hello, goodbye.
hello, goodbye.
hello, goodbye.
hello, goodbye.
hello, goodbye.
that day has haunted me.
sharp objects.

amy has never struck her as the sort of person things just happen to, no matter what anyone else might think; there’s something about the way that she carries herself, not a hair out of place unless she wants it to be, that says nothing happens unless i want it to. (with anyone else, she thinks, it’d be a quality she would admire; her own life has been such a strange hodgepodge of events that any semblance of control is something to be envious of. but with amy –– she hesitates. she’s not wholly sure why.)
she takes a sip of her coffee and, over the rim of the mug, lifts her brows. “really?”

‘ all of history was written by men, so… of course they’re gonna make themselves look good. ’
‘ as i recall, you couldn’t even get it up. ’
‘ bless your heart. bless your heart very much. ’
‘ can i sleep over with you? ’
‘ does it ever get better, with your family? ’
‘ fine, you can sleep in my bed, come on. you can sleep with me. ’
‘ hardly matters. you’re ruined. all out of spite. ’
‘ i believe she’s outstayed her welcome. ’
‘ i don’t mean to sound cruel, but i don’t think part of your heart can ever work if you don’t have kids. ’
‘ i forget sometimes how parents aren’t always good for their kids. ’
‘ i have to get home for heaven’s sake! ’
‘ i miss her sometimes, even though i didn’t know her. ’
‘ i never loved you. i hope that is of some comfort to you. ’
‘ i think we should just sleep separate tonight then we’ll hang out tomorrow, okay? ’
‘ i won’t grow up, not me. ’
‘ if i can, you can. ’
‘ if somebody says ‘bless your heart’, what they really mean is ‘fuck you’. ’
‘ it’s hotter than a whore in church today. ’
‘ i’m a bit tired, i think i should just sleep in my bed tonight. ’
‘ i’m glad you’re back. ’
‘ i’m incorrigible too. only she doesn’t know it. ’
‘ i’m just a little frustrated ‘cause the girl i’m seeing won’t call me back. ’
‘ i’m not decent. no, i’m not. ’
‘ i’m trash, from old money. ’
‘ i’ve just never been very good at the adult thing, i guess. ’
‘ just forget about it, alright? i have. ’
‘ let’s dig deep here… favorite color, favorite ice cream, favorite season? think you can handle it? ’
‘ life is pressure. grow up. ’
‘ my demons are not remotely tackled. they’re just mildly concussed. ’
‘ nothing’s ever your fault, is it? ’
‘ please stay. ’
‘ please stay. if i can, you can. ’
‘ she’s delicate. a rare rose. but not without thorns. ’
‘ so, uh, are you guys dating now? ’
‘ that day has haunted me. ’
‘ well, i’m an unconventional girl, that’s what you like about me. ’
‘ well, looks like we both got fucked. ’
‘ we’re alike. i knew we would be. ’
‘ what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger… unless it kills you. ’
‘ what if, after you die, part of you goes to heaven, part of you stays here, just to see how things turn out? ’
‘ whenever i’m here, i just– i feel like a bad person. ’
‘ you could take advantage of me maybe, when i’m drunk. ’
‘ you gonna hit me? be dangerous. ’
‘ you have the control and… they like you. ’
‘ you turned out so wonderful, smart, beautiful, successful, and brave. ’
‘ you were born with it, that cold nature. ’
‘ your friend sounds like an after school special. ’
‘ you’re a sick fuck. ’
‘ you’re like my sister. ’
‘ you’re like my soulmate. ’

ME AND YOU AND EVERYBODY –––––––––––––––––––– IND. PRI. SEL. MULTI-MUSE. WRITTEN BY SAM.
“And Max, the king of all wild things, was lonely and wanted to be where someone loved him best of all.”
— Maurice Sendak, Where The Wild Things Are
“I’ve killed for you. Who else can say that?” from shilah 8|
gone girl.
( accepting -- mutuals / @dirtypaw )
he gets like this sometimes. angry, and bristling, and like their entire friendship has been a competition, a who’s done what for whom. she’d like to say that it comes out of nowhere, hurtles toward them before either of them can stop it, but it doesn’t. she should’ve expected it, but when it finally boils to the surface, she’s still surprised. (this isn’t how it’s supposed to be. this isn’t how they’re meant to be, more importantly, but that seems a useless argument now. the how doesn’t matter when, instead, the is is right in front of them.)
as soon as the words are out of his mouth, her expression shutters. she doesn’t look away from him, though everything in her wants to. she’s sure, for a moment, that she’s misheard him, but the look on his face tells her otherwise.
i’ve killed for you. who else can say that? (roman could. roman has. but she doesn’t want to think of that, same as she doesn’t want to think of the awful, ugly things shilah has done for her. what they’ve all done for each other. she’s never asked that of either of them. she’s never wanted it.)
“i get it, shilah.” something sharp and acidic bleeds into her voice. “but i never asked you to. you don’t get to pin that on me.”

