October is Breast Cancer awareness month and it hits home because my grandmother died of breast cancer when my mom was my age and evidently runs in our family. Though I’ve never met my grandmother and first hand saw the pain she experienced, I know how my mom felt losing her mother. It doesn’t matter if you wear a wig or show off that beautiful bald head or have one breast or two or none you’re still just as lovely. Breast cancer isn’t just “pink” and pretty. It’s black and ugly and painful and sometimes gray. If you know someone who had breast cancer or has dealt with it, please just remind them how lovely and beautiful they are. Cancer doesn’t define you, please remember that.
