Infinite painter. I tried recreating an idea after I failed to save on the same app. I would like to develop other ways of sketching an idea. I also need to watch the LearnSquared classes that I paid for.

I was doodling in app Infinite Painter. Unlike Procreate, the changes are not saved automatically... and I lost two drawings. Argh. I need to get familiar with the apps I have purchased.
Mmm yeah, let’s try to go down to 48 kg!
Day one. Arthur’s Seat. Extinct volcano. Easy trail. Good view of the city. I walked the most this day.
The Edinburgh Castle.
I got to see the Honours (crown, scepter, sword) that represent Scottish rulership.
For a nation to be recognized, the Vatican has to acknowledge the nation. (I think that’s why scepter appears.) It is interesting how much influence the church. (But how much of the church activities were focused on the actual worship of God, versus serving the interest of those in power?)
One of the exhibits focused on Scottish Greys (dragoon). From the exhibit, I gathered that Scottish highlanders were perceived as tough soldiers. (Many people here grow up loving the wilderness.)
One of the halls honors all the Scots who served in th military and had fallen. Their names are written in a book that corresponds to their branch and time period.
Holyrood Palace - the Queen’s residence in Scotland.
We were not allowed to take photos inside the palace, so I only have photos of the exterior parts of the palace.
The Queen and the royal family still use this palace - and the palace is less extravagant than I had expected. The royal family lives pretty humbly.
I also was able to learn about the ambitious Queen Mary of Scots. She was only a short paragraph in my European history textbook, but she is a significant figure in Scottish history. She is also the mother of James VI / I, ruler who ruled both England and Scotland (after Queen Elizabeth died without a child).
This palace is right next to Arthur’s Seat.
The Scotland Museum(?)
I am thankful for the opportunity to see how this nation remembers and perceives itself and it’s heritage. UK is complicated.
Highlight of the Museum was seeing how the Industrial Age changed everything. History coming alive! I learned that weaver used to be a very prestigious and demanded occupation, until power weaver became popular.
Some of the food that we had on the highland. Each of the restaurants that Siwei took me to presents itself as a fancy restaurant. (I got to go to more fancy restaurants in few days that I do in a whole year!) At a small town hotel, I got to try steak pie. (It’s beef stew and puff pastry.) At the AirBnB place that we stayed, the host made us oatmeal with splash of whiskey. Scottish oatmeal is really creamy.
Dean Village and Dean Bridge. I’m not sure what the story behind this area is. The view of red brick buildings on creek was pleasant, and the bridge was impressive. This area would be nice for a walk or run.
The tour guide was excellent!!! I was not aware of the Scottish history, but going to multiple castles, learning from the Scottish Museum helped me understand who and what happened. It’s incredible that Scotland has so much historical artifacts left intact, or restored well, and open to the public. I enjoyed seeing the halls as they would have appeared back then. The (new) tapestries were vivid in color, and velvets and silks were beautiful. I also learned that the Scottish royals (and probably other noblemen) did not get to enjoy the extravagant luxuries that they possessed. They rarely slept on their official bed - often they had a secret bedroom, less fancy, smaller, that would provide better security. These bedrooms were often used as a place of meeting. The Scottish weather was (and still is) too chilly for the big halls. I also learned that the royal family only stayed in a castle for about a month. They packed all furnitures and most of their servants and court would move along with them. As the ladies dressed in antiquated costumes explained, this was because the castle would become smelly after a while, so the party moved to a new castle, while leaving behind a few servants to clean up the castle. They also got to see the different parts of the country, show their presence to the people they ruled, and ensured that they won’t consume all of the town’s food. This practice was common with other European royalties.
Everywhere we went to, there were cakes. The assortment was similar in each place too. Scottish people really love cake. Golden Larch B&B in Lochearnhead, and the Unicorn Cafe in Stirling Castle.
Pencil + Marker landscape. (But using marker on top of graphite pencil is a terrible idea.)
Kyoto (River), Seattle (path)
And then a short scene idea that popped into my head today. (No stories attached to it though, but some short stories go on as something that seem incomplete.)
Hello! I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently, and thought I’d commit it to writing. Let me know what you think! Here’s the Links- Bargue Plates tutorial and The plates themselves

Marshall Vandruff Perspective You can get the books on Amazon, although the authors are long dead, so personally I don’t have a problem with anybody pirating PDFs. I have some previous posts about recommended Documentaries, Lessons, and Books for animators if you’re interested too
Quick & simple pencil drawings. Based on recent and old travel photos (Jeju, and Venice), I wanted to draw more after seeing drawings done by Jessoo (Korean artist I’m currently obsessed with). I should also try doing casual ink/marker. I should just draw more. (But I’m focusing on studying so I get find a good job, not art-related, soon.)
Life is so complicated.
Travel watercolor palette on travel multi media sketchbook. Still learning.
Last minute Mother's Day cards. Stargazer lily and peony. Dr. Oh. Martin's Bombay india ink, about 30 minutes, on Strathmore Kids Paintpad

(it's the effort that counts the most, I think)
