relevant trope category.
All content must be new and original.
Any fics/art detailing rape or abuse are not permitted (please ask a mod if you’re unsure about your content)
New for 2026: All entries must be posted to our Ao3 Collection and include: Title, Author, Selected Trope, Brief Summary, Rating, Word Count (if applicable), and any relevant trigger warnings.
When will the fest take place?
We will start accepting content on January 1st, 2026, and submissions will close on February 25th, 2026. Posting begins on Ron’s birthday, March 1st, 2025. We will post all of the stories from one trope each day, meaning the fest will last seven days!

Do I have to claim a trope?
Nope! Anyone can use any trope from the list. Every writer and artist is unique, and we know that every story will be just as original as the person who created it!
Can I write about any trope?
You can choose from any of the 2026 Tropes, but please stick to this list! If your favorite trope isn’t listed, send a suggestion to our ask box and maybe it’ll show up next season =)
Can I include more than one trope in the same story?
Sure! But you must include a “primary trope” so we can release your fic on it’s trope day!
Is there a word count limit?
Nope! We welcome original art of any style, fics of any length, even multi-chaps as long as the first chapter is complete upon submission. Â
Why are there only seven options?
Because seven is the most magical number! There are seven years at Hogwarts, seven Weasley children, seven core classes, seven books in the series, seven categories of spells, and thus, seven tropes in the Romione Trope Fest.Â
But for real, we are limiting the number of tropes because there are too many to count! This way each trope category will have multiple submissions, and we can celebrate everyone’s different takes on common themes. It’ll also offer a bit of a challenge for our creators If all goes well, we will host another fest and include a fresh list of tropes.Â
Fun fact: All of the tropes chosen for this year’s fest were ones that YOU, our writers and readers suggested! So thank you for your input!
Can I create multiple works?
Yes! You can create as many as you want, as long as they fall within a relevant trope category, and they are submitted before the official deadline (February 25th, 2026).
Where do I submit my finished product?
This year, we are requiring all fics will be submitted to our anonymous AO3 collection. Your fic will remain hidden until it’s posting day, and we will reveal it then! Fics will be linked to Tumblr when they are revealed!
Can I post my finished product anywhere else?
Of course, but please refrain from posting anywhere other than our anonymous Ao3 Collection until after it's been revealed!

Waking to the soft glow of the morning light, Hermione’s thoughts are filled with nothing but one quiet, undeniable certainty. Her sweetest dream is finally a reality.Â
We’re married.Â
Everything blurs into focus along with the sensation of Ron’s arm that’s wrapped loosely around her waist, her body flush against his. Bare skin meets bare skin. Hermione nestles her head against his chest, observing the rhythmic rise and fall as the sound of his light snoring fills the room.Â
How is it possible they ended up here? It’s a question Hermione expects to be asking herself for the rest of her life. That they managed to cross over the line from years of friendship into something much, much more intimate. Sure, they’d been moving towards this moment all along. She’s quite certain by now that everyone else in their lives wanted to shout you’re in love with each other before they managed to sort it out for themselves.Â
A slow, spreading warmth envelops her entire body at the thought. And Hermione can’t stop grinning. She interlaces her hand with Ron’s free one, shifting her gaze to the gold band circling his finger, almost identical to the one branded on hers. A tangible reminder of the vows they’ve exchanged—all they’ve endured, will endure, but with the promise of always.Â
Ron buries his face into Hermione’s neck as he wakes, releasing a sleepy groan before peppering kisses along her collarbone. She lets out a satisfied sigh, soaking in the remnants of what happened the night before, and relishing the way he reaches for her before even fully waking up. It’s not a position she’s in a rush to move from.Â
His voice still thick with sleep, Ron teases out, “Didn’t you get enough of me last night, Granger?”
“It’s Granger-Weasley now. Get it right, dear husband.”
Ron pulls back the slightest bit to give her an amused grin. Then he presses a hand to the curve of her spine to pull her close again and captures her lips in a soft, unhurried kiss. Somewhere in the middle, Hermione’s thoughts drift to the stark realization of the words she just spoke out loud.
Granger-Weasley. Husband.
Her thoughts must have veered too far away from their current activity, prompting Ron to pull back and observe her face.Â
“Oh, I know that look.”
“What look?”
