Spring [Mishala&Rowan]
He bowed too? What had Mishala walked into? Most guys around here were not this respectful in the slightest. “Thank you,” she said timidly and bit her lip, giggling at his joke before she started down the halls, talking softly so they would hopefully not get caught. “While that’s true, I’m hoping for a different kind of magic,” she stopped momentarily and peered around the corner of a hallway before looking back at him. “I have paint that glows in the dark, I’m going to paint you - and then we’re going to go to the lake.”
Rowan smiled, always pleased to have someone laughing at their jokes. They followed her, making sure to be as quiet as possible as they snuck around. At her words, they arched a eyebrow, grinning excitedly. “That sounds really cool” They said, excited, before tilting their head. “Will you be joining me in the glowing paint, or will I be the only one attracting attention?” they asked, slightly teasing tone to their voice.
Spring [Mishala&Rowan]
Oh did she. She was going to assume that he liked the outdoors and the stars and she’d been dying to try some of the glow in the dark paint that she had picked up during her last visit home. What a perfect time to do it too. Shala did blush though at the pretty girl comment and just looked down with a tiny smile on her face. “Mishala, this is the first time we’ve met, so let’s make it..magical yes?”
Rowan smiled at the blush, giving her the slightest bow. “Mishala” They said slowly, testing the name out. “What a beautiful name” Rowan mused, before giving her a bright smile. “Well, if its magic you’re looking for, you’re in the right place” They joked, motioning to the walls of the school around them, before bouncing in place slightly, excited. “So what are these oh so magical plans you have in store?”
Spring [Mishala&Rowan]
“I don’t care if they like it or not, it’s comfortable and I like it and that’s all that matters.” Going over, they stood in front of them, playfully batting his nose with her fingers as she looked over out into the sky and got a wicked fun idea. “You know, I have an idea,” biting her lip, she reached out for his hand. “Come with me, it’ll be fun, I promise.”
Rowan tilted their head, interest sparking in their eyes as she said she had an idea. “An idea, hmm?” They said, standing up and closing the piano softly, one hand swiping across the lid to make sure it was level, before shrugging as they took the offered hand. “Well, never let it be said I turn down night time fun adventures offered by pretty girls” They teased, before a thought occurred to them. “My names Rowan by the way, I think this is the first time we’ve met”
Spring [Mishala&Rowan]
“Oh! Well thank you!” Mishala beamed and stepped into the room more, taking that as a invitation to do so. “I bought it the last time I went home, I’m glad someone else likes it. Everyone else finds it stupid.” Not that Mishala cared, she liked it and that’s all that mattered. “What’s that from?” She said, pointing to the piano. “Is it something you came up with or?”
Rowan shrugged at her words, extending their hands in a ‘what can you do’ motion. “Well, every action has its critics. Can I ask where you got it? It’s rare to find ones that aren’t your regular basics, you know?” Glancing at the piano, they gave a sheepish laugh, shaking their head. “No, I’m no composer. It’s an old classical song, a couple of them together actually. I like combining the melodies on nights like these” They said, nodding out the window to where the stars were shining brightly, reflecting onto the lakes surface.
Spring [Mishala&Rowan]
Shala was doing her usual wandering through the halls, dancing around in circles because no one else was out and about at this hour. Okay so she’d snuck out of her room in the dead of night almost, but who cared right? Hearing the music in the distance, she followed it, her cow onesie offering padding to her feet as she quietly slipped down the halls until she reached the room it was coming from, her head peering around the corner of the doorway to listen. The hood of the onesie fell in her face and she huffed pushing it back slightly before speaking. “You’re good.”
Rowan broke off at the sound of a voice behind them, not really expecting anyone else to be out at this time of night. It was, technically, after curfew after all. They glanced over automatically, smiling at the newcomers attire. “Well, thank you, you’re very kind” They responded, tilting their head slightly. “I love that onesie by the way, adorable pattern” They were telling the truth, Rowan loved uncommon clothes, and they usually liked the people wearing them. Usually. There had been that one incident with that cosplay girl, but that had been a one time thing, and not really their fault.
