Great Travel & Photo Apps
As you probably know I've done my fair share of travelling the past few years Here are my favorite and most useful apps"
Desktop
Knapsack: I recently came across this app, and so far I has been really useful to help me create an itinerary for the trip. If you need to move dates and locations around this app might be for you. It lacks some functionality but overall its worth giving it a shoot. They have a 30 day demo. ($31.99)

The Photographers Ephemeris: The Photographer’s Ephemeris (TPE) helps you plan outdoor photography shoots in natural light, particularly landscape and urban scenes. It’s a map-centric sun and moon calculator: see how the light will fall on the land, day or night, for any location on earth.

iOS:
The Photographers Ephemeris: I love TPE, if you are a photographer that wants to use the sun or the moon in your photos this is an essential tool. The iOS version costs $8.99 which seems expensive given the desktop app is free, but its worth the money.
TripIT: I can't say enough about TripIT, I've been using it for years now and it has been the best travel assistant ever. Basically what it does is allows you to have all your travel information in one place. It also helps you keep track things like where colleagues/friends are, know if you points or miles are about to expire and if you have the PRO account information on price changes and seat availability. The PRO account is $49 a year.

After a week of traveling in Peru I'm almost ready to move on and start heading south. Waking up early to try to avoid the crowds has been good but today I'm tired. Regardless of the 4:30 wake up call they were so many tourist in Machu Picchu today that it was really hard to get good shoots.
Staying in Ollaytaytambo last night was great. I was able to get up early and be the first one in the ruins. By 8:30 or so I had taken some great photos and avoided the swarm of tourist that start arrivin
Where I'm going?
After much thought and research i have finally decided which places I would like to visit during this trip.
I booked my flight!
Being a frequent flyer for the last 5 or 6 years has had its perks, but the most important one thing to me was learning how to book flights and understaging fares and routing options. My original plan was to book a flight from Quito, Ecuador to Lima Peru and then a return flight from Santiago, Chile back to Quito. and all of that was going to cost me around $650 which i thought was ok. So after doing a bit of research and moving dates around I finally booked my flight which was a bit more expensive but it also includes a flight tu Cusco from Lima and also a flight from Santiago to Ushuaia with a stop over in Buenos Aires and a return ticket from Punta Arenas to Quito all an extra $260.
Happy Valentines Day to me!
