It was impossible to accurately tell who was the witch behind this barrier. Was it that familiar, Bebe? The one who was clearly connected to the Dessert Witch Charlotte. Or was it Sayaka, someone who should already be dead. Or was it another witch entirely. From her quick words with the should be deceased witch, it seemed that she knew more than she let on. That she knew who the true witch was.
The longer this went on the more confusing everything about the ordeal became. Barriers normally had a connection to their host, influenced by their deaths and desires. But nothing about what she’s been seeing here would connect it to either of those witches. And now to throw a curveball at her, something that really did not belong here has made an appearance. Between signs of death, anguish and mourning stood a futuristic soldier. It was such a bizarre and outlandish sight that she felt that what she was seeing had to be real. But her reason would tell her otherwise. Whatever the case may have been it was still worth inspecting. Even if it was for only a brief moment.
Walking up to the man, she gave a quick look over him. Taking into account how he towered over her. Nothing about his presence came close to matching that of the barrier’s style, there was really only one thing she could say about his appearance here.
“Weird…”
The scenery abound, as far as their eye could see, spoke only nightmares. Monstrosities that made all he’d face seem... relatively normal. A chill crept down his spine; soldier, indeed, but human and prone to emotion under extreme circumstances all the same.
And there was little which could prove more unsettling than the present environment. Although with that fresh in mind, he had no intention of letting discomfort rule him. Spartans were trained for extreme combat, and that incorporated the rule over human fear; death was always risk, and they would show no such hesitation in stepping upon stepping into the battlefield, even if the odds were against them.
Movement notified him of another life-form - not one which blended with those nightmarish fiends, but a girl. In her adolescence, which made the appearance all the stranger. And she seemed to show... even less unease than he could feel rattling beneath his skin.
“You’re telling me,” he quipped, taking one further glance at the landscape. Back to her immediately afterwards. She couldn’t have possibly meant him, could she? They were the only normal ones here.
Shoulders rolled and the rifle in his hands lowered, its barrel aimed towards the ground, or whatever it was beneath their feet.
“Whatever this is, it spells bad news, and we better get out of here. Fast”.
