Introduction post:

So, here's the obligatory introduction post for Tumblr blogs, lol. Please check out my Carrd.co to see things about me!

Hiya! Name's Charlie and I use shadow/shadowself, nightmare/nightmareself, and (rarely) it/its pronouns! FOLLOW MY OTHER ACCS: @toodles-wrighte (DW ask blog) @toodlesplayplace (DW au) I am both an artist and author, not containing a degree for either, however it is a hobby for me, and I quite enjoy it. I mainly draw cats because I ADORE 'em, but I can draw a good amount of other animals (though I'm much less skilled in drawing them). Currently, I am writing books for all my ocs that I will post on this Blog, and all of these characters are based around my own universe. I'm still doing world building and changing stuff around, as my books and characters USED to be based off Warrior Cats, but now I want them to be their own thing. So, if you're interested (and don't want spoilers), avoid looking at the reference sheet and message me if you'd like to draw them, but don't want to be spoiled!

Not only that, but I'm on DeviantArt, Bluesky, and ToyHouse as well! Also, I (occasionally) post videos on my YouTube! I would rather not get scammed bc I post art. ^^ A quick mention if anyone recognizes me from my old Tumblr acc: I deleted it and remade this account to soft reset my Tumblr. Stopped posting to improve my art (also bc of some other things lol), but didn't like how my older, ugly art that I wasn't proud of kept getting liked over my newer, better art (ugly to my standards now tho LMFAO). This is why, rather than just continue posting on my old acc, I just deleted and reused the handle, lol. If Tumblr had a "reset acc" option, I would've used it.

Oh boy, I am really late to posting these, but better late then never, ey? the first piece here was pretty experimental! I didn't do as much detail, obviously, but that was mainly the point. I wanted to try doing a less detailed background to match a character who also has less detailed shading themself, so the background didn't take the focus from the character. I wish I spent a bit more time on it, but I did feel a bit time-crunched. As for the second... Well I was very time-crunched, as I only had like 5 days left lol. These are the only two attacks I was able to get out for ArtFight, which is a big shame! I like doing a lot of attacks for ArtFight, and I really hate only attacking people I'm close with, but things have been kinda rough for me this summer. June kinda sucked with a couple of things, and then my laptop totally died. I finally got a new one in July, but of course I was pretty drained. Between a lot of things in life since like, January, I've been drained, hence why I haven't posted in a while. I also haven't drawn much in a bit, and one of the few things I have drawn is from a media that now has a controversial dev RIGHT as I was coming back to it (I've posted it before, so, yk, take a bloody guess lol). So... I'm a bit hesitant to post it. I love that drawing, and I think it's one of my best works, but I don't want people to think I currently support that dev. I meant to post this a while ago (like, on Christmas a while ago), however I got so incredibly sick with a strain of the flu that both gave me bronchitis and lymphadenopathy that it just totally escaped my mind to actually post art on my accounts. Plus, taking into account the uh, fact I'm still recovering and that my birthday was yesterday, I was busy. Anyway, this is Silentpaw! A character that will be added to my Isle of Crystals (previously Isla Del Olvido, but we had to kick the previous co-owner so we changed up stuff) roleplay server eventually! They're a half-Clan Apprentice who was born in the beach Clan. They'll likely struggle to fit in both Clans, as they'd likely have features that make it hard for them to live in CanopyClan (more sea-adapted traits), while in CoastalClan their pelt would be so dark that it would cause them to overheat easily.

Finished an artstyle test that I wanted to do using my oc, Willowflame! I'm very much liking the softer shading over trying to do a full cel shading that I used to do. Though, I do believe that mixing the two would give me THE most realistic option for shading/lighting. However, I will admit, Louixie does it far better than I do right now. I will have to practise it to get better at this shading, of course! In here you can also see me doing a test of more teeth too! I figured I should also practise heavy wind in this piece, as I hadn't really done anything like that earlier. Think I could've made it look a bit more like the wind was blowing her fur, bur considering the snow I did also is falling fast in the direction of the wind, I think it's noticeable enough. Sadly, this took far longer than I would've liked. Hopefully next time it'll only take ~a couple of days.

It's been a wee bit since I've last posted, but I've been a bit busy with school stuff again, I've been falling behind a bit because I've been having a lot of health issues, HOWEVER, because my doctor finally gave me medications that I believe are working for me, I've been able to actually catch up on the art I've been unable to do! So, here we are, 3 designs I've done!

First cat: Palewind, CavernLands Scout.

Second cat: Rivershade, SnowyLands Forager.

Last cat: Bloomflight, SnowyLands Splitpaw.

It might not be too obvious, but I'm trying out a new artstyle, specifically seen with the last cat! Specifically I'm changing up the ears, nose, eyes, and lineart style! I'm taking inspiration from Louixie, and hopefully the way I draw maws will change as well!

