I’m going to be fusing with the main today while I put off some homework, so come by with questions and apps while I’m around!

Living their entire life underwater; Artemis was the child of King Kalliste and Queen Mirana. As the heir to the largest royal family in the Atlantic Ocean, they resided in Atlantis — never to partake in the cruelties of those who resided on land.

At the age of fifteen, their brother, Sebastian came to the royal palace. He demanded that the throne be passed to him upon their father’s death. Kalliste refused, the role was always passed to the eldest female, or, at least non-male. Sebastian swore he would claim the throne, leaving the North Atlantic Ocean, and hence, his father’s domain. Rallying forces from the South, Sebastian eventually gained favour from the Southern Atlantic king. With promises of domain and riches, they declared war on the north. The first battles were fought in the Argentine Basin, Queen Mirana, being a merwitch, joined the fight — to protect their forces. After the Battle of White Tide, she was never heard from again. Fearing for their safety, their father sent them to live with their grandparents on their mother’s side. Upon their arrival, their grandparents — a mermaid named Athena and a witch named Gabriel — sent them to a human high school, fascinated, they quickly made friends; it was not to last. Two years in, a man came to their school claiming to be their father. It was a supporter of Sebastian. She denied having any knowledge of this stranger, but it was too late. The messenger, who they now knew was a Siren. Took them to an abandoned area, far away from Florida and their family. They pleaded with him to just take them to their brother, and that he could have the throne. The messenger declined, saying it was ’too late’. He said that he didn’t have to kill them, if they just joined forces with their brother, he would let them live. They ran. They came upon a farm house and banged on the door, begging for entry. A human woman answered. She took them to Randolph County PD, where they learned they were in Atlanta. They were returned to their grandparents, a sobbing, bloody mess. Around two months later, they sat her down in their living room. They explained they couldn’t properly protect her, but they knew where could. They handed them a brochure. It had ‘Rose Gardens’ written on it in a fancy golden ink. Artemis agreed, and was moved and given a new name and identity within three months. They now reside in The Rose Gardens, New York. They are now known as ‘Marina Song’, just a normal human from Florida — who wakes up at night screaming, always carries mace with them, and just so happens to be ‘afraid’ of swimming.

Artemis is very kind, they can’t walk past a homeless person without giving them some money from their purse, even if they don’t have enough themselves. They are naïve and very quick to trust — this isn’t always a good thing, considering their background. They’re highly intelligent and fascinated by other species, particularly humans, as they had never seen anything other than mermaids before leaving home. On the downside, they are very oblivious of anything on land — they’re a bit clumsy with the lower half of their body, not used to having two appendages to control as opposed to one. They are quite blunt, often saying things that could be taken as offensive even without realizing so. They can also be very dismissive of things they don’t deem as important, even if it is important to others.

Keeping your scales neat and orderly can be time consuming...

 The days of dragons slaying knights and kidnapped princesses may have passed, but not every dragon was hunted down. A few survived, and went into hiding, letting years pass as the supernatural world faded from humans memories. While some creatures are slowly becoming more and more open, dragons have remained a shrinking group. Ciara born in old eastern Europe, left with a father who didn’t really pay attention to his child, beyond teaching them how to use their natural talents to rack up material wealth as fast as possible. Beyond that, the young dragon kit was left to their own devices, wandering around the manor house, the only restriction being that they couldn’t go into the human areas around them. The world changed around them, and Ciara quickly grew tired of the sheltered life their father believed was best, and eventually, once they could pass as old enough, left. They traveled the world for decades, slowly adding new identities and more wealth to their hoard.

Upon coming to America, Ciara quickly fell in love with the growing urban areas around the country, spending a few years in each before moving around again. They had spent some time in Rose Gardens previously, having known Rose Selene when the Rose Gardens were new,  before it was time for them to move on. Eventually, they decided to return to the supernatural community of New York, and has moved back to the Gardens, pleasantly surprised to find it was still under the ownership of the Selenes.

