Sabine nervously shifted from foot to foot as she waited for her que. The fae had been dancing for nearly a hundred years now but still found herself getting nervous right before every performance. She anxiously ran her hands over the front of her costume just as a three toned whistle sounded from the crowd. Her que. A broad grin tugged at her lips as she stepped out from behind the curtain separating her from the audiences sight. Show time.
Closing her eyes, Sabine allowed herself to get lost in the music as the court's musicians began playing. She moved elegantly to the beat, twisting and turning her body to the rhythm. When she danced, Sabine felt free. She tuned out the crowd around her and focused her attention solely on the music, attuning her movements to every crescendo and key change of the song. She felt beautiful. Graceful. Strong. This is what she was meant to do.
As the song slowed to it’s end, Sabine finished her routine with a curtsy. She basked in the applause coming from the crowd and the beginnings of a blush began to creep up the back of her neck as the adrenaline from her performance began to leave her body. Rising from her curtsy, the fae’s dark eyes met a wandering gaze among the crowd.
