Learning this is a lot easier if you know the song well..chord changes, etc. I don’t know the chord names, so I numbered them (1-9). It’s the simplest way, and I can say this tab is probably 100% correct. The chords are in chronological order, so you just need to match the strumming patterns to the lyrics. The easiest way is to know the ins and outs of the song.
For a visual reference: on youtube search “Satellite - Elliott Smith live”, it’s basically the only live video of the song on youtube. It should be from 2003, when he played at Steamboat in Austin, TX. The video is spot on to the tab. It’s perfect, it shows his hand the whole time!

If you are at all confused here is my best example…
The first chord (1) is strummed 4 times in full, then on the fifth strum you would switch to (2), then add the (3), then to (4), (this is a quick motion), then hang on the (5). On this chord (5), the vocals come in… (while the hands are pointing)

Once again, the easiest way of learning the song is to listen to it and figure out the strumming patterns and chord changes. Once you do, I promise you will feel accomplished and proud of how great it sounds!