“Hermione…”
“What, Ron?” She can feel herself growing impatient with his questioning, but doesn’t dare move from the warm cocoon of his arms. Ron starts to lazily trace patterns on her arm, creating tiny goosepimples along his trail.Â
He opens and closes his mouth several times, as if debating on what to say next. It seems to be an unspoken agreement between the two of them now that they take the time to choose their words carefully before speaking—a skill they once were unaccustomed to.Â
“I almost hesitate to ask, but I need to,” he finally starts. “We are married now, you know.”
“Really? I hadn’t noticed.”
Ron’s unable to hide his smirk. “So that means you have to talk to me. What are you thinking about?”
She hesitates, searching for the right words. It’s not that Hermione doesn’t believe Ron really wants to hear her thoughts. She’s scared to death of sounding foolish.Â
“It’s stupid, really. Nothing to worry about, Ron.”
“Nothing…” He repeats. Then his eyes shift and widen as if all of the missing pieces of the conversation are clicking into place.
“Nothing has changed,” Ron tries to reassure her, clearly sensing the nerves buzzing under her skin.
“Everything has changed!”
“How so?” He counters. “We were already living together. Sharing expenses. Sharing a bed.” Hermione squeals when he squeezes her side. The motion tugs her even closer to him, and she instinctively wraps one leg around his hip.Â
“Ron! You know what I mean.”
He lowers his head into the crook of her neck and lets out another groan. Hermione isn’t sure if that’s a reaction to her panic or the maddening new position of their bodies.Â
Reaching for Ron’s hand that’s resting against her back, Hermione guides it around to the front of her body to meet her own. With his curiosity piqued, he retracts his head enough to observe their joined hands. Raised slightly in the air between their bodies, Hermione laces and unlaces their fingers, over and over again.Â
There is something so sacred about this moment that makes Hermione want to extract the memory and store it away in a vial so that she can view it again and again. Ron meets her gaze, understanding and unspoken affection shining through.Â
“I’m so, so happy,” Hermione murmurs, pressing her forehead against his. “That’s what I meant to say. Everything has changed, but for the better. We made it here, to this point. After all we’ve been through together, how we almost-”
Hermione swallows down the rest of her words. There’s no need to dive into the what ifs today. They are here right now. Ron must feel the same, as he unlocks his fingers from hers so that he can cup her cheek. His fingertips gently stroke up and down her skin, eyes glazing over her face.Â
“Merlin, Hermione. You had me thinking that maybe you, uh, regretted-”
“No.”Â
Hermione traps Ron’s face with both of her hands so that he has to look at her. He has to see the truth in her eyes. And with Ron’s cheeks squished between Hermione’s hands, his lips curve up in an adorable way that nearly makes her heart burst out of her chest.Â
“Then yeah. I know exactly what you mean.” His smile lingers for a moment before fading, darkening his gaze until it’s thick with desire. “Fuck, I love you.”
Ron barely finishes speaking before crashing his lips against hers. Hermione is ready for him, meeting his kiss with just as much fervor. She rolls to her back, Ron hovering above her as his knee finds a home in between her legs.
Oh.
This part—this part is so good. Despite their previous tendency to fall into the trap of arguments and miscommunication, they’ve never had trouble connecting in this way. When they love, they love hard. Only now their rows turn into something else entirely, ending in a tangle of limbs and sheets.Â
No one, absolutely no one, has the capacity to drive her wildly mad like Ron Weasley does.
Hermione’s eyes flutter closed as she lets him sink into her, letting it all sink in. There is something so sacred about this moment. No rush, no urgency, it’s just them.Â
After all they’ve endured, will endure, and with the promise of always.

His hands were trembling, ever since stepping away from the casket. It was possible that his hands were that way even before he set his eyes on that wretched ominous block of mahogany wood. Hermione hadn’t left his side and she squeezed his hand gently while she rubbed his back with her other hand. If it wasn’t for Hermione he was sure that he would’ve fallen down from both pain and exhaustion.Â
“Hermione–thank you for being here with me–”
“There isn’t a single place in the world where I would be other than by your side, Ron.” She kissed his cheek gently, her lips bringing colour to his face. He wanted to tell her how much she means to him but the words were stuck in his throat. “Don’t have to say anything,” Hermione said, as she brought up her hand to caress his face. “I wish there’s something I can do to take the pain away.”
If only she knew how badly he wanted to speak, but his words failed him.Â
Numbness.