 Ciara cares for very few things that aren’t pretty, shiny, and hoardable. They spend an inordinate amount of time going over what they’ve already collected, sorting through whats valuable and whats not, secreting the best things (in their opinion) away in their hoard, and selling the rest to gain even more wealth. They tend to be extremely judgmental, more interested in how valuable someone can be to them than anything else. Usually cold and sarcastic up front, they also have a tendency to collect people like the objects they hoard as well. Once someone is part of their hoard, Ciara can go full mom on them, the old instinct to ensure that every piece of their hoard is in perfect condition extended even to the living members

Feeding off the sexual energy of others can be tiring…

Kali is, even for supernatural creatures, exceedingly rare. Creatures that can influence others have never been liked through out history, succubi and inccubi even less so. Kali is one of a rare and dying out species, something that their parent’s drilled into them since Kali could talk. Raised in London, Kali was kept separate from the mundane population, their parents instead sequestering them in the supernatural community, growing up with no reason to hide who or what they were. Her mother was a succubus as well, and taught Kali control, as well as how to use the basics of her abilities for the best effects, and instilling a sense of superiority in them. In their early years, Kali found their entertainment in music and arts, though those slowly faded to be replaced with a ever changing string of partners as they aged.

But, as much as she taught Kali that mundanes weren’t needed, the isolation and constant supervision by their mother grated on Kali, and by the time they were an adult, they had had enough. They left home to move in with one of their then boyfriends, a surprisingly pliable vampire who was half charmed into staying in the relationship. Once they were able to explore the world around them, Kali rapidly fell in love with the fast moving nightlife of the mundane world. They dove into the world around them easily, and their early love of music morphed into one of DJing, and they quickly made a name for themself. But eventually, they became bored again, and moved to America, officially to help open a new nightclub for the same management, but it’s widely known that it came more from one of Kali’s impulse decisions.

Kali is, almost always, a fairly even mixture of impulsive and manipulative. The lessons of their childhood, though they don’t cling to them, have still set their roots, and Kali usually, often unintentionally, finds her supernatural companions of greater importance than their mundane. Their natural powers lend themselves easily to controlling the people around them, and Kali has never bothered to feel remorse for the way she lives. For her, the world is divided into two sets of people - those important to them, and the rest of humanity. Kali would willing destroy the world for those she finds important, but that number is very small. When you can accidentally make people around you obey with one slip up, it becomes hard to trust why people want to be around you, and so Kali copes by embracing the manipulative powers of her kind, using the very things that pull people in to push them away.

Fighting the urge to run naked under the moon is the worst…

Lucas Cantrell always considered himself to be very lucky. The son of two affluent business owners living in the heart of the city, he spent much of his time growing up learning the art of the schmooze, his charismatic nature honed by frequent public appearances and events alongside his parents. However, there was just one issue. It was getting harder and harder for his parents to explain just why it was they vanished from the public eye at certain points every month. And just why it was those points in time always seemed to coincide with the full moon.

Neither Mr. or Mrs. Cantrell liked the term “werewolf.” They always referred to it as “a furry little problem” or “the monthly incident” or something along those lines. Lucas didn’t care. He actually almost liked the term. Maybe that was simply because this was the only way he’d ever known his life to be. Sure, going feral wasn’t the most enjoyable experience but the power of a wolf’s body, the senses able to pick up the slightest change in a person (one of his father’s “business secrets” that always allows him to win over even the most stubborn of associates), and the feeling of grass and dirt under his paws as he runs through the forest are among some of his favorite parts of this “furry little problem” of his. And having been a were all his life, he really didn’t know any other way. Which led to a… strained connection with his parents in recent years.

Ever since he turned 18, Lucas had begun to felt confined, stuffed up in his life as an obedient son. He was beginning to feel more drawn away from the city and towards the forest, the trees and foliage granting more solace to his character than the cold, harsh angles of a life in the city. He still enjoyed venturing into the streets and exploring, yes, but to him it was never going to truly feel like home. It wasn’t long after this wanderlust developed that he found his way to the Rose Gardens, and he hasn’t looked back since.

For as long as he can remember, Lucas has heard himself be compared to a friendly puppy. While he enjoys the fact that very few know just how accurate a comparison that is, the friendly face he presents to others has always given way a more lonely individual than most may expect. The fear of losing control and attacking anyone nearby made him reluctant to get too close to anyone. He always was surrounded by a lot of acquaintances but never had anyone he could really consider a close friend, and he’s left behind more people than he really wants to admit. In coming to the Rose Gardens he’s hoping he might finally be able to allow himself to develop real relationships with other people outside of business partners of his parents and other “beneficial connections.” He’s hoping that finally he’ll be able to find someone he can actually call a real friend.

