It was truly a privilege that Reese was the only one that got to see Ryan like this. He was lucky, that was for sure. Not everyone got to have someone like Ryan in their lives, and he often reminded himself that Ryan was all his. That they were each others. Reese was brought out of his little bubble of bliss by Ryan’s voice, though the smile didn’t falter as he let his boyfriend take both of his hands. His heart started pounding in his chest, blinking at the boy before him as he continued to talk. It wasn’t the normal kind that was caused by just being around Ryan, but it was heavy as he took in the words he was saying. It wasn’t until he was being pulled up off the ground that it clicked what was going on, “Oh my god.” He breathed out, low enough that only he heard it because Ryan was too busy talking again. His hands squeezed Ryan’s, keeping himself from passing out if he was being honest. He knew what the whole night was for, not even surprised that he didn’t pick up on it at first. Reese was never one for being attentive and picking up on the most obvious things, he just thought it was another night out between the two of them, like the many they had before. This night was so much more than that. The past seven months of being with Ryan flashed in his mind, a wide smile making its onto his face as his eyes crinkled at the corners. He let out a small laugh as he watched Ryan get down on one knee, still not even close to believing what was happening was real. It didn’t take him long at all to give Ryan an answer, starting with a nod before speaking, “Yeah.” He nodded a little more fervently after that, “Forever sounds really damn good.” He tugged on his hand to make him stand up again, bringing his hands up on either side of his face to full him in for a passionate kiss, smiling into it.
Ryan was not surprised with the boy's answer. He knew they were going to be together for a lifetime and that fact alone had him in tears. Standing up once again, he immediately embraced Reese, kissing him passionately and wanting to never let go of this moment. This was real. They were officially engaged and Ryan could not feel more satisfied than he was at this moment. They would spend the rest of their lives together, doing everything they could ever imagine. No matter where they ended up, no matter what life was going to throw at them, they were always going to be at each other's side. This was true love. After a solid moment of kissing his fiance, Ryan pulled himself back and smiled life he had never smiled before. "We're really engaged." He whispered. Hearing the words for the first time was intimidating but he knew this was something right, it felt right. "I think it's time to celebrate." Ryan took another step back as he reached below them for the bottle of champagne he had been saving. Holding the bottle out, he peeled the wrapper out and tossed it aside. "This is to us and the many, many years to come." He shouted as if there were an audience. Within seconds, he popped the top off and held up the bottle, letting a small amount to shoot out. Passing the bottle to Reese, he bent down to pick up the two glasses they needed. "To us." He spoke softly as he held out the glasses, letting Reese pour the champagne into them.

It was hard for the seventeen year old to keep his eyes off his boyfriend, only straying away to look up at the stars. There was something settling heavy in his chest but he liked the way it felt, it was like the weight of just knowing that there would be hundred of more nights like this with Ryan. “I remember,” He said with a nod, squeezing the boy’s hand and playing with his fingers, a smile still on his face as the skin around his eyes started to crinkle. “I feel the same way,” He spoke when the other boy was finished, “I didn’t think it was possible to love someone so much, but I do. I love you so much, Ry. Everything with you has been so, so worth it. Every single moment, including this one already.”
"I couldn't agree more, everything has been truly magical with you." Ryan stated, as he pulled the boy close to him, closing his eyes and enjoy the moment. He was almost ready to make the big move and that terrified him. This was going to be it, this was going to be the big moment and he didn't know how to make it just right. "Well, there's a reason why I have all of this set up and why I wanted to com here tonight." He began to explain before sitting up and grabbing both of Reese's hands, looking at him directly in the eyes. Ryan truly loved everything about this boy. The way his eyes crinkled whenever he smiled, the amazing sincerity he had for everyone around him, and more importantly the heart of gold that he had the privilege to steal. "I want you in my life forever. I want to wake up with you every single day, I want to hear your voice all the time, and I want you to always be mine." Taking a deep breath, he quickly began to stand up, pulling his boyfriend up with him. "Forever is a scary word but when I think of you and the future, forever isn't scary. You're the one person I want to spend the rest of my life with. And yea, we're young and I'm still an idiot but I'm completely sure about how I feel. You're my everything, you're the love of my life and I'm confident that you always will be. We truly are written in the stars, we were meant to be together and I want it to be forever." With a shaky hand, he pulled away from his boyfriend and reached into his pocket for the box he had so skillful hid the entire night. With a huge grin and tears already forming in his eyes, Ryan knelt down on one knee, like billions have done before, and held out the small box with the ring he worked so hard to pick out. "Reese Bennett..." He paused, trying to find all the confident he needed. "Will you be mine forever?" He finally asked as he desperately awaited an answer.

