This blog will be going on temporary hiatus. Enjoy the archives. I’ve worked very hard on compiling Mishima quotes and rare photographs, only to find that they are frequently being reblogged by blogs I fundamentally disagree with. Tumblr is a free space, therefore I can only control so much; however, this blog was meant to appreciate one of the world’s greatest writers and fascinating people, not to be used for political reasons, particularly hateful politics. It’s been my pleasure working on this blog, and I hope fans of Mishima find all the treasures within.

They had been too proud even in their sufferings
Yes, he should have spoken to them. He should have armed them with the foreknowledge that would keep them from flinging themselves after their destinies, take away their wings, keep them from soaring, make them march in step with the crowd. The world does not approve of flying. Wings are dangerous weapons.

He was the only one there who was set upon action
Isao felt keenly that he must develop the knack of masking his feelings in dealing with others. He had now become a man quite of out the ordinary. Even if nothing in his bearing showed this, the least carelessness might let people get wind of it. They might detect that within him was the odor of a burning fuse.

Isao's eyes, revisited
“Beautiful eyes!” Honda exclaimed to himself. “Clear and shining, forever disconcerting others. Peerless young eyes radiating a censure that seems from another world, as if one were suddenly plunged beneath the waters of Sanko Falls. Go ahead, express what you like. Confess to anything at all. Be deeply wounded. You’re at the age when you should be learning the means to defend yourself. By speaking out without restraint, you will at last learn that no one is willing to believe the truth, one of the most valuable lessons a man can learn about life. This is the only wisdom I have to convey to eyes as beautiful as yours.”
