I’m optimistic about the fact that someday you’ll realize that all this religion stuff was designed to keep you from ever being truly fulfilled and happy.
But God and Jesus and the Saints do make me feel fulfilled and happy, that's what you don't understand. I love my Savior and my faith in Him and His word keeps me from falling into the depression that the rest of this town seems to have. I just wish everyone else would see how much better they'd feel if they put their trust in Him.
I mean, I don't want to preach at anyone, but that's what I hope and pray for, at least.
Only if you enjoy unanswered prayers.
Is it just that hard for you to be optimistic about anything?
It’s kind of hard to come up with that stuff now.
They're pretty long-lasting if they're in the right temperatures. So it's not impossible that they can be found.
Nothing better to do I guess.
Maybe I should pray for that bad attitude of yours while I'm at it.
To do what?
To bake stuff. Cookies, cupcakes, that sort of thing.
While I'm praying for everyone's safe return, I'm also praying for some flour and sugar.
At the Trading Post || Ruby + Mags
Mags sighed in relief when the young girl finally opened her eyes. She placed a gentle hand on the girl’s shoulder, guiding her into a seated position. “You didn’t bother me at all, sweetie.” As the young girl mentioned the heat, Mags looked up into the sky and nodded. “It really is. I guess I didn’t notice until now.” The sun had been a warm welcome on Mags skin since she hardly ever left the house. She noticed the girl looking at the nearly full water bottle that she still had in her hands. Without a second thought, Mags pushed the water bottle into her small hands. “Here, drink this. It’ll help.”
"Oh, no, I can't take your water," Ruby said quickly, shaking her head. "You probably need that. I'll just . . . I have water at home, I just forgot to bring it." She knew better than to stand, so she just gave Mags a faint smile. "Pretty stupid of me, huh?"
She glanced around, noticing how no one else had bothered to see if she was okay. She was suddenly really glad that this woman had been around to help her.
At the Trading Post || Ruby + Mags
Mags hadn’t been in the greatest of moods lately. With all the drama going on between her and Jack, she needed something in her life that wasn’t quite so dramatic. She didn’t have a job so going to work to take her mind off of things was out of the question. Her only true friend was Isabella who still had no idea of her affair with Jack after nearly a year. Maybe it would be best to go for a walk to clear her head. It was a pretty day outside and she hadn’t been out in a while.
With a water bottle in hand, Mags set out to walk the streets of Pleasant Town. She wasn’t headed anywhere in particular, just walking wherever her feet lead her. For some reason, she wound up the trading post. She didn’t have anything with her to trade, but still she walked along the tables. Mags was looking around in hopes of finding someone she knew, when she saw a girl fall to the ground. When it appeared that no one would help her, she ran to the girl’s side. Falling to her knees, Mags began to gently shake the girl. “Hey! Are you okay? Open your eyes…”
Ruby felt someone shaking her after a moment, and she opened her eyes, her face flushed and her lips chapped. She licked them and winced as she felt a split. Why hadn't she thought to bring a water bottle? So many things were on her mind, she'd completely forgotten.
"I-I'm okay," she said then, starting to sit up. She still felt dizzy though, and so didn't try to stand. She shaded her eyes with her hand as she looked at the young woman beside her. "Hi . . . sorry. I didn't mean to bother you I just . . . it's rather hot out here, isn't it?" She gave a soft laugh, though it turned into a cough. Her throat was so dry. She saw the young woman's water bottle, but didn't ask for it. It was unlikely the woman would share anyway, and she didn't want to get into an argument.
At the Trading Post || Ruby + Mags
Every day was the same. Ruby got up, she went to mass, did her confession, and then headed for the Trading Post to volunteer. She enjoyed her time there, helping people. She wished she could give them more, but she knew supplies were low. She hoped there'd be another supply run soon. The people needed more. They were suffering.
She sighed, pulling off her cardigan that she wore in church and folding it over her arm. It was too hot to wear it outside. She pulled her hair up into a ponytail, adjusting the straps of her tank top. She didn't know how many people would be at the trading post, but she kind of hoped there wouldn't be that many. The heat made her tired and dehydrated, and she was sure she wouldn't last longer than a few hours.
Sure enough, a couple hours later she started to feel dizzy. She looked around for a chair to sit in, but before she could reach it, she collapsed in a faint.
Then we’re totally on our way to fixing the world. It’s exciting.
Exciting, and and a little terrifying.
We need something fun to do around town. Something that doesn’t have a consequence of, you know, mass killings.
I agree! What did you have in mind?
I guess you’re right. I don’t know if they mayor will like that, though.
He probably won't. But if we can cure them instead of kill them . . .
Aw, shucks.
Unfortunately guys seem to be put off by the never-ending criticism. I don’t think the male ego wants to deal with all that in the bedroom.
It’s either that or the fact that I have the body of someone who attempted puberty but quickly gave up. Ya know- who knows? Guys are stupid.
I won't argue with you about that.
I don’t see why he wouldn’t, really.
But . . . I mean, if that's true then we have to stop killing them.
You’re allowed to mourn those you love, no matter what day it is.
I know. I just try to be strong, usually.
It wasn’t so much as a compliment a it was a plea for you to exploit your looks and prey on weak men in order to feed me… but you’re welcome.
You're cute too, you know.
Not that I want you to go sleeping around. But still.
