Vision Architecture

Philip Gunkel is an international professional fine art photographer based in Berlin that specializes in architecture, commercial and landscape photography. His passion is to create images of architecture that mirror the thoughts of the architects who created the structures.

The Glass Centre in Lommel

The Glass Centre, Flemish Centre for Modern Art, designed by Philippe Samyn and Partners has been constructed along the length of the “De Vryheyt” passage, right in the heart of the town of Lommel. On “Dorp” square it completes the cultural ensemble formed by the Aerts house and the regional tourist centre. In the “De Vryheyt” passage, a new glass gallery links “Dorp” square with the “De Adelberg” cultural centre and its future theatre.

The nature of the project required us to design a glass building, and it has been designed in such a way that the space it provides blends in seamlessly with the art it displays and produces, forming a unified whole. Furthermore, the structure emphasises the Glass Centre’s multifunctionality (education, information, services, exhibitions and glass production).

The Art of Kiyohiko Azuma

Kiyohiko Azuma is a manga artist perhaps best known for his series Yotsuba&! about the naïve 5-year old Yotsuba who humorously stumbles her way through life. Stylistically, Yotsuba is always drawn more cartoonishly while her surroundings take on a different, more realistic look. And the astounding level of detail that can go in to some of Azuma’s backgrounds can render them as standalone works of art.

Linkin Park was more than just “angsty teenage music.” It spoke emotions we couldn’t put into words and in an age of growing up where anger and frustration were looked down on, their lyrics made you feel that it was okay to be angry and to be pissed off and that those emotions were valid and healthy. For me, they made me feel a lot less alone growing up. My heart is so heavy at this news. Thank you Chester for all that you gave so many of us who society just brushed off or dismissed. Thank you for everything. May your soul know peace ❤️