Name: Laurel O’Hara

Age: 121

Species: Vampire

Occupation: History Professor at Adelphi University

CONNECTIONS:

Watson Family: Allison Watson was a distant relative of Laurel, and when she disappeared Laurel decided it was time to meet her family. She is the neighbor that shows up with sugar and pie, she offers advice and tries her hardest to be their friend. None of the Watsons know of Laurel’s distant relations and shes going to keep it that way for as long as she can.

Oskar Cojocaru: Oskar and Laurel have a unique relationship. She fences his stolen goods, she tells him if they’re antiques or not, and she keeps his secrets. In return, he looks the other way when it comes to her nighttime activities. Laurel isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, after all it’s how she survived 121 years of living – and that’s what Laurel calls it – living. Laurel is the head of a unique operations group. Organized crime, is what it really is, but she only employs other Supernaturals and despises the Mundanes. Oskar just happens to be on her on payroll – even if he doesn’t think he is.

Milagro Heleemi: Milagro is Laurel’s right hand women. What Laurel doesn’t have time for, Milagro handles. Even if Laurel does get her hands dirty, what type of boss would she be if she did it all the time? That’s what Milagro is for and Milagro does it very well.

Name: Harper Lynman

Age: 28

Occupation: Journalist

Species: Human

CONNECTIONS:

Oskar Cojocaru: One of his informants tipped Harper off about the detective.  He’s part of the reason why Harper moved to the Rose Gardens in the first place. He’s suspicious of nearly everyone in the building,  but none more so than Oskar. Harper’s writing a piece about the inhabitants of the building, but he just needs some concrete evidence and he’s convinced Oskar will get it for him. Harper has no real idea that Oskar is the Selene Pack ALPHA.

Cathy Brunsen: Cathy and Harper seem to have similar personalities, they’re both wary of the residents, they’re both incredibly nosy and when these two get together all bet’s are off. Harper knows that Cathy knows something about the residents but she’s as tight-lipped as he is uptight.

Kenneth Watson: Harper and Kenneth used to work together at the New York Times. Now that Kenneth is a newscaster, they hardly see each other. Kenneth tries to keep Harper at an arms length since he’s been investigating the supernatural, but Kenneth’s been ordered by the ALPHA to keep him closer. Kenneth wants nothing more than to kill Harper and be done with it, but is playing nice at Oskar’s orders.

CONNECTIONS:

Kenneth Watson: Kenneth is a good father. He is, but at times can be a bit overbearing and controlling. Kimora just wants to be young and free. She sneaks out to the city with her friends, club hops and often gets into trouble she shouldn’t and constantly fights with her father.

Mateo Moreno: Mateo and Kimora are close friends who often play pranks on the other residents during the day; their goofy image helps  throw suspicion off of them. Together, they often sneak away to vandalize private property and stage animal rights protests, something Kimora’s father strongly disproves of.

Laurel O’Hara: Laurel is distantly related to Kimora’s mother.  When Allison Watson disappeared,  Laurel thought it was time to step in.  She’s been their friendly neighbor and shoulder to cry on ever since.  Kenneth and Kimora have no idea that Laurel is related to them and she’s going to do her best that they never find out.

Name: Mateo Moreno

Age: 22

Occupation: Disk Jockey

Species: Earth Fae

CONNECTIONS:

Oskar Cojocaru: Oskar knows that Mateo is up to something illegal, he just doesn’t know what it is yet. The moment Mateo moved into the building he set all of Oskar’s senses on fire. If Oskar found out that Mateo spent his nights breaking into animal testing facilities, and destroying factories that contribute to pollution, he would arrest the boy in a heartbeat.

Holly Selene: Mateo and Holly are best friends, and have been since he came to the complex. He is overprotective of the girl and often treats her like the sister he never had. He is incredibly wary of the constant string of men going in and out of her life.

Kimora Watson: Kimora is incredibly chill and laid back but when the younger girl gets around Mateo, pranks will always ensue. These two together are the buildings most dynamic duo and often the bane of her father’s existence. Kenneth Watson strongly disproves of their relationship however innocent it may be.

