Did you know that you can just write essays? As a form of literature.
I think that some authors would be delighted to know that essays do not have to be the limping 5 paragraphs of bad academic prose that you and your teachers suffered through in school.
The essay is an old and rich literary form. You can express lofty sentiment, profound insight, rousing calls to action (the manifesto is a sub-genre of essay); you can experiment with prose—make it florid and purple or terse and aggressive or wry or whimsical or any style you like. Essays can be beautiful literature and thrilling to read!
I just think that some authors might like to remember this, when they are inexplicably moved to write a poem, but that poem is just the most normal basic prose in the world, expressing a perfectly linear, sequential set of ideas, and then line breaks are shoved into the middle of sentences in an apologetic attempt to add impact or drama, and the whole result makes me bored and annoyed because,
Dear author,
Respected colleague,
I mean it with all goodwill when i tell you,
This could have been an essay.
Linguistic contamination
Citizen comes from Old French citeien. It got its z because it was contaminated by denzein, which meant 'resident' too. Citizen later influenced denzein, turning it in denizen. Words that are etymologically unrelated, such as citizen and denizen, sometimes exert influence on each other. Today's infographic shows this pair and three other examples.

hey (with the intention of you, you, and only you)(you are my good days)(I want to meet you in every place I ever loved)(I will love you until I die, and if there’s a life after that, I’ll love you then)(I love you without end)(not to me, not if it’s you)(I love you on purpose)(I want my eternity to be spent by your side)(I want to be where you are)(it has made me better, loving you)(I want you to start each day knowing that I love you)(let me see you and stay)(I will search for you across heaven)(and there is nothing in the world I wouldn’t do for you)
smile for the photo!
i’ve stopped being mentally ill in the unhappy and always in a crisis way, I am now mentally ill in the mostly stable and happy but there’s clearly something weird going on way
the kind where no one is worried about me anymore but everyone knows there’s something wrong with me
Girl but in a horrible and miserable way
Types of brain fog:
Brain is primordial sludge & you are drowning in it
U are a ghost and nothing is real
Mental equivalent of attempting to stream some high-res video game when all you have is dial-up
The thing you want to articulate is *right there* but you're just scrabbling at it like a cat continually failing to catch the bird on the other side of the window