Spring [Mishala&Rowan]
Rowan enjoyed the feeling of peace and tranquility that came with their music. It was soothing, the way that each movement brought a new sound, and how even though the song had been set down with each note transcribed, you could still take the same steps and find your own path to the melody. And so they spent the evening playing away, fingers ghosting paths over the keys as they played softly, old melodies they remembered.
Parker laughed, shaking her head a little at them. “Honestly, if you meet the person that replaces food in your heart, i’ll throw them a parade.” She wrinkled her nose a little as she laughed again. “Xavier hasn’t even relaced food in my heart. I mean, he shoved it to the side a little, but…” With a mock shrug of indifference, she gave them a little wink.
Parker thought that their addition to her joke was perfect, so much so that she threw her head back when she laughed, “Rowan, we should consider taking this act on the road. Imagine the sold out crowds and adoring fans.” She gave them a cheeky grin, but when they turned serious, so did she, sighing and shaking her head a little. She knew better, after knowing Rowan as long as she had, than to argue with them about something like this. They wouldn’t take no for an answer, so instead, she just sighed. “Whatever you say, Ro.” Their fake pout was enough to get another smile from her, though, and she rolled her eyes. “Oh, come on, you know you’re still my favorite Hufflepuff, at least.”
“I hope you don’t have your heart set on that parade then Parker” Rowan laughed, grinning brightly. They nodded at her words about Xavier, tossing her another grin. “Perhaps thats what I should look for then, someone who could just nudge food to the side a bit on the list of things I love” They mused, before smiling at her laughter.
“Oh yes, we’ll be world famous then. People will travel for miles to see the terrific duo, Shay and Beau” The seventh year smirked, before crossing their arms. “Nope, uh uh. I know that tone Parker Shay. Thats your “I don’t think you’re right but I don’t want to start a fight” tone.” They declared, shaking their finger in her face. “And I won’t have it. You are amazing and wonderful and beautiful and magnificent, and you deserve people in your life who see exactly how true that is” They said, seriously, before giving a haughty sniff. “As it should be. Who else would be your favorite, Lysander? They’re lame”
Rowan nodded as Parker explained, faking a look of serious consideration as they listened to her. “Good, whatever they say about breakfast, I’ve always thought that it was really dinner that was the most important part of the day.” They declared, flashing another one of their near constant smiles. They took a seat automatically, figuring Parker wouldn’t find it rude. It wasn’t like they tried to avoid talking to each other after all.
At her words, Rowan couldn’t help the giggles that spilled out, laughing in delight at Parkers attempt at innuendo. It did sound a bit corney, but that had never stopped Rowan from laughing at their friends joke. “Sadly, the only date I have is on the calendar” They teased her, before tilting their head, nudging Parkers leg with their foot. “In all seriousness, I am happy for you.” They said, smile fading into something soft and fond. “You’re happier with him than I’ve seen you in a while. It’s good to see you like that again.” They told her, briefly dropping into seriousness before flashing a grin and adding. “And if you ever need any boys taken down a peg or two, you can always come find me you know.”
Parker laughed a little at their expression, wrinkling her nose and shaking her head. “I think all meals are the most important meal of the day. Then again, I just like food.” She shrugged a bit, her smile only growing when they joined her. She loved their company, and honestly, she could use a mood boost.
The fact that she could at east still make Rowan laugh was enough to fill her with pride. She was, after all, the clown of Hogwarts. Or at least Hufflepuff. “Hey, the calendar is a hot date… or a hot collection of dates. Especially if you set it on fire.” She was laughing again until they went serious, and she bit her lip as she nodded. “He’s a really great guy, honestly, I don’t know what he sees in me.” She laughed a little, her eyes going a bit hazy as her mind wandered back to him, but she was brought back at their last statement. “You’ll be the first person I call… Maybe the second. Oscar might be offended if I go to you first.”
Rowan nodded, mock seriousness in their tone. “As you should. Personally, I think whoever I end up will have to be very special to upset the place food holds in my heart” They teased, grinning. It was a well known fact that Rowan could pack away more food than seemed possible, though it all eventually got converted to muscle mass.
