Something new happening, work in progress! 🤩 Usually I work intuitively without a plan. Sometimes I make a doodle in a my sketchbook and use it as a reference. This one has been a combination of the two ways so far… swipe along for a sketch. I’m not sure about the curvy bits, like how to back it and quilt it so it doesn’t flop when hung on the wall. I’m looking forward to quilting this at some point soon, will need to decide on a binding. Made entirely from scraps and leftovers. I was making these embroidered labels for past projects last week. I should really start signing/labelling as a finish each thing. I really like my scrawled signature on the cotton bed linen scrap. Should I be putting any other info on there? Also not entirely sure about the dates for each work 🤔but hey, I’m not working in a museum! Obliterating Batman - This is the work in progress after the sample piece I posted a couple of days ago. I’ve been stitching down these squares in spare moments all week and I think I’m done. I had intended to cover the whole thing but I like the shape they’ve created just covering the Batman pillow case. I’m really enjoying this colour and pattern combination. Does it need a touch of black? Or something to bring out the panel on the right? New finish! What do you think? Swipe along for details. Another self portrait, a few years in the making, done. I gaffer taped this quilt top up as a wall hanging when I first made it. Finally got around to quilting, binding and hanging. The texture of the stitches has totally changed the look of it (to my mind anyway), it feels different to me now. I’m still pleased with it! NEW WORK! - The piece I was playing about with on Insta stories a while ago - all finished! What d’ya think? Calling it ‘Chester Cathedral, 2021’ the base was a tea towel from there and my mum was born there 👍 I’m happy with how this turned out, obvs my favourite part of the off-centre black and white polkadot scrap! (Maybe you’ll remember it’s the vintage fabric lining I used in my trench coat remake ‘cut and shunt’?) I also enjoyed trying different ways of hand quilting. Checkin’ into Christmas 🎄 Despite recently lockdown news, trying to stay upbeat and enjoy all the sewing time I’ll have for next couple of weeks. It’s hard to shift the constant low key anxiety init. A small quilt with red spots strewn around in nature! Wanstead Flats to be precise. Up a tree, in the dry grass and on a bush 🔴🌳🔴🌾🔴☘️🔴 Red spot improv quilt, made from used shirts, scraps and an old bed sheet, 86 x 71cm knotted with wool bought in a charity shop.