My next drawing might be a test of simple shading perhaps, feel like I need to actually try upping it a bit more, because it's not exactly the best rn. I'll also be taking some inspo from Louixie for this!

Been a while since I've posted, as I've been so busy with school stuff and overall just not feeling well, but I'm no longer too terribly busy to post (today at least). Hopefully I'll get to doing a bit more art soon. So, here's my main villain guy, Grass Scar! Basically, he's the second-hand man to Zenith, the actual villain/big bad of the story. He's cruel, ruthless, and overall just a horrible cat. After the Envoy Vine Stripe disappears, he's made into the new Envoy, and soon later the Leader Speckback disappears as well, making Grass Scar CavernLands' Leader.

Finally finished this long-outstanding piece of my oc/sona! Since I did the guidelines/sketch, C changed a LOT, and quite honestly I'm excited to do the full reference for shadow bc shadow's practically a new oc now!

Gift art for a friend! They've been a very good friend to me, so I figured drawing their ponysona would be nice. It was in the midst of ArtFight tho, so it DID take away a potential attack I could've done, but like, whateverrrr. I feel like out of all the parts on this, the eyes are way too big and the swirls in the hair could've been done better. But next time I will take the eyes part into account, as I've only JUST drawn two MLP ponies so far. The swirls were likely from burnout tho, LOL.

MWEHEHEHEHEEE THIS WAS MY LAST ARTFIGHT ATTACK OF THE YEAR. While I took at LEAST 12h on it (more likely 16), I feel it was worth it for my friend, who's been with me for 5 years now (and even if it was on and off, she still has been a great support to me)! Besides, it gave me practise for the future of my art! Meet Morningsun of SpheneClan on the Isla Del Olvido near the Gulf of Mexico! Being a kit born to Robinfire and Blazedawn, she never really got to meet her dad, as Blazedawn died trying to defend the kits from an osprey. She was named after Blazedawn, and so were her siblings besides one. This character comes from a roleplay I own! So yk, some stuff is always subject to change whenever, but like, I doubt it.

Woohoo! First ArtFight went pretty decently I'd say. While I wasn't happy with a couple of pieces, and I'm espc not happy of how a couple ppl treated me so far, it was a pretty fun time overall! I've still got one more attack to do, but because it's FAR more detailed for my friend, I'm taking so much longer to do it. I think I'm most proud of the last piece, the MLP oc. I think my biggest flaw this year was probs not preparing harder? Idk I feel like the two cat full bodies I did aren't exactly the best, even if I DID use references for both. Maybe I just didn't get good enough refs lol, bc I've NEVER drawn MLP ocs before, but it's like, the best piece I did LOL. My goal for next year is hopefully to be able to do more attacks, and to have much higher quality ones than what I did (as, again, not proud of a couple). Of course because ArtFight is right around the corner (literally tomorrow), I just HAD to get this reference sheet done! And just in the nick of time too! I was really worried I wouldn't be able to get her reference done in time for ArtFight because along with my migraines and other general health issues. It was RIGHT around exam time when I was actually starting to work on her ref sheet, so like, yeah, lots of issues there with time. BUT, as you can see, I DID IT!!! After way too long, I've finally finished the Willowflame reference sheet remake! I would've posted this sooner buuut I was having some health issues. Of course, I had to do Willowflame next, like, she's one of the biggest non-main characters that actually live in SnowyLands, unlike cats like Grass Scar or Tigerlily. If you take a look at her old design, even though the general theme and pattern/colours are the exact same, this is a MASSIVE glow up compared to what I had going before. I'm not sure if this'll be forever or just for a few months, but the Blushcrunch as a whole and the community (the parts I was directly involved in seemed to always have drama with toxic people and even the "good" parts felt exclusive to me) kinda put the off the game. Besides the outside game issues, it's just a boring game that needs to fucking focus on, jeez, Idk, GAMEPLAY, over adding a single new toon and remodel once every update. And no, maps don't count. Uhhh DW rant over, Waspflight ref coming soon to hopefully be done by art fight mweeehehhe.

I've been a bit inactive because I've been overall not feeling the greatest and trying to catch up with some school work. HOWEVER, I was able to bang out these things real quick! I'll likely be working on Magic Reborn and the Sleepwalk PMV before doing DW stuff, or at least do those a little less. Sorry gang I'm really not enjoying it too much HELP. For these, I had ORIGINALLY planned to make the second one a flat. However, because I hadn't done it for a while, I figured I kinda owed my friend something a little grander, even if it was just a gift and not any sort of commission. I wanted to try doing a bit more testing with some cell shading and also lighting direction a bit more. First cat, Barracudastar, owned by @soupstarss. Second cat, Stormchaser, owned by Scarlett/Rockstardog (on ToyHouse).

Finished this handful of adopts that I've been reworking for around a week now. These were made based around my own books' lore, however I can see the more natural ones being Warrior Cats ocs, and the unnatural ones being used as fursonas or other sorts of characters.
