Normalizing pain and disappointment as the only thing a child will see and deserve- especially if they see other parents not doing it to their children- isn’t going to protect them from or immunize them to anything, I promise. Knowing you deserve love is the tool for protection, and you can know what love is and still be very fucking resilient against both. Anyway, remind me to reblog this later with resources for raising resilient children. I know you want to protect your child from the world. I promise you establishing a home base of love that ISN’T as awful as the world around them, that is AGAINST the way anything wants to hurt them, is how to begin.

Next time you read fanfic, remember you’re viewing it for free. You will likely enjoy it more than the book you’ve purchased, yet you won’t rave about it to family and friends because it’s not as accepted as discussing the New York Times best seller everyone else read.

So that author receives your cash and word of mouth but the fanfic writer you follow just sits around and waits for you to like, read quietly, then unlike without a comment, critique etc. And that’s understandable. Fanfic is widely available. But that fanfic writer is waiting, just like the best selling author, to know if you liked it without the option of compensation, a follow up book offer or the adulation.

Be kind. Offer your fanfic writer 30 seconds to squeal or be constructive and fair. It’s worth more than the cash the best selling author receives and I guarantee you, the fanfic writer will be a bigger fan of yours than the best selling author ever could.

So there’s a Japanese slang term, ‘chuunibyou’, that roughly translates to “Middle School 2nd Year Syndrome.” It is used to describe the stupid phases people go through when they are 14, like pretend to be really hardcore, act like they know everything, say they have mystical powers, etc.

How I express my femininity and how you choose to express your femininity can look completely different, and both still be right. There’s not a single template of “do these things to be feminine, don’t do these things” because there are so many different ways to express femininity. We should stop feeling like we need to hide our femininity or be less of women to fit in with the world, we should be able to embrace the things that make us feel like women. But since each woman is different, the things we need to embrace are going to be different to an extent