ROMANCE CANONS.
NAME: josephine (lewis) bragin. NICKNAME: generally, just jo –– and that’s really reserved for friends and family. roman calls her champ and shilah gets sweettart, but otherwise, she’s not huge on nicknames. GENDER: cis female. ROMANTIC ORIENTATION: bi. PREFERRED PET NAMES: roman has cycled through a couple of more traditional pet names throughout their relationship, and she hasn’t been opposed to any of them, really. she does have a preference for honey and sweetheart, especially, and it’s usually what he sticks to now. OPINION ON TRUE LOVE: she definitely believes in it –– josephine loves Love and everything that goes along with it. she used to have some really warped ideas about love, honestly, but she’s definitely grown out of them and learned to be better and i think, as she’s grown and formed different connections with different people, she’s also able to recognize and appreciate all the different types of love and how they’re equally important. as far as romantic love goes, she is still a little bit all or nothing, which has suited some of her relationships more than others. though she’d like to admit otherwise, she is a big True Love and Happily Ever After sort of romantic. life isn’t always that way, but she’d like for it to be. OPINION ON LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT: she would probably never admit it aloud but she believes in it, definitely. she doesn’t think she and roman were a love at first sight sort of story, but it’s probably as close to it as she’d ever get, and good enough for her to believe that yes, it’s out there, improbable as it seems. HOW ‘ROMANTIC’ THEY ARE: very! josephine doesn’t need them and often times doesn’t want them done for her, but she is very into Grand Gestures. she wants to make sure the person she’s with knows they’re loved, always, because it’s a very big thing for her, too, personally. still, her Grand Gestures are usually less materialistic and more personal, because she does really dedicate a lot of her time early on in a relationship to learning about whoever she’s with and what they like and don’t like and their particular love language, too. and, as much as she is about Big Things, she is also about Small Things. little reminders, to her, are often just as important. IDEAL PERSONALITY TRAITS: loyalty, honesty, and compassion are all Big to her –– she can’t really connect to someone who doesn’t have similar values to her own, and while she doesn’t want to be with someone who is exactly like her, she does seek out some key similarities. UNATTRACTIVE PHYSICAL TRAITS: i don’t think she necessarily has any –– physical traits matter less to her in the grand scheme of things. UNATTRACTIVE PERSONALITY TRAITS: everyone is a little bit selfish but excessive selfishness is a big no-no for her. she also really can’t get behind people who are extremely self-centered or unnecessarily manipulative or cruel. IDEAL DATE: josephine’s tastes in dates are pretty simple –– she likes the classic dinner and a movie, or she wants to go to a museum, or spend time outdoors (not camping though, never camping). she’s also a big fan of the ballet. in her experience, the quietest dates are usually the best, and she likes to stick to that now, too. DO THEY HAVE A TYPE?: she would say no, but yes, definitely. (roman bragin. it’s roman bragin.) AVERAGE RELATIONSHIP LENGTH: roman is and has been her longest running relationship, even before they got married. before that, a few months was her max before things fizzled out or grew stagnant in a way she didn’t like. or, with jack, a few months is how long it took for her to realize what sort of person he was and cut ties while she still could. PREFERRED NON-SEXUAL INTIMACY: josephine is big on physical affection, generally speaking, both with her romantic partners and with anyone else she feels close enough to. but she likes just spending time together, really, and it doesn’t have to be doing anything specific; watching a movie or reading together are always good options, too, and something she and roman do fairly often. COMMITMENT LEVEL: like i said, josephine is very All or Nothing. she’s had a few casual relationships, definitely, but she doesn’t prefer them; she’d rather know that she’s with a person and they’re with her and that’s that. OPINION OF PUBLIC AFFECTION: she enjoys it to a degree, but also draws the line pretty clearly for herself, too. PAST RELATIONSHIPS: jack powell, after she left westchester and moved to new york. they dated for close to a year and were nearly engaged before josephine ended things.
