Fuck it, no context BLOSC headcanons
•Mira's hair is naturally very curly/textured, she just straightens it for convenience. And the two lighter strands are poliosis.
•Booster is actually quite fit for a Jo-Adian. He puts in the effort when he trains.
•The blue cardigan Zurg wears in The Lightyear Factor is Buzz's. He stole it to mess with him but it turned out to be kinda comfortable.
•Buzz has chronic nightmares. His body adjusted to not need much sleep.
•Nebula's hair was reddish-purple burgundy before it went grey.
•More incidents involving LGMs have been reported since the events of The Adventure Begins happened. They seem to be more vengful and... bold, compared to before.
•If Buzz dies, the LGMs brain-die (if thats a word) too until someone enters the Uni-mind again.
•Speaking of the Uni-mind, when Buzz's energy replaced Zurg's, Zurg's energy couldn't just disappear, it must have went somewhere... guess where.
•XR can't spell "strawberry". He also can't draw full glasses of wine.
•Warp was born on Tradeworld.
•Warp has also never experienced phantom pains cause the robotic arm is directly connected to his nerves (he can't take it off). Yet.
•One (or both, havent decided yet) of Ozma's parents is a hunter.
Will add more eventually maybe
• Ozma's hair is naturally brown but she dyes it red sometimes and we can see the dye in various stages of wash throughout episodes
• Buzz's favorite food may be extremely spicy chilli the way Cosmo makes it, but his comfort food is oatmeal. The boring tasteless kind. He ate a lot of it as a kid and sometimes if he's really stressed he could empty like 20 boxes in a row
• Zurg wears eye makeup sometimes
• Buzz is pretty flexible in addition to his agility (toy story examples but it holds up i guess)
• Rocket is great at sword wielding as he's one of the few that took these optional training classes along with Buzz
Something I find curious in the show is how Zurg's minions and military forces are either insectoid aliens or themed after different types of bugs.
The Grubs being the clearest example and then we got the Hornets and their different models being themed or inspired in quite a variety of insects for their respective jobs:
The beetle variants mostly being self defense.
The wasps variant; winged pure-aerial units.
The tick variants that feed on information and harm the devices they feed on.
The mosquito variants that take DNA samples.
And there are certain species of larvae whose organs you can see thanks to their see through bodies like glassworms or fruit flies. A bit of a stretch but the Brain Pods could fit in here.
It makes me wonder if this was something present in his family that he adapted into his empire. The only members we know from his family are all females; his mother and grandmother, whom we can imply through some of Zurg's dialogs were in positions of leadership like the Emperor is which means they were preparing or setting Zurg to become a tyrant.
"If you want something turned evil, turn it evil yourself. That's what Nana Zurg always used to say to me. And she was plenty evil. (...) Nana Zurg would be so proud"
"At last I found it! Of all the evil bedtime stories my mother use to tell me. (...) What? An evil emperor can't have a mother?"
What sets them apart is gender. The family line seems to be matriarchal up until Zurg.
Some species of insects are ruled by females and in some cases they consume their mate after reproduction. It could explain why we never hear anything about Zurg's father or any other male relative. (Could also be due to him being a mama's boy overall)
Plus we know Zurg is organic (he consumes food and water, uses the bathroom and is affected by the blob ray in that one episode), his suit is more of an armor. Not too different from an exoskeleton or insects secreting a protective layer on their bodies.
Just food for thought.

The purple on Buzz is part of his skin
I've often wondered what the purple part is. Some kind of hood?
It's inspired by the snoods astronauts wear! Although it the BLoSC fandom we tend to refer to it as a cowl more often (as in a superhero cowl) since in show, that's what it resembles more closely.
Anyway there's some pretty good arguments for why it isn't a part of his skin. For starters, he does have an ear underneath it
He also seems to have a collection of different ones he can swap. In a flashback we see him wearing a different one with a seam down the middle in addition to his civillian clothes.
The current one he pairs with his civvies is different since it has no seam, but it's not the same as the one he has on along with his ranger armor since that is a part of his undersuit (and it's also much smaller than the others)
The real reason why he doesn't take it off in the show is so that he stays recognizable. Giving him hair would've strayed a bit too far from his image, which was already being pushed by putting him in normal non ranger clothes at times. But it's always been interesting what the in-canon reason could be, i mean he's been wearing it since he was a kid
Admittedly did take some time to grow on me i kinda dig it now, it reminds me a bit of how luchadors don't take their masks off. It's also a neat character quirk and adds some mystery.
Hm just noticed something odd

i like The Tick (2001) because while it's the typical adult humor superhero show, it feels like it laid the ground work for stuff like The Venture Bros and The Boys (it literally has an episode with an evil misogynistic media-appearence-obsessed Superman and their version of Starlight) and while it primarily handles it's commentary on stuff through comedy without getting too deep about it, it's still a pretty neat campy show
as for The Tick himself, 90% of his dialogue is made up of these overdramatic, confusing, illogical, comedic and vaguely lightyearism-ish speeches, which is extra entertaining if you have the right vision because it's like, what if Buzz fell on his head really hard. the blueish purpleish cowl and the blue eyebrows are the cherry on top
they would be evil besties
When & How did you get into Buzz Lightyear? This includes Toy Story & Star command!
i've always loved Toy Story (especially 3) and was happy to rewatch it anytime it popped up on TV along with the other Pixar classics.
since Buzz was my favorite and i had thought about the concept of a movie within a movie before, i was excited about Lightyear (plus, they gave buzz a cat). through the discourse i found out about Star Command.
because the country i live in didn't have a contract with Disney Channel at the time it would've been airing, and i was pretty young, i never got the chance to watch it on TV and may have not have otherwise found out it exists at all.
so i found out about the show i 2022 and have been in love ever since. although i always found him fun, Buzz never would have became one of my all time favorite characters if it wasn't for the depth BLOSC gave to his character.
lol what

Did you watch Toy Story 4 and 5? 4 did our man buzz dirty
Yeah, anytime i start talking about TS4 i end up ranting for hours — TS5 is a lot better in all aspects but i'm still not completely satisfied with Buzz's characterization at times.
The reason why i dislike the "Zurg is Buzz's father" thing isn't due to shipping reasons (although that does play into it a bit but not in the way that you think) but because it takes away from what makes their relationship in the show special.
They think like each other. They can predict each other's moves. Sometimes they come up with the same thing at the same time. They can even sense each other's involvement even if they are on the two opposite edges of the galaxy.
And the quick and easy conclusion to come to is that "well they are father and son, they must think alike", but that ignores the canon reasons given in the show which are so much cooler.
They've spent decades obsessing after each other. Studying each other's moves (Buzz said studying Zurg is his literal hobby). Looking for weaknesses to exploit, understanding what makes them who they are, learning details about each other's behavior that would be so easy to miss for anyone else. Isn't it so much cooler to think about how they grew to be alike not because they already were, but as a side effect to their all consuming and at times destructive obsession with each other? The subtle ways they have influneced each other... Buzz wouldn't be The Pride of Star Command without Zurg, and Zurg wouldn't be the Evil Emperor without Buzz Lightyear. They give each other their edge
And that's ignoring the fact that Zurg pretty much made fun of the idea that he could be Buzz's father (and he's most likely not human to begin with)
