Unlike many residents in the neighborhood, Tobias was still roaming around outside in the darkness of San Francisco. The sun had gone down hours ago and most sane persons in the city, this part of the city, were inside and probably sleeping. But, Tobias found himself walking through the streets with a cup of coffee in his hand and trying to stay awake. Tobias didnât have a night time job that required him to stay awake all night.
What he had was occasional insomnia that would affect him on random days, or every other day. On this night, he wasnât being affected, but he was avoiding sleep due to vivid dreams he had the night before. Not wanting to have any repeats, Tobias decided to keep himself awake for as long as he could. He stopped at the park because he assumed the view from the bench would be a perfect place to see the sun rise over the city; watching the sun rise was something that Tobias really loved to do.
Tobias knew it was late and didnât think anyone would still be out. When he heard footsteps near him, Tobias froze and goosebumps spread across his skin. Tobias hoped it wasnât someone whoâd hurt, if it was anyone at all.
âWhoâs there?â He asked while staying still and not daring to move; kind of hoping he wouldnât be seen by anyone who was near.
Rowan jumped back slightly at his reaction, taken aback, âItâs just me - Rowan, hi,â she said tentatively, âYou know you can always catch me out - you know, walk of shame and whatnot.â The truth was, it wasnât truly a walk of shame when she had a wad of cash in her pocket to show for the evening, but she wasnât about to advertise that.Â