That was the only word in his vocabulary that can describe the way he feels at the moment. Numb to the pain in his heart that wouldn’t go away. No matter how many years pass by, it would still be there, as if taunting him to say that no matter what he does, he will never achieve genuine happiness. Feeling numb to the world around him. Never to be the same again. How could he be the same when his mum was in an internal sleep, never to wake up and scold him for tracking in mud from the outside after hours of de-gnoming the garden. He would no longer feel the joys of baking with her in the kitchen, or nicking a few freshly made raspberry scones.Â
Nothing would be the same again; death had a tendency to completely set your life off balance. It takes away the colour from your world and makes you only see darkness in the horizon instead of the sunsetting.
He wasn’t aware of how slowly he was walking until he felt a firm hand tap him gently on his back, the words the person was saying floated around him as if there was a shield charm preventing the words from entering his ears. Shaking his head as he felt his eyes fill again with tears, he tried to focus on who was talking to him. Yet, it’s proving tough, the voice was raspy and deep. It wasn’t Ginny. Could it be Percy? He was beside him all through the service. Regardless of who was trying to get his attention, it was futile.Â
 It was useless, everything was meaningless. How can he continue living in this world when his mum is no longer alive? It should’ve been him in that casket, it wasn’t like anyone would remember him, let alone care about his absence. If there was a way to go back and time–
“Ron, dad asked if you wanted to go up and talk,” a voice called him out from the darkness that was trying to drag him into a complete abyss of misery. He looked around and was momentarily confused as to how he was now seated with Percy’s hand on his shoulder. His eyes were blood red, and it seemed like his brother’s freckled face was permanently stained with tears.Â
He felt eyes on him and even though they were all outside for the service, he felt suffocated as if any minute the sky would come crashing down on him or the earth beneath his shoes would swallow him whole.
“I-I..,” he stammered, his throat gone dry. He shook his head at his brother and yet no words managed to slip out from his mouth. It felt worse than when he had to wear the blasted locket around his neck, those cold days and nights wearing the chain around his neck like he was the locket’s prisoner. The profound sense of dread day in and day out was absolutely nothing compared to how he was feeling right now. “Perce..I can’t..please don’t make me,” he whimpered.
“It’s alright, Ron.” Percy nodded and looked back towards their father. He didn’t leave their mother’s side at all since the start of the service. “Don’t worry…I understand.”Â
He fucking hated this feeling, he wasn’t strong and there was no way in hell he could go in front of everyone and share memories about his mum before they closed the casket and buried her six feet under. In the pitch black darkness, the cold dirt would hide her from the world.
“Ron, love.” Hermione called to him, “you’re squeezing my hand too tight.” He felt her try to shake off his hand from the death grip. He didn’t realize he was holding onto her so tightly and he could only shake his head as an apology.Â
His mum shouldn’t have to live–rest - in darkness for all eternity because she was always the beacon of light in his family. From the way mum talked to the way she dressed, always so much colour. Especially when she would wear her orange knitted jumper while…wait…his mum didn’t wear orange, or did she?
No.
That wasn’t the colour that his mum wore, Ron thought .Come to think of it she didn’t really have a Weasley jumper of her own. The twins both had blue, Harry had an emerald jumper, and he always had maroon. How was it possible that the one person who always took care of others, and knitted woolly jumpers had never had the chance to make one for herself” It’s not possible.
“What’s mum’s favourite colour, Percy?” He asked suddenly, not at all bothered at the way his voice sounded so hoarse, as if he hadn’t spoken for days.Â
“What?” Percy pushed up his glasses, “It’s red, why do you need-
That’s all Ron needed to hear.with one last glance towards his mother, he pushed himself up from the chair and sprinted towards the Burrow. Ignoring the way his brothers and Hermione were calling out to him. A few times he almost tripped over his robes but he managed to steady himself. He didn’t have much time before the burial began and his mum would be hidden away from the world without her very own Weasley jumper. No, that wouldn’t happen, not on his bloody watch.Â
He was getting closer to his home, and soon enough he managed to push open the back door with such force it almost fell off its hinges. The pots and pans rattled from where they hung on the wall, it didn’t bother him in the slightest. Making his way around the kitchen island, Ron headed towards the living room. Not sure if this is a good transition from leaving the kitchen and entering the other room, let me know if something can be placed here to make it flow nicely.
Where was it?
