Trying to save money in the US is impossible to do anymore. For the last 2-3 months, I have been trying to save money for an apartment for me and my partner. Pretty much all of the saving falls on me because he also has bills to pay that cost a bit more than mine and has to help out his dad each month who can't work. I had finally saved up almost half of what we needed just to get into a place, but due to unexpected health issues I have been having over the last month, which has caused me to miss multiple work days, cutting my paychecks down lower than they already were while still having bills of my own to pay, and having to owe money on taxes this year, I had to dig into my savings and I am now back down to $115 which is essentially nothing these days.
I'm tired of trying to sell my art, and being told I should try to monetize my hobbies. It sucks feeling guilty when I just want to make things for myself and the people I care about and thinking "maybe I should put more energy towards making and saving things to start selling at markets" or "could I auction this piece off on ebay?", "I know marketplace and Craigslist didn't work out last time, but should I try again?"
I have a redbubble page, but in the last two years it has been up, I've made a total of $15-$20.
Any request I get for commissions is either a spam bot, or I'm ghosted halfway through the project.
I'm tired. I just want to do the things I enjoy without feeling guilty for not selling the things I make to try to make money on the side, or just feeling guilty for buying the materials at all.
I have considered getting a second job, but I currently can not lift more than 15 pounds until my carotid artery heals, which won't be until sometime in June.
I don't want to be rich, I just want to make enough enough to not constantly worry about how I'm going to pay for everything all the time.
It's my 11 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
I can't believe I've had this account for 11 years. While it's one of my least used accounts, this one is my longest standing social media account.
Sora AI shutting down brings me so much joy! That's one less slop generator in the world. Hopefully, the rest of them will fall as well
If you are requesting commissions, please message me directly. Commission requests in the comments section of posts will be ignored.
This is to avoid scammers and bots.
Thank you
Edit: Must be 18+ to request a commission
I haven't decided if I'm done with this yet or not. It was originally going to be a planet with rings, but I had th we glow brush set too wide, and it reminded me of the sun/moon decor so I just decided to go with it. It reminds me of the early morning sun reflecting on water.
The best picture of the moon I have ever taken. This was taken with my phone camera when I was walking things from my old apartment to storage. I have thought about buying a better camera so I can do more with photography, but I also have many more hobbies that I currently do and want to try in the future.
I snapped on a coworker the other day for showing me an AI generated video. I was already having an extremely shitty work day, and I had already told this person multiple times on different occasions that I despise AI, and I don't want to see it anymore.
The more it happens, the angrier I get. Is anyone else having this issue?
My first cropped crochet sweater!
I've made crochet tops before, but this is my first one with sleeves. The neckline is bigger than I thought, but it works well as an off the shoulder thing
There are so many projects I want to work on currently, but I tend to have some difficulties balancing and rotating between projects.
A plus side to ADHD: Many hobbies
Downside: Too many hobbies
First time drawing a self-portrait I don't completely despise. I decided to finally upgrade to the premium package for Autodesk Sketchbook, so I guess I'll be reteaching myself how to use each brush. I learned I can now switch out the nibs on the glow brushes. I am no longer limited to a single row of textures!
FUCK ICE
I have been terrible when it comes to posting on here recently, but I have been working on more things.
I made a necklace with a pendant I bought at a farmers market when I was in high school.
The first idea for what I'm doing with this choker I'm making
Crochet soda tab bracelet that I made on tim tok live the other night.
It's still not done yet. I just don't have the money to get any more of the crochet thread that I need to finish it. It will probably be a while before I do. I'll be streaming on Twitch tonight around 10:00 pm Pacific time, possibly earlier. Might be working on some air dry clay projects, bracelets, or finishing projects that I haven't completed.