Reese watched Ryan with a smile, waiting patiently until the blanket was down before taking a seat and turning to face him. “Ugh, yes, cookies,” He said with a small groan of excitement, waiting until the package was in front of him before grabbing one and taking a bite. “Champagne?” He questioned after he chewed and swallowed, not asking anything else after that because he liked what Ryan had planned already. Reese trusted Ryan had a good reason to bring such a drink, so he let it be, excitement still flowing through him as Ryan moved closer. “Mhm,” He hummed with a nod, turning his head to look at Ryan, “You asked me to prom.” He bit down on his bottom lip to fight a wide smile, leaning against his boyfriend, “It was also the first time you told me you loved me.”
Ryan took a nervous breath, looking over at his boyfriend with the most sincere smile. "I know I say it all the time, but this place is incredibly important to us. We have so many memories here and so many monumental moments in our relationship happened here." He began to explain, looking up at the sky for a moment. "Another thing I always say is that our love was written in the stars and I still believe that today." Returning his gaze to his boyfriend, Ryan reached out for his hand. "Remember how I took you through every base and explained how much you truly meant to me?" He questioned while holding that strong smile. "Nothing has changed except for the fact that I now feel even stronger about our relationship and how much I love you."

Closing the driver side door, Reese inhaled deeply again before rounding to the other side and immediately sliding his hand into Ryan’s, “Sounds perfect, let’s go.” He caught his lower lip between his teeth, chewing on it anxiously as they started walking, swinging their hands slightly between them as he looked around. There were so many memories for both of them that took place at the field, a smile sliding onto his face as all of them started coming back to him, one by one, as they continued on. “We need to do this more often, I miss it,” He spoke after a few beats of silence between them, looking over at Ryan as they got the pitcher’s mound, squeezing his boyfriend’s hand.
Making it to the mound, Ryan immediately placed his basket down and opened it up to reveal what was inside. Pulling out a blanket, he threw it up in the air and watched it unfold onto the ground. "You are now free to sit down." He said with a huge grin, sitting down a moment after. Reaching into the basket once again, Ryan pulled out an entire package of cookies. "This is the only important snack we need." He chuckled before placing it in front of his boyfriend and smiling directly at him. "We also have champagne but that is for later." He smirked, hoping that his big surprise was still completely unknown to the other boy. "And now, we relax and eat while you listen to me talk for the next three hours." Scooting closer to Reese, he wrapped an arm around the boy's waist and kissed him gently on the cheek. "So, do you remember the first time we were here?"

Every time Ryan spoke it just made Reese even more excited about what the night was going to bring, or rather what Ryan had planned. He had already been beyond thrilled at the idea of just hanging out with him for a night without any interruptions or distractions - just the two of them. They hadn’t even made it to the baseball field and Reese was already blushing ducking his head before looking over and smiling at him, tongue poking out from between his teeth before turning his eyes back to the road. “It is really nice out,” He commented with a nod, looking out the window as he pulled into the small parking lot just next to the baseball field. Cutting the engine, Reese tugged on Ryan’s hand as he leaned over to press a kiss to the boy’s lips, smiling into it before pulling away and moving to get out, immediately sucking in a deep breath as soon as he got out of the Jeep.
Leaning into the surprise kiss, Ryan couldn't help but smile against the boy's lips. Their kisses were so full of passion and love that he could never handle them. Taking a deep breath, he opened his door and stepped out of the car, admiring the beautiful night. "Ah, it's been too long." He said quietly as he looked around at the familiar baseball field. The field that held more memories than any other place. Their time here was completely cherished and he was ready to add more to it. "Alright, I have a blanket and some food and a bottle of wine for us. We're going to be the most romantic, cheesy couple that we could be." He laughed while grabbing his basked of goodies and walking over next to Reese. "Let's go to the pitcher's mound." He suggested while reaching out for the boy's hand.

