“Oh... It’s alright.” It wasn’t alright. Anita was sopping wet from the rain and her feet were killing her. Her eyes are narrowed and if someone looked really close, they could see smoke coming out of her ears. “Next time I need a ride to work I’ll just call literally anyone else.” OK, she was a bit pissed off.

College wasn’t Anita’s thing. It felt just like high school; a waste of time for a degree she technically didn’t need. The only reason she was there was to strengthen relations between Skoperta and Japan. It was rather annoying. Especially considering she didn’t speak the language too well.

She circled the campus at least 5 times before she gave up and tapped someone’s shoulder.

“Umm, hello?” Anita spoke slowly in broken Japanese. “I, umm, I need help to get to the cafeteria. Do you speak English?”

Anita looked at the desk of duel monsters cards she was gifted. As a representative of her planet of Skoperta, she was one of the first people to get access to this new game from Earth.

It was such a shame that she didn’t give a shit.

She smiled for the television cameras and posed for a few action shots that were going to trend on social media (according to the KaibaCorp employee). She even pretended to be interested when some ambassadors taught her how to play. The game was too complicated and, frankly, had ugly art. Who would want to play this? But she nodded and smiled like she always did.

She patiently waited until the KaibaCorp employees went back on their spaceship and flew out of the stratosphere before she took her cards and threw them in the compost bin.

Anita groaned as she walked through the streets of Brooklyn. ‘Go out and interview someone’ was all that was on the assignment her teacher gave her. Yes, interview a random stranger in New York City.

She hoped to God that whoever she picked wasn’t a weirdo. She gently tapped on someone’s shoulder and took a deep breath.

“Hi, my name’s Anita and I was wondering if you have some free time for an interview over lunch? My treat, of course.” The lunch part wasn’t included with the assignment, but Anita just wanted to get her hands on a milkshake to freeze her brain enough for her to forget how awkward this was.
