rory is the only child to a single mother; her father left when she was young and her and her mother have not seen/heard from him since (boy byee)
she is the niece to a big name actor whose family never supported rory and her mom despite them having gone through it ™ . her mother holds a lot of resentment towards rory’s uncle bc of it and that resentment is often channeled towards his career + the entertainment business
rory (unfortunately? ironically?) is fascinated by acting and had been auditioning for local school and community plays through high school on the DL to get her fix, but she does all of this behind her mother’s back (lots of sneaking around, close calls beating her mom home, friends covering for her, etc. think, a cinderella story, raise your voice, any teen hilary duff movie tbh)
they eventually have the talk (”you’re giving up your dream!” “no, mom, i’m giving up your dream”) and rory moves to LA to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts
after getting her BFA, she’s been drifting around SoCal trying to get different acting/production gigs to add to her imdb page (there isn’t a ton on there; she’s been an extra or had small parts in things, but hasn’t gotten her big break yet)
runs a podcast in her free time mostly bc dav and i want to bring this back (name and vibes pending, but we are giving it a refresh)
has two tattoos: two small stars on right side; flowers near her ankle
PERSONALITY
+ conflict avoidance: Having grown up trying to do everything in her power to keep from disappointing or upsetting her mother, she has carried this trait into her daily interpersonal interactions (usually growing quiet at the first signs of trouble in a conversation, ending her side by apologizing or admitting fault regardless of whether or not she was to blame).
+ bordering on naiveté: She is blinded by the goodness she believed her peers to have, a mindset that kept her from seeing the potential harm in her career choice and potential partners
+ hopelessly optimistic: this acting thing has to work out one day or another, right?