"Not possible," Reese countered with a wide smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he looked over at Ryan. It was the smile that was specifically for his boyfriend. It really only happened when they were together because yeah, he enjoyed the texts and the phone calls, even the occasional skype video chat. But nothing beat the real thing. As soon as their hands were laced together he squeezed the other boy’s fingers, bringing his hand up to his lips to brush them across his knuckles as Ryan held up a CD. He raised an eyebrow at him before the smile returned, "You didn’t…" There was a blush high on his cheeks, warming his face as the familiar song started to play through the speakers of his car. It was so damn cheesy and so Ryan that it made him feel like his heart was going to burst from how much he loved this boy. His heart was trying to find a normal beat again as he waited for Ryan to answer, admiring him with a fond smile and anxious fingers playing with his. The baseball field. Tonight had to be something extremely special for Ryan to pick there but he didn’t question it, just put his car in drive and headed down the familiar roadways towards their destination. "Yeah?" He had been driving for a minute or so before he said anything, "I can’t wait." And he really couldn’t. He could barely sit still in the seat, shifting slightly every so often from pure excitement, the smile on his face wide and bright.
The anxiety was growing with every moment that passed. Ryan had spent hours in his room plotting this entire night. He wasn't sure how he was going to go about it at first so he searched online for the best idea. After more pointless hours of nothing, he finally decided it would be best to go where it all started. It was definitely cheesy but more importantly nostalgic. They had so many important moments there and that's why he chose it. "I'm just excited to be here with you right now, I can't say enough how amazing this night is going to be. It's going to be almost as special as you are." He explained while trying his best not to shake nervously. His whole body was tensing up as they grew closer to their destination. "I'm extremely grateful that it's actually a beautiful night out, this was truly meant to be." He said with a laugh before turning and smiling brightly at his beautiful boyfriend.

The music from the radio was Reese’s focus as he waited for Ryan, looking around at the campus and the people that were walking around. It made him want to get out of high school already, even though he didn’t hate it it wasn’t like he was having the best time either - especially without Ryan. Eleanor was still there, but what was he supposed to do the next year when everyone was gone and he was still a senior? He turned his attention away from the groups of people and towards the building, his mood immediately lifting as he watched his boyfriend come outside and make his way towards his car. The smile on his face probably couldn’t get any wider, his heart pounding out of pure excitement because it was different now, not seeing Ryan everyday made him appreciate the times he did get to see him. Which was probably why he was so anxious about their night together, but as he continued to get closer, Reese could feel them start to fade away and get replaced with excitement and happiness. All things that weren’t exactly foreign when it came to being around Ryan.
Reese immediately reciprocated the kiss, sighing into it because even though it had been a couple of days, he missed that. He missed a lot of the little things that they used to do when they lived together, but everything was so much sweeter, and in some cases better, now. Keeping their lips pressed firmly together for a moment, he pulled away with a bright smile, “Hi. I missed you.” He said because that was pretty much a greeting for him now since he did miss Ryan every time they were apart. “How are you?” He asked as he leaned back a little bit so he could fully look at him, taking him in. It was then he noticed what he had in his hands, raising an eyebrow, wondering exactly what his boyfriend had planned for the night. Just because he knew them well enough, he had a feeling it had something to do with their usual nights spent under the stars. And even if they’ve done it countless times in the past, each time was different - special. Wanting to just touch his boyfriend, his hand found his and he laced their fingers together, squeezing them together over the console as he looked at him again, “So, where are we headed?” He asked as he adjusted himself back in the front seat, getting the car ready before pulling out of the parking spot.
Ryan smiled ecstatically at the sound of his boyfriend's voice. Obviously he had heard it over the phone every single day, but in person was different. He was together with the one boy who mattered. "I missed you so much more, babe." He replied as he immediately reached for the boy's hand. Ryan took out a CD he had made for this special occasion and put it directly into the player while he smirked over at his boyfriend. "I made this and it has all our faves on it." He explained before looking out the window for a short moment. Before answering Reese's question, he turned his head to admire the boy next to him. This was such an important night and Ryan wasn't sure if he could actually do this. He needed to be confident in not only himself but the relationship these two shared together. "Well, I think we should go to the only baseball field." He answered with a huge grin. He wanted to go back to where it all began. To the place that had the most meaning for the both of them. Their first base, the prom proposal, they always came back to the spot. "I have something extremely special for the both of us." He squeezed Reese's hand tightly as the excitement continually grew.
