Nathan didn’t mean to find out, scouts honor.
He didn’t mean to find out but he had gone through GeneCo’s files of patients to see if Rotti had forgotten any other jobs he could do when he saw it…you, unmistakably you.
Nathan paused, pulling it out and looking it over.
He couldn’t believe it. You…were a woman?! He hadn’t even known you’d had gender affirming surgery ever, even through your years and years of friendship of you both being Repo Men together.
Reading through the rest of the file, he had found that you had gotten the surgery a few years back, before you two had even met or gotten hired as a Repo Man. It stated on file that you worked as a Repo Man to work off the debt you had racked up with the surgeries it took.
He sat in his room, file in hand as he went over it for the umpteenth time of the evening, Shilo long gone to bed. Nathan was getting used to the idea of you being who you were. You were still the same person, so what would a few added and subtracted parts change?
Over time, he learned to not care about it. You were thrilled, of course, that he wasn’t mad that you hid something from him but he didn’t care. It was your body and your choice.
It was a dark and gloomy day, as always, but today was a different gloomy day.
Nathan could tell something was wrong with the way you were. The way you avoided your reflection in anything that showed one, the way you seemed like you were acting like you were missing something, as well as you seemed away from your body more than usual.
After you guys collected a GeneCo organ from a man who’d forgotten to pay his debt, he pulled you aside. “What’s wrong, you seem off.”
You stayed silent, not looking at him.
“I know when something’s wrong, you can tell me anything. You know that, right?”
“Right…its just…” You sighed. “I hate my body.”
Nathan was taken aback by the comment. He put down the box that held the organ and looked at you, taking off your helmet and then his. “What do you mean?”
You gestured to your chest. “I didn’t get…this done yet. I don’t feel like myself.”
Nathan pulled you close for a hug. “You’re still the same person, you know. You’re still the man that has been my friend all these years.” He pulled away slightly. “Want me to stay with you tonight, we can watch movies and watch a movie with the mirrors covered?”
Notes: I'm sorry if this sucks, I don’t usually write this stuff and I tried to make it as accurate as possible. Feedback would be great so I can know more tips for writing stuff like this for the future.
