Difference between tea and coffe cups.
Kaffe=coffee
Te=tea
Moonlight Rose tea cups are available in three shapes: Avon, Malvern, Montrose.
Cocoa mug with the Royal Albert Moonlight Rose pattern.
These odd mugs and shapes also exist: Coffee mug:
Montrose shaped cup:
Breakfast teacup:
Regular size cups at the back, and demitasse (espresso) cups in front. They are noticably smaller, even if it doesn't seem quite like it in the picture.
Normal cups are 8-9cm diameter, demitasse are approx 7.5cm (depends on the shape).
One of my most asked questions is “How much can I sell my china for?”.
To that I answer:
As far as I know, there's no main dealer . I buy all my items on eBay. There's probably other auction houses that sells or buy them as well. Either way, the only way to gather a price point for all items is to check the sale history of all the items.
Mint condition or not doesn't usually matter, however. By that I mean that a lot of slightly damaged items or factory seconds get sold for the same price as pristine condition items. Most of the time, in my experience, at least.
So my recommendation is to search for your items on ebay and see what others are selling them for.
Some of my collection (not for sale)
If anyone wants to contact me, do it via email
Please see the menu in the lower left corner for all different pages on this website!
I live in Sweden and can probably not give you local advice in your country, but I buy internationally regularly and can probably give you general advice no matter where you live.
I am NOT selling my collection right now.
I am in the market TO buy certain pieces. See my wish list here.
Hi, You talk about 'tea cups' in some places on your page and then you talk about 'coffee cups' elsewhere. Is there a physical difference between the two? Then I have a request: Would you please give all measurements of the Avon tea cup and the avon demi-tasse cup? (diameters of the cups and heights of cups) I am brand new at this and have 2 cups and saucers whose dimensions don' fit those on other sites. Denise
Sorry for the late reply. I unfortunately have my whole set in storage right now and can’t access it. I can only measure the normal Avon cup and not the demi-tasse as I only brought my normal Avon cup with me to where I live now. Sorry. Let me know if you still want that measurement.
But there’s definitely a real noticeable difference between the demi-tasse and the tea cup.
There is a dinner plate for Royal Albert Moonlight Rose with the 1987 backstamp but no R for registered trademark near the Moonlight Rose word. Is this still authentic?
Sorry for the late reply. There’s definitely plenty of backstamps that don’t have the registered trademark one. I’m not sure exactly when the dinner plates were introduced though but it’s absolutely possible that it’s authentic.
Is moonlight blue the same as moonlight rose or are they two different sets
Did I write Moonlight Blue somewhere? The pattern this blog is focused on is called Moonlight Rose and nothing else.
Sorry for the late reply.
How are you I need some moonlight rose piecies my daughter had hers stolen can you help please
I’m so sorry to hear that! Unfortunately the only thing you can do is to try to keep track on ebay and buy the pieces there. Moonlight Rose is discontinued so only second hand pieces are available now.
Sorry for the late reply.
I wish to buy a full set, for 12, tea set and full dinner set . How can I acquire it? Serialong
You’ll have to scour ebay :)
Sorry for the late reply.
Hi there! I was wondering if you had any pictures comparing the different Montrose cup sizes? I recently ordered the Montrose coffee cup, or so I thought. What actually showed up was the demitasse cup. I was wondering if there was a difference between the tea and coffee cups mostly since this demitasse cup's flower pattern is easy to tell apart from the other two :)
Sorry for my late reply! I don’t have a size comparison, but the tea cups are definitely bigger than the coffee cups.
Hi are the telephones rare??I have one for sale but can't find any previous sales for a guide to pricing. Is anyone interested???
The telephones are absolutely rare. I don’t know how long ago I got this message but please email me at [email protected] if you still have it as I’m interested.
Thanks for taking the time to write this article. About the backstamp, if it's off centered what does that mean? I am currently bidding on a Royal Albert tea cup and the back stamp is totally off centered.
Hello! Thanks for checking my page out!
As far as I know, the back stamp being off centered isn’t an issue. It doesn’t mean anything special. It’s ONLY ever if the back stamp is scratched, like an obvious dig-into-the-porcelain-a-bit scratch that it’s a second rate cup.
So I think you’re safe :) Good luck!
Here it is! An ASMR video with tea party theme! Enjoy the Moonlight Roses! :)
I am still alive guys, so sorry I haven’t been here much. I’m actually working on an ASMR video with my china! Stay tuned!