They laughed at her joke, brightly smiling at her. “Well, I don’t know, seems awfully rude. Then I’d have to wait an entire year to have a repeat date” They added, though it wasn’t quite as good as Parkers. They beamed at her description of Xavier, though they became serious as she talked about herself. “Don’t be silly Parker, you’re wonderful, and anyone would be lucky to have you. And if he doesn’t see that, then he’s an idiot” They declared. They nodded at her statement about Oscar. “ I suppose I could accept being second to your brother” They allowed, though they gave her a fake pout just to prove a point.
Parker couldn’t help but grin when she realized who had approached. She could be having the worst day ever (and to be honest, she kind of felt that way quite a bit lately), and Rowan could make her smile simply by existing. They were like a ray of sunshine in a dark, stormy night (as cliche as it sounded, Parker believed it 100%), and she loved them to death. It was like having another big sibling, almost opposite of her brother.
She felt her cheeks heat up a little at their teasing, shaking her head a little. “He’s got a remedial potions thing that he does, I think I might be meeting him for dinner.” She hoped she was meeting him for dinner, anyway. She wanted to get in as much time with him before he was finished with school as she could. “How about you, Ro? Hot date with a nice thick… book.” She tried her best to sound cheeky, but honestly, it probably came off more corny.

Delphi immediately shook their head. “No. No, no, no, you’re not interrupting me. I wasn’t- I hope I’m not interrupting you,” they said, the words rushing out of their mouth. Wow, way to be smooth, Delphi, they thought to themself as they struggled to think of something else to say. “That was lovely music, by the way. Please don’t stop on my account.”
Rowan smiled, blushing slightly when Delphi complimented their playing. “No, not at all, I don’t mind” They replied, tracing one hand over the keys lightly. “ I’m glad you think so, it seems like ages since I’ve played seriously” They admitted, before a thought occurred to them and they perked up. “Want to here more? you’re welcome to sit and listen” They offered with a small smile. Delphi was nice, and they liked having someone enjoying their music.
Parker had been in the library for over an hour, fiddling with her tarot cards, turning them over and over and always getting the same results. She’d shuffled through the cards so many times that her eyes were heavy, and as she did it again, she sighed heavily before flipping the first one over. Same result, once again. The second and third fared no better for her, and with a grunt, she shoved the cards away and sat back in her chair a bit.
What does it mean? Surely this can’t be a personal reading. Parker’s eyes darted around the library to confirm that she was, very much, alone for the moment. The cards, seemingly taunting her, stared lifeless up at her. The Fool, the loudest tormentor in her mind, worried her the most. She grabbed it and flipped it over, heaving a soft sigh. Tarot readings were, at best, inconclusive, she knew that. She’d been so fascinated by the study of Divination for long enough to know that things aren’t always what they seem with readings like this. Still, with this supposed war on the horizon, the predictions stood up the hairs on her arms.
When Parker heard footsteps approaching, she quickly grabbed the cards and shuffled them before slipping them into her bag, hoping that whomever was approaching hadn’t noticed. Turning with a warm smile, she greeted her new company. “Hello, pleasant day to be in the library, isn’t it?”
Rowan likes spending time in the library, roaming the shelves and finding new things to read. Their classload was light for their final year, since there were only a few classes needed to go into healing. Most of their class work was charms and potions, and a few independent study classes, leaving large parts of their day open. And so Rowan had entered the library, always eager to find something new to look at. After all, if you were willing to take the time, there were hidden gems on every shelf.
They had pulled a few books that looked interesting out, and were looking for a place to settle in a read, when a voice caught their attention. They grinned as they turned their head, beaming at their housemate. “Parker, hi!” They said excitedly, walking over and setting their books down. “Oh yeah, a great day.” They agreed, smiling. “What brings you here today, I thought you would be with your new beau” they teased, grinning.
Delphinus didn’t play any instruments, but the music room was normally empty so they went there quite a bit to chill out and be away from the noise of the common room and the castle. They didn’t hear the soft music wafting out from the room, so they just walked right in. They didn’t notice that they weren’t alone until they were halfway across the room and finally heard the slow piano melody that the other person was playing. Delphi froze where they were, unsure if they should leave or not. They didn’t really want to because the music was nice, but the other person might want them to leave. So many thoughts flooded through their mind as they just stood in the middle of the room.
