party games were meant to be a good time but jia found them even more fun when a little bit of competition was involved. something about going up against another when they were at their prime brought out the best in her. the friendly game of twister had quickly found itself some fierce competition despite the cocktail atmosphere. designer bags placed to the side, stilettos stepped off to the side, jia stood at the edge of the board for the semi-final round with a soft throw blanket wrapped around her waist to prevent any upskirts as she manuevered the game mat in front of her.
two soft hands came up to gently lift her hair back and let it fall down her back, gently fanning at her flushed pink cheeks. competition could get hot but the bright smile and shine in her eyes showed it was all in good fun. she pointed across the mat towards the other who she considered to be her partner, establishing a mental connection.
The spinner flies around the color wheel, and it goes without saying that dark eyes watch with interest. The scene around them in an uproar; cheering and drinking, everything in the room sensationalised after having a few cocktails herself. Eyes close to take a deep breath, as to center herself.
'Just what have you gotten yourself into this time, Rosa?' that inner voice of her practically screams, before eyes capture the kind face of the female opposite. Appreciative of the moral support, an affirming nod tilts cranium; long tresses of raven dance across pale features as a hand tucks the strands behind her ear. Nervous hands can't seem to still themselves, so she hides them in her back pocket, her weight shifting to the right in doing so.
Despite not being the most competitive person, there was a yearning deep down. A calling to win in this little game. It would be interesting to see what position they end up in.
The arrow stops, and the first body part and color are about to be announced. A soothing breath inhaled as dark eyes sweep across the room. Soon, the person she arrived with brings her a drink for a bit of extra courage. Bottoms up, and a long swig is taken, ready for whatever is to come.

The morning sun's rays filtered through their half-closed blinds, filling the room up with light. It illuminated their bared skin, Rosa sleeping in Jett's arms. He'd never been a peaceful sleeper, but the wine they'd had before bed played a part in his docile night's sleep. He lay still for some time as the sun gradually began to rise, the light falling across his eyes in a beam through the slit of the blinds.
They opened, squinted against the brightly offensive light. It momentarily disoriented him, leaving green spots blooming through his vision even after multiple blinks. He rubbed his eyes with the hand that had been resting on Rosa's slim hips, and then promptly put it back. Unable to keep his eyes open, he instead opted to press his lips against the spot behind her ear, drawing her tighter to him by her waist.
She stirred then, at the change in closeness.
The demigod could stay there with her, in that moment, for hours. The world could go on without them, the sun could rise and fall. So long as he had her in his sight, everything else could simply lapse by. Years, months, it didn't matter. What mattered was the rings on their fingers, a constant and new reminder of their recent vows.
I'm married.
No matter how many times he reflected over it, it still hit him like a truck. He'd been able to find happiness after all. He'd been able to fulfil an impossible promise. He remembered his mother, as she lay in a room she would never leave alive. So much had changed since then. So many nights he wept bitterly, alone, in the dark. So many nights he never believed that a life without her would ever bear him happiness.
"I want you to know what it's like to be happy... Jett. I want you to be loved... Find a partner, find your own way, if... I could live long enough to see it," She'd smiled then, her eyes closed, her lips chapped. The IV drip of morphine had her thoughts strung out and far-apart. She hardly sounded like she was still in her body.
"Don't talk like that, Jesus Christ," He'd held onto her hand, alarmed; clutched it tighter as if he might lose her right then and there. "You're gonna see me do all those things, ma. This isn't going to beat you."
He frowned against Rosa's skin, holding her tighter, closer, breathing her in. Eventually the memory dissipated, his eyes prickling hot with tears. He hoped at once maybe in some universe, somewhere, some way, his mother heard him when he told her all the things she was missing. Try as he may to suppress it, he sniffled.
"My Jett..." Rosa woke, alerted by the sound, and she turned to place a hand upon his cheek. Their eyes met, her bleary ones to his misty gaze. "What's wrong?"
"I'm fine," he mumbled, reaching up to wipe his eyes dismissively. She frowned, her other hand on his chest. He gave in to her then, with a sigh. This tender moment was something only she truly saw. Turning his face into her palm, comforted by her touch, he kissed her skin. His hair obscured his face, soft locks like raven wings.
"What are you thinking of?"
"I wish she could have seen it," he admitted, his voice low. "That's all."
She held him tighter, wordlessly. His hands traced her hips, hers in his hair. The sun rose, and then it fell. Like it always did, replaced by the moon and its vast expanse of stars.
