Okay, so maybe baking apple turnovers using fresh cooking apples from the garden wasn’t the best way of revising pythagoras.
BUT I’ve found that using holidays for holidays is such a good excuse for not doing revision and scientists have said that you can’t just revise for hours on end without a rest - you’re brain just won’t remember the info!
Another technique for revising though... make notes! I realise not every technique works for everyone and I am about to test this particular one out with my mocks, but I am going abroad for a week and I want to bring just one file of notes rather than lugging round tonnes (quite literally) of exercise and question books.
Yes, making the notes takes time and effort so have fun with coloured highlighters and coloured paper. But DO NOT copy notes out from a school book exactly how you did before in that lesson. Your brain won’t think about what you’re writing down - and my theory is that this is the reason why teachers and parents are often against you writing notes out.
So revision tips of the day...
1) write notes but please don’t copy exactly how your book/ a website lays out the information- make it original!
2) it’s OKAY to relax and take your mind off revision for an hour of two! Don’t beat yourself up if you get distracted by a great TV show one evening.
