I heard my manager talk about me on the phone and she said "she's a pharmacist, she's just not licensed yet." That made me feel so good. That's what I feel like, I've just got these weeks in the way! 4 weeks and 2 days to go.

Day 1 of a new focus for this blog
Since I’m finished with pharmacy school and passed my PEBCs, I decided to switch the focus of my blog from a studyblr to a personal blog about my experiences of becoming a pharmacist. Since its nearly 11:30 and I am sooo tired, I’ll leave it there for tonight. I’ll make an actual post tomorrow.
tips for how to get up earlier when you aren't a morning person
starting out:
remember that you don’t have to make drastic changes. start slowly, by waking just 15-30 minutes earlier than usual. get used to this for a few days. then cut back another 15 minutes. do this gradually until you get to your goal time. for me, my goal time every morning is 6am EST.
have a good reason to want to make this change. set something to do early in the morning that’s important. this might be something like exercising, checking email, studying, etc. this reason will motivate you to get up.
practical things to do:
if you use a physical alarm clock, put it in a physical space away from your bed. when it rings in the morning, this forces you up out of bed to turn it off.
never hit the snooze button on your alarm.
put your laptop and phone far away from your bed to charge at night.
get out of bed as soon as you turn your alarm clock off.
change out of your pajamas/the outfit you slept in asap.
be cautious about the naps you take; don’t overload on them as you are trying to make this change.
try a phone or desktop app that will make the transition to being awake easier for your brain to make.
benefits to waking up early:
waking up early correlates with better grades.
waking up early enhances your productivity.
waking up early gives you more time to exercise and/or study.
waking up early actually improves your quality of sleep.
waking up early helps you enjoy some quiet time before a busy day begins.
Pharmacy degree = complete
Just need MUN to award it to me. On to working towards my board weeks and studying for PEBCs. 💪🏻
T minus 3 days left of my pharmacy degree
It just seems so surreal. I'm really not sure how to comprehend it. I have so much to do in those 3 days that I'm sure I'll blink and it'll be over. I have to attend case presentations and present mine on Monday I have to chat with a doctor on Tuesday morning regarding two of my patients. There will potentially be a Therapeutic discussion for us students on Tuesday afternoon. I have to perform a follow up with 2 of my patients at some point between Monday and Tuesday. I need to write up handover notes for the pharmacists who are taking over the study once we are finished. And last but not least, I have to complete evaluations of myself, my preceptors and the SPE program. All of this with the threat of a snow storm on Monday. The one time I don't want a snow day! Every other time this rotation we ended up not getting the snow we were expecting so no snow days for us. Oh well, it is what it is I guess. Wish me luck!

WHO’s First-Ever List Of The 12 Most Dangerous ‘Superbugs’:
Twelve types of bacteria were deemed “priorities” in urgent need of new antibiotics, according to a list released by the World Health Organization. The first list of its kind, it highlights bacteria that global health experts believe pose the greatest threats to human health. The WHO is calling on governments and pharmaceutical companies to prioritize the development of new drugs against them. Factors used to determine the bacteria posing the most risk included the levels of resistance seen already, the mortality rates of these bacteria today, their prevalence out in communities and the burden they place on health systems.
Saw a Pseudomonas aerginosa strain last rotation that was resistant to everything. They used one of the new 4th generation cephalosporins on her. Not sure how it turned out. Scary.

Planing my week and remaking some notes
02.15.17 • 9pm Preparing for my case presentation tomorrow. This is mostly what my first rotation of clerkship has consisted of, along with journal club and another presentation. Pretty nervous that I will get grilled but prepared to back myself up with my reasoning. Eep.
Study tips?
I have to write my PEBCs (Canadian Pharmacist licensing exam) in May. It consists of two days of 3 hourish multiple choice tests and a day of practical stations. There is so much to study before then but I have no idea where to start. Just wondering if anyone has some tips on how to study for such a big exam that covers so many topics?
Learning so much on this placement that I had to start writing it all down in one place. Hopefully this will come in handy when studying for PEBCs and ultimately as a practicing pharmacist someday!
Clerkship began last week. I am on the general surgery unit with the clinical pharmacists for that specialty. Today while I was going through the patient records I discovered that one of the patients I interviewed during my 2nd year hospital placement is currently in on the unit. His case is so unique that I knew it was him the moment I read the file. I honestly can’t get over the coincidence.
You don't know why you're studying anymore?
You’re studying because you want to get a good grade, you’re studying because you want to show that you’re capable, you’re studying because you want to go to your favorite university, you’re studying because you want to be a doctor, a judge, an engineer, an artist, whatever you dream of. You’re studying because you wanna do what you love. You’re studying what you hate because you want to do amazing things one day. You’re studying because you have a goal. You’re conflicted because you care. You’re procrastinating because you think you won’t be good enough, so why even try? But let me tell you, if you keep lying down and just thinking about your ambitions, they will never come true. You gotta work for it. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it. I promise you it will be worth it. And don’t think, not even for a second, that you can’t do it. Don’t make excuses. You CAN and WILL do it. You’re studying because it will help you do it.