He looked around the room for the brown basket of yarn that was always by the sofa nearest to the mantle. It wasn’t there. Instead, Crookshanks curled up in a fuzzy ball, most likely sound asleep, without a care in the world. He walked around to the other sofa, throwing the pillows off to check if some balls of yarn were lodged in between the seats. Many times when he stayed over during Sunday roast, he would see Victoire toss the balls of yarn as she giggled at Crookshanks running after it before ending up hissing whenever it got stuck in between the seats..Â
Bloody hell, where is it?
He sniffed, not caring about wiping away the tears on his face. It was no use anyway, he had to think where that basket of yarn was, if only he had a way to summon it–
“Damn it!” Ron shouted in frustration. The chess pieces that were in position on the chessboard jumped at the sudden noise but their indignant expletives did nothing to distract him from his mission. He’s a bloody wizard; he could just accio the stupid basket.Â
Sliding his hand into his robe pocket, he frowned. He didn’t feel the ridges of his wand. Why wasn’t it there? There was not a moment since the end of the war when he didn’t have his wand in his possession. Hell, even George had joked that he was going to end up like Mad-Eye one of these days, never leaving his wand out of sight. And yet, the time he needed it the most he didn’t have it.Â
It’s fine, he thought to himself, he must have dropped it outside. Not a problem, it wasn’t the end of the world if he didn’t have his wand, but it sure as hell would make finding what he was looking for quicker. Letting out a grunt of frustration he continued on his quest to find the wretched yarn basket in the living room. He knocked down every pillow on the sofa, tossed over laundry baskets, checked in between the furniture and on the shelves. Sadly, it wasn’t there, and his patience was wearing thin, as he looked over at the clock by the mantle, trying not to choke at the memory of when the Weasley clock was forever destroyed.

Fred had burst into the living room during a rainy day after a game of Quidditch, he was shaking and completely drenched. His brother hadn’t spoken a word since they had heard the most devastating news possible, that their mother wouldn’t make it through the night. He just marched towards the fireplace, and ripped the clock off the wall with such force he thought he saw chunks of the wall come off. Then as quick as a hex, Fred had smashed the clock onto the ground, as he damned the whole Wizarding World because they couldn’t save their mum from death. Pieces and shards of the ancient clock shot everywhere. Ron had to shield his face,but small pieces managed to slice his cheeks, drawing blood.Â
The heartwrenching shouts that Fred let out, as he fell to his knees, would be something that never leaves his mind nor the way their father had wrapped his shaking arms around Fred. Ron shook, trying to keep his feelings at bay as he picked up his mum’s Weasley spoon which had flown off and had landed near his dirty trainers.Â
It was like life was mocking them.
That night, everyone had slept in his parents room and Ginny had –

Blimey.
Shaking his head, he realized that he was looking in the wrong place that night. Ginny had taken the yarn and knitting needles to their parents’ room. They were the only thing that kept Fred from sane at the moment. Fred had hugged the colourful balls of yarn as if they were a plushie, held them close to his heart while he cried himself to sleep.
Ron looked around the room; it was a mess; it was as if all of the gnomes from the garden had broken into the Burrow to seek revenge for all the times that he had thrown them over the fence on his mother’s orders. The place was trashed, but that was the least of his concerns.Â
Quickly, he made a dash towards the stairs. In his haste,the bottom of his robes caught on a small crack on the bottom step. There was a sound of fabric ripping, jagged and seamless all at once but before he had time to look down he had tripped up the stairs, his knee hitting the hardwood hard. He grunted in pain, and rubbed at his knee and proceeded to go up the steps once more. Thankfully his parents’ bedroom was on the fourth floor, and not at the very top of the house like his.

Once he reached the fourth floor, he noticed that the door to his parents’ room was shut. The door looked nothing out of the ordinary, the same it always did, with a few spots had the wood chipped away. Yet, here he was with a shaky breath as he stared at his mum’s name engraved. He reached a freckled hand forward. Closing his eyes, he used the tip of his middle finger to trace each letter of his mum’s name.
His heart clenched. Why was the world so cruel? Taking away one of the most beautiful and hardworking souls? Why did death have to take her? How can he live in a world where his mum–
“I’ll knit you a sweater mum, I promise,” he gritted out. “Even if that’s the last bloody thing I do,” he croaked. With a deep breath he pushed the door open ever so gently as if it were made of porcelain.
