Maringka’s Prayer
Noora, my little girl,
Are you cold, lonely, hungry?
My thoughts foster your body.
You’re inside me.
Noora, my little girl,
Follow the water’s flow.
Smell the sweet acacias,
Listen to the swinging red gum trees.
Follow the tracks of rainbow glow.
My little girl,
Come home.
White pelican and black duck be her guide.
My three beings
Stay on her side.
Noora, my little girl,
Follow my song.
Our suffering is too long.
Noora, my little girl,
Come home.
Lyrebird
I’m the largest songbird in the whole world.
I’m the lyre, tuned in harmony ever heard.
Long and strong with a silver canopy the beauty of majesty,
A wit vanity holds surprising fantasy.
Would you like to hear notes from Brahms?
(He opened his lace-like feathers)
“Lalala Lala La”
(Bowled gently)
How about a penguin, or a pigeon sound?
Would you like to hear a loud chainsaw or the shutter of a camera?
Truly, I know you can’t keep up, don’t confound,
I cover every note in the ground,
I also dance pretty awesomely.
The bird chirped and flapped his wings, circled his short legs begun to whirl.
How about a waltz from Straus?
Would you prefer to swing with The Blue Danube?
Or turn around with polka, you prefer polka-mazurka?
Find the notes in the rhythm, come join with me to swing.
I’m the largest songbird in the whole world.
I’m the lyre, tuned in harmony ever heard.
Long and strong with a silver canopy the beauty of majesty,
A wit vanity holds surprising fantasy.

A Star in the Milky Way
We’re the living spirits,
Our souls mended stitch by stitch.
To the rivers!
To the ocean!
To the land!
The healing nature
Is protecting our future.
For the rivers!
For the ocean!
For the land!
We always aspire,
Light the fire higher.
To the rivers!
To the ocean!
To the land!
We’re free, never expire,
No one dares to acquire.
For the rivers!
For the ocean!
For the land!
Walked from the dead land,
Rose over rafts and stand,
The king of the sky gave us a hand.
To the rivers!
To the ocean!
To the land!
Cause the canoe came down to our land,
From the Milky Way to command,
Expand the shiny strand,
Give us a hand,
Will forever stand.
All Aboard to Goolwa!
Mighty stars glimmer when the night grows dimmer,
Unveils the shimmer inside the dreamer.
I see a shooting star, will it light my way?
A shiny foam is coming down with misty ray.
Oooh! My emu flies down in a hurry.
She’s the one who radiates good vibes across the bay.
Clearing my worries, seeding hopes when I’m sailing down to Murray,
So, I should never call astray.
Red Mud – Renmark
“We’ll make the tyrants feel the sting
O’ those that they would throttle;
They needn’t say the fault is ours
If blood should stain the wattle!”
- Henry Lawson
Diamond Fire Tail
Waters of forever flow,
Braided rivers run far below.
Tell me where I should go?
I’ve been apart from home so long ago.
No one knows,
Alive or dead?
No one knows,
Only the emu.
I’ve gone and fled,
My heart is in the shed.
Milky-Way show me the sign.
Darling- Murray,
Cuddle me with soothing lullabies.
Calm down my butterflies.
I’ve gone and fled, My heart is in the shed.
Just one step, one more to add,
I hold on to my hopes each day.
Sailing, walking,
Curling down in the Murray.
Compass is beating my inside,
No reason to hide growing shadows,
I am riding in between throws.
Milky-Way flow me home.
Darling- Murray,
Cuddle me with soothing lullabies.
Calm down my butterflies.

Murray River
So, we must fly a rebel flag,
As others did before us,
And we must sing a rebel song
And join in rebel chorus.
-Henry Lawson
Dreamers had cocooned inside the flow of two rivers: Darling carved this land like the rainbow snake’s confluence with the Murray.
It is a breathtaking basin, the Milky Way with tracks of an emu. The great ancestor Ngurunderi paddled his canoe down the creek, trying to catch pondi—giant Murray Cod. He left tracks as he went. The pondi was wild prey and made a great wave with its tail to carve a weaving path wide and deep, creating the River Murray. It’s the river of many clans with many Dream stories. Is the great ancestor Ngurenderi still paddling on the red gum tree chasing pondi? Is the pondi weaving the rivers carving out many tributaries?

Lake Mungkuli – Lake Alexandrina
Come to my lake, listen to waves dancing with the wind,
Gently racing to brush the shore, reaching our soul.
Come to my lake, hear how the ancient flow nurtures me like the Murray.
That’s how I’ve attached to the waters, the ocean, and the land,
Like saltbush and red gum tree came together to crown me.
I’m inseparable, don’t try to pull apart my beauty.
Welcome to hear my song ‘til moon retired, and the sun is born.
Follow my waters, follow my lands, blessing the oceans.
Ebbs and flows, ebbs and flows,
It’s the timeless motions with a great fusion.
