Working on a submission for FTL Y’All with Taz!
We’re working on my story Soldier Grass. I wrote it, Taz and I are on art duties!
Had some great help from my friend Steve (@sciencenotscary) on science and mining, from my Moonraker colleague Gwyn (Gwyn Conaway) on costume and armour, and my longtime research guru Timon for pretty much anything not belonging to Steve or Gwyn’s categories.
Soldier grass is about two conflicting wildcat lutetium mines, on a planet with atmosphere, algae and grass but no other life. There’s more than lutetium to be discovered there.
The main characters, Tig and Jaya Kaur, concepted by me:
Fiddling with silhouettes for Jaya Kaur’s kirpan. She’s Sikh, so she has to have her kirpan with her. She also has a kara but I haven’t designed it yet.
Taz knocked out some sweet designs for rail rifles:
I’ve done some thumbnailing of page layouts for Soldier Grass:
And some page samples, first Taz’s. FTL Y’All will be black and white, and Taz works well in greyscale:
My pages are from a Mass Effect fan comic I have in the works. These are rough pencils, they need some correction and refinement. Also, no detailing on the armour or anything yet:
Already got the script written. Hopefully we’ll get in! :)
Haven’t forgotten the Korra stories. Did a concept for a scene where Lin is mistaken for a refugee by a veteran of civil war.
Something I’m building in Blender. The blink was just a test.
Streaming: Greyboxing in Unity
This evening, I will be greyboxing in Unity. If you’d like to see how we’re making the game, this is one of the stages in level design.
Come watch at our Twitch! Moonraker Studios heeeere
I love Steven Universe. So I did a gemsona.Â
Fun fact about amber -- when silk or wool rubs against it, it produces static.
Lion is big and fluffy. The link was obvious.
Tonight’s stream. I talked about faces.
Streaming: faces!
Gonna be streaming around 5pm PST about drawing faces. If there are any questions about faces you’d like some info on, come on by or send me a message!
The Streaming link is the Twitch page for Moonraker. I will update before I go live.
This evening’s stream was productive! In Clip Studio (most of Juraira) and PS (Humay).
Streaming!
I will be streaming some drawing tonight!
Come hang out on the Moonraker Twitch! Ask questions, chitchat, request songs!
Spent some time painting. I haven't painted in a very long time. She isn't finished.
I haven't finished the hair, eyebrows, eyes, or lips. But I have struggled with skin as a challenge for years. I think my study and theory pays off pretty okay here.
Darker skin is more reflective, so if I can get the right quality in dark skin, it'll get easier. My Shadowlands project has characters with a very wide variety of skintones -- darker than this lovely girl, all the way to albinism.
Practicing smarter, not harder.
(Taking a break from game stuff today)
Poetry in Motion // Archana Akil Kumar & Sydney Nelson for Harper’s Bazaar Bride India April 2016
Weeeeird moment because these absolutely gorgeous women look eerily like ideas I had for the entourage of Nata the textile merchant.
Also,such purdy colours.
Beware of too much formula in your writing. Â Rules are meant to be broken.

Kili here, writer on this project! Here are some of the stages Haro has gone through!
Here we have her early character exploration and the final. It was important to establish a clear silhouette. Haro’s first design was done by Gwyn, who put a lot of thought into the clothing and hair silhouettes. It was tweaked by Lindsey, and further developed by Gwyn and Josh, our character animator.
That’s my gaaaaaame.
I named Haro. :D
A draft of our opening train car in motion. While Haro’s parents sleep on the train home, she wanders off in search of a good sunrise view. ~ And maybe some sweets on the side. ^_- ~ The final lines are complete and it is looking ornate and gorgeous. We seriously can’t wait to share! ~ This beaut is from our environment lead, Amilton Macedo ♡ ~ #games #gaming #videogames #characterdesign #visualdevelopment #gamedev #conceptdesign #conceptart #art #environmentart #characterart #lacunathegame #moonrakerstudios #environmentdesign #painting #illustration #steam #steamgreenlight #indiegames #gameart #gamedesign #unityengine #Designpersonagens #2dscroller #adventure #Girlpower #2Danimation #Jogo #Aventura #Designpersonagens
Behold the CRACK TEAM at work!
The teeeeeam!
Yep, we are all over the globe. We work in English, so communication is important for us especially! Trying to coordinate meeting times is interesting but everyone is awesome so we worked it out.
Counting mother tongues and acquire languages, we have English, Portuguese (two delightful flavours), Cantonese, Korean, and Spanish. So far.
This is us!