Rowan wasn’t the best at recognizing when people were around normally, much less when they were playing music. They didn’t notice their room mate enter, and only looked up at the sound of the door closing. Distracted, their playing slowed to a halt as they looked around, smiling when they noticed their room mate. “Delphi, hello” They greeted, smiling at the other Hufflepuff. “I didn’t noticed you come in. I hope I’m not interrupting you” They said with a grin, turning on the bench to face their classmate.
Finley nodded, though she wasn’t really listening. She was still contemplating the tea, whether she could attempt to drink it. She was weighing the pros and cons, on the one hand, her mother wouldn’t try to poison her in public, would she? On the other hand, she wouldn’t put it past her. Finally, she shrugged and took a sip, wincing a little, as it had already gone cold. Her attention was drawn back to the Hufflepuff, and she gave him what she hoped was a convincing smile. “I’m alright, love, but thanks for the offer.” Without thinking, she gave them a wink, hoping it came off as playful when she realized what she’d done.
Rowan arched an eyebrow as the girl drank, more out of surprise than anything else. After all, it wasn’t every day someone asked you about arsenic before drinking their tea like nothing was wrong. Of course, the arsenic could have been a hypothetical question. Rowan didn’t think anyone would actually try to poison someone in the middle of the three broomsticks after all. They grinned t the girls wink, laughing slightly and shrugging. “Well, consider it an open offer then” They responded easily, unconcerned with the wink

Finley actually jumped a little bit at the sound of their voice and her head jerked around, causing slight discomfort. No where near the level of discomfort that hung between them, though, so maybe that was a plus. Quickly, she put her essay and her book away and stood, feeling that would be more polite than if she continued to sit on the floor like a slob. She’d been raised better than that, after all. “Not particularly.” She replied, hint of a smirk on her face. “Ancient Ruins, they’re ancient for a reason I suppose.” Sighing, she ran her hand through her hair, teeth clamping down over her bottom lip for a minute as she considered them for a minute. She would never quite admit that she was ogling. They were rather more attractive than the people she usually… spent her time with.
Rowan laughed slightly at her words, grinning. “Yes, I guess thats true.” They agreed easily, unconcerned with her looking them over. Rowan could be a bit vain, but really, they knew that they looked good. “I can’t say I know much about them myself however, herbology and potions have always been my best areas” They admitted freely, shrugging. Rowan couldn’t keep the smile off of their face as they ran one hand through their hair, almost resembling a excited golden retriever as they looked at Finley. It took a great deal to repress Rowans near constant optimism, and finding their soulmate certainly wasn’t helping matters.
Finley was left feeling vaguely nauseous as she watched her mother and her new beau leave. The way his hand rested on the small of her back was unsettling. Could they possibly actually care for each other, despite their…. arranged circumstances. Sighing, Finley returned to her cup of tea, swirling it around a bit. It was too crowded to hear the approach of someone else, but the voice startled her enough that she actually looked up to greet the voice, and found what appeared to be a Hufflepuff who was older than her standing by, asking for a seat. Rather than speak, she motioned to a seat, not sure if her voice would betray her current mental state. Being around her mother always made her a little more weary than normal. She looked back down to her teacup, sighing a resigned sigh as she took a sip. “How long do you think it would take for arsenic to start working?” She asked aloud, not really expecting an answer.
Rowan was slightly startled by her question, but answered automatically. “I think it depends on the amount and your metabolism honestly, but over dosing can make things terribly painful” They replied on instinct, before tilting their head, slightly concerned. “And I probably shouldn’t have told you that, but I’m really hoping no one in school actually has arsenic, so.” Rowan continued, words bubbling up instinctively. If there was one thing the hufflepuff could do after all, it was talk someones ear off. But concern seemed to be needed more just then, and so Rowan tilted their head, looking at the girl. “You know, if you want to talk about anything, I have been told I am an excellent listener” They offered.
