“No, they can see– they just can’t see you. They’re still in the NICU and only Kelsey and I can go see them. But you’ll be one of the first to know once they can have other visitors– and you look lovely, by the way, the twins would have been speechless.”

Jem listened to the girl speak before quickly pulling him into the apartment. He smiled, “Well, I’m glad I got to be the one to take you to the zoo.” Jem pulled her close and kissed her forehead. “And I’m very very glad that you’re my friend as well.”

“ i really wish you’re my big brother ” she looked up and smiled at him. “ i’ll be really happy if you were ” she embraced him tightly.

“ very mad. why can’t see the twins ? i’m not sick and i even got myself all pretty so when they see me i’ll be pretty. oh--wait, they can’t see yet right? damn it. ”

“ yes, i did. you know before that i never been to a zoo. i asked my brother to take me but he’s always too busy and my mom said zooe is not a place for girls, and dad said---well, i didn’t really ask dad because i know he’ll say no ” she rambled aimlessly. “ i’m glad that you’re my friend. thank you for being there.”
