How could you NOT fall in love with the glow of the moon and stars, the warmth of the sun, the ancient life within the trees, and the sweet melodies of the winds?
Okay but I love Shuri so much. WHEN SHE SAID, “WHAT ARE THOOOSE” I LITERALLY WHEEZED. And when she said, “Another broken white boy for me to fix” AND WHEN EVERETT ROSS CAME OUT AND SHE SAID, “Don’t scare me like that colonizer!” I WAS DEAD SHES SUCH A SAVAGE.

Here’s a nice infographic on what to dry and store 😊.

I feel very whole in the kitchen. Maybe it’s some sort of cellular, ancestral memory of all the women that came before me, centuries of kneading and braising and simmering woven into my DNA. I feel their hands working in my hands. A muscle memory. I’m making a five-course Christmas Eve dinner for Andrew and I, and these Canadian classics have the coveted spot of the dessert portion of the menu. Butter tarts are an iconic Canadian dish - I’ve read that they originated from the tarte au sucre that ‘Les Filles du Roi’ used to make in 1600s Quebec (then New France). These young French women, recruited by Louis XIV as breeders for the New World, have an incredibly interesting history - I highly recommend having a read through the wiki page! I can’t believe I thought Canadian history was boring in school. (Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a Heritage Minute on the gals…)
Good☀️ Morning✨ Have a wonderful day!
