I got a chance to see The Rise of Skywalker again. After listening to a ton of discourse on the movie I will agree that it's dumb, rushed, and safe... But I still really liked it. I still found it to be a visual treat. I enjoyed the acting. The new characters are great additions. All of the characters get a chance to do something. I will say the dialogue and the jokes are more painful the second time around and the movie never pins down what it's trying to say. At any rate, I still found the movie to be a fun time. I just finished spending the week watching the Skywalker Saga, culminating with The Rise of Skywalker. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and, if you can manage it, I would suggest watching all the previous movies to feel the full impact of the story. There's a lot more connective tissue between the movies than I thought there was. As for the The Rise of Skywalker I thought it was a fitting end for the trilogy. All of the characters get a chance to do something, it hits it's emotional beats well, and the visuals are impressive. DUDE. Frozen 2 was some good stuff! It has everything thing I want out of a sequel. It expands on the world they set up in the first movie, it isn't afraid to go silly or dark while balancing those tones, and all the characters have grown because of the events of the movie. I like the songs better in this one and enjoyed the visuals more. I definitely liked this one more than the first. I saw Zombieland: Double Tap yesterday and it is in fact more Zombieland. If you liked the first one you'll like this one too. It's a fun zombie comedy and it was fun to have another movie with these characters. Wood Harrelson's character was a highlight of the movie. I regret not seeing it in 4DX when the movie is designed for it. I had a great time at my first synthwave concert last night! I saw Bob Sync, Niq V, Malibu Nights, and PatternShift. PatternShift whipped out the keytar which made for a great live show. I saw Joker and it was interesting. It's a beautiful movie with a lot of memorable shots. As a warning, it's not a sympathetic portrayal of mental health. My biggest complaint is that he is not a very driven character, which gives the movie a slow pace. It's entirely buildup with no payoff. The Witt Lowry concert was fantastic! @itswwamusic was an amazing opening band and @xuitcasecity rocked it as well. @wittlowry killed it and the live show was just as powerful and emotional as his albums. I enjoyed IT Chapter 2. Overall I think the first one is a better movie but this one is still enjoyable. The adult cast is great and does a good job feeling like their younger counterparts. The pacing is pretty good despite the movie being pretty long, although it didn't need to be as long as it is.