Trading your voice to a sea witch is a challenge…

Crown Prince Arnav “Arnie” Sarin was born into the lap of luxury. His father, King of the Pacific ocean, was a kind and generous man who spoiled his only child relentlessly. His mother, the Queen, passed in child-birth, and good King Leol refused to remarry. Arnie was a curious boy who wanted to understand everything around him but often was limited to the palace grounds.  Growing up Arnie wanted for nothing, and often felt an immense amount of pressure under the weight of the knowledge that he would be King no matter what. There was no spare heir, and King Leol never let a day go by without telling his son his expectations for him. Eventually, Arnie was simply resigned to the fact that he would never get to explore the seven seas freely, meet other creatures or even experience city life above the water.  Whilst Arnie had a fierce love for his people and their culture, he had wanted a life for himself that he knew he could never have. He spent many hours of his day learning various languages, learning the customs of other species and cultures and learning the proper etiquette for being King.

It was during one of these lessons weeks before his 18th birthday that his uncle Prince Oer executed his coup d’etat. Arnie had been oblivious to the growing tensions within his own kingdom and was completely taken aback by surprise at the violent coup. His Father had been ousted from the throne and thrown into prison with a life sentence and Prince Oer desperately wanted Arnie in prison  or worse – dead. His father’s advisors had enough time to send Arnie away with  money, jewels and priceless artifacts that would allow him freedom amongst the humans.

Since his arrival on land he’s had to adapt by himself, learning about a culture from books and actually interacting with it are two completely different things, and Arnie had to learn this the hard way. He’s had many stumbles, and sometimes things the Humans do still confuse him but he tries his hardest to fit in and not give away the fact that he’s royalty – easier said than done as he is very obvious at times. Arnie finds himself more comfortable around those of his own kind and is wary of Vampires in particular.

The root of many of his problems is that he can be brash and impulsive despite his naturally quiet disposition. Independent and artistic, Arnie often likes to be left to his own devices but can crave affection and conversation as much as he craves solitude. He is  kind to those he loves, and a bit cold to those he doesn’t and has this ingrained desperate wanting to please those in positions of power – a side effect from his father’s loving yet strict nature. There’s nothing Arnie wants more is to go home – to take back his throne and rule over his people. The loss of his home is something that hurts deeply but now that he is finally away from his kingdom and experiencing the world around him, he’s afraid he’s growing more comfortable living with  the residents at the Gardens.

Eddie Jacobs was born as Layton Cass, in a small farming town in the middle of nowhere, in the center of the midwest. His parents were both werewolves, as was most of the town. He grew up on the outskirts of town, his parents running a small restaurant, while he was allowed to grow up roaming the world around him, exploring the woods and fields with the others his age. When he was ten however, his parents had a nasty divorce, and his father moved to a new pack, on the west coast, and took Layton with him. Once they moved, Layton was lonely and confused, the open fields and dark forests replaced by crowded streets and tall buildings. He found solace in a nearby bookstore, spending most of his days between the cramped shelves, finding something new to read nearly every day. As he grew up, his relationship with his father, never the best, only grew worse, and things came to a head when his mother passed away when he was sixteen. His dad refused to let him go to the funeral, claiming that travel was too expensive. The two of them got in their worst fight yet, resulting in Layton storming out, swearing he wouldn’t be back.

And he wasn’t. He got a job in the bookstore he had practically lived in for the past six years, took up odd jobs on the side, changed his name to Eddie Jacobs, and, when he was twenty three, packed his bags and moved to upper new york, where he had heard about a place where supernatural creatures lived together and openly, much like the town of his childhood. Once he arrived, he found a failing bookstore that the owner was happy to sell, and took it over. It took a while, but the bookstore is now thriving, with a main area for humans and human books, and a second floor available only to supernatural creatures, or those that know about them. He no longer speaks to anyone from his past, and is looking forwards to the future.

Eddie comes off as standoffish and aloof when people first approach him, head normally buried in a book, ignoring the world around him in favor of whatever novel he’s found at the moment. If you manage to get past that level however, and keep his interest for long enough for him to put down his book, Eddie is sharp witted and talkative, always ready to talk about whatever topic might take his fancy, and usually willing to just hang out and spend time with his friends, though he can be sarcastic and sharp when in the wrong mood.

Blowing away the competition can be hard ...

