A longtime fixture of the Joburg creative community, Roy has always had an eye for opportunity and a talent for making things happen. Having got his hands dirty in everything from textiles to tattoo shops, his current passions for photography, technology and emerging markets have seen him rise to fame as an Mobile Photographer, bringing both international exhibition and critical acclaim. Currently the co-founder and creative wizz at Mobile Media Mob - a visual based mobile content agency, Roy spends his days giving brands a piece of his ever-resourceful mind.

Last month, I pledged to make my work more accessible by taking it to the streets. With the help of Lumia, I have done just that. If I had known how accomplished I would have felt after completing this pledge, I would have done it sooner! I was a little mysterious about what exactly I’d be doing to share my passion with you all, but here is a breakdown of what I completed.

I really needed to think outside of the box and try something different. With the help of my good friend Alex, i converted a couple of my images into halftone vectors and printed them large format. We then proceeded to hit the streets. Watch the video we made to see the process and final product.

I’ve worked really hard over the last few years, to buildup an audience of fans who appreciate the unique images that I shoot.

My Instagram started out as a way to simply share all my work with others, but it’s turned into something so much more…

I’ve had a particular item on my New Year’s resolution list for the past while. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but have never really put my mind to making it happen.

As such i’ve decided to take my work to the street, making it accessible to real people outside of the digital space.

BEST HOSTEL PHOTO CHALLENGE

Hasta el momento todos los hostes donde me he alojado, así como su personal, están siendo sobresalientes, sin embargo, quizás el más impactante de todos haya sido Coffee Shark, en Coffee Bay. Amanecer durante varios días en esas cabañas rústicas con el Oceáno Indico de foto y en semejante entorno natural es, sencillamente, espectacular

So far all hostes where I have stayed and his staff are amazing, however, perhaps the most shocking of all was Coffee Shark at Coffee Bay. Waking up several days in these rustic cabins with the Indian Ocean as backgorund and in such natural surroundings are simply stunning.

Best Landscape Challenge

Uno de los aspectos que más me están sorprendiendo de Sudáfrica son sus verdes y frondosos paisajes de la Wild Coast. Durante mi estancia en Coffee Bay me invitaron a ver la puesta del sol desde un elevado acantilado que nos ofrecía una preciosa mirada sobre la bahía de Coffee Bay. Un lugar sencillamente espectacular y que me cautivó por completo. Un paisaje único en el mundo que nunca olvidaré.

One of the aspects that are most surprising to me in South Africa are its lush green landscape of the Wild Coast. During my stay in Coffee Bay, I was invited to watch the sunset from a high cliff that gave us a beautiful view over the bay of Coffee Bay. A place simply spectacular and that captivated me completely. A unique landscape in the world that will never forget.

La verdad es que en España no acostumbro a desayunar muy fuerte pero aquí, como todos los días, vienen cargados de actividades no me queda otra que empezar los días con fuerza... aquí os dejo uno de los deliciosos, y contundentes, desayunos que pude disfrutar en Coffee Shark, en la Wild Coast.