Name: Milagro Heleemi

Age: 31

Species: Air Fae

Occupation: Registered Nurse

CONNECTIONS:

Laurel O’Hara: Milagro is Laurel’s right hand woman and Milagro does whatever she is told. With ambitions of her own to take over the business one day,  Milagro plays it pretty close to the chest and fills the role of dutiful second very well. Sshe handles most of the dirty work and her connections help secure important contacts. She cares for Laurel but sees her as incompetent and weak but taking down one of the most beloved Vampires in the city would be hard for anyone so Milagro’s biding her time until she can take what’s hers.

Harper Lynman: Milagro  made it her business to take down the little journalist. He annoys her and she considers him a threat to all supernatural creatures and does not understand why those in charge allow him to live. Milagro’s waiting for the right moment to strike but until then she keeps a close eye on him just in case he gets his nose in business that doesn’t involve him. After all, curiosity did kill the cat.

Arnie Sarin: Milagro found out his secret fairly quickly and instead of turning him in and collecting the reward money she started to blackmail him. The little prince was reluctant at first but upon realizing how dire the situation was agreed to do what she asked. Milagro has him run a few errands, make a few collections and  use that pretty smile of his to get what she needs every once in a while. She enjoys using the boy and is still unsure whether or not she’ll call the King to pick him up.

Trading your voice to a sea witch can be a problem...

Alistair was born into a large and wealthy family, with his father being a successful business man doing - well, Alistair never quite knew what his father did, but he knew that it earned him a lot of money and it meant he had a lot of important connections. The blond was everything his parents wanted him to be; musical, athletic, intelligent, yet he found himself terrible at cooking and cleaning and other household chores that his father had deemed ‘useless for a strapping young lad like himself’. He worked hard to achieve everything his father expected of him, but his mother was always much sweeter and gentler with him, encouraging him to understand that she loved him no matter what he did or did not achieve.

His father wanted him to follow in his footsteps, to become a business man doing god-knows-what like him, but with the gentle encouragement of his mother, Alistair staked his real dream of doing medicine and becoming a paediatrician, and his father couldn’t exactly refuse his son his dreams, especially when they still promised financial security and prestige. And so, Alistair applied for med school and is very happy in his chosen path of study. However, due to his - ahem - 'affliction’, he does have worries concerning his future profession.

The day Alistair transformed was when he was sixteen years old and had been taking a secret midnight dip in the ocean with his girlfriend of the time, when he’d heard something impossibly alluring and found himself drawn to it. He ignored his girlfriend’s cries, demanding him to come back to her, to stop swimming off, but he couldn’t help it. He was entranced. He didn’t know how long or how far he swam, but there, bathed in the light of the full moon was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen in his young life. She was singing, or maybe she was talking - whatever it was she was doing, he couldn’t hear anything besides the silken tones of her voice, surrounding him and pulling him closer until he was face-to-face. She opened her mouth, as though ready to devour him, before he felt the light of the moon on his face and heard her whisper the words ’acceptable’.

He was never quite sure what happened after that, but when Alistair awoke the next morning he was certainly shocked to find himself lying in a secluded area of the beach with eight missed calls from his parents, and - well - a tail.

Alistair is very loyal and trusting. He likes to give second chances and third chances and as many chances as somebody needs, unless they hurt somebody he cares about. He is impulsive and usually quite impatient, often blurting out what’s on his mind, but he’s also sickeningly poetic and romantic, spewing all sorts of flowery words and sentiments all the time.

As of right now, the wait time for a secondary character will be at least one week. If you’re already sending one in or working on one this notice is not for you.

We will have an OOC page with pronouns and triggers very soon. If you have not sent your triggers into the main please do so at your earliest convenience.

Our first TASK will be posted very soon as well. Please keep in mind tasks and events are not mandatory but are there to enrich the game and provide a sense of direction and more possibilities for fun.

We’re sorry for the delay when it comes to the skeletons that we’ve been putting out. Both of us had lives that got a little bumpy but hopefully soon we’ll be back on schedule.

Occupation: Front Desk Secretary for the Rose Gardens.

CONNECTIONS:

Kenneth Watson: When you’re some of the eldest residents at the Gardens, you tend to bond over the little things. Cathy sees how hard working the man is, and wishes she could help solve his relationship problems with his daughter. 

Holly Selene: Cathy really doesn’t like Holly but shes a polite professional so she hardly lets it show, she wishes the girl would be more like her other family members, and handle the responsibility of being a Selene with more grace.

Harper Lynman: Cathy is no idiot-- she figured out what the hell was going on at the Gardens within weeks of arriving.
