i don't know if i'm literally the last one to catch onto the fact, but i was rewatching the haunting of bly manor just now, and i just realized that before the kids locked dani in the closet, viola/the lady in the lake's doll was out in the middle of the carpet.

meaning: viola was in the house.

she was in the house, and had dani finished tucking them in and left for her own room soon after, they would've crossed paths and that would've been the end for her. so in their own weird way, flora and miles were actually trying to keep her safe, and it only came off as hostile because neither of them could explain their actions.

so yes--imagine being eight and ten respectively, and keeping such a big secret between the two of you because you just know that no one will ever believe such a wild story, and so you start putting your own safety precautions into place because if you don't, then who will, and if that isn't enough proof that flora and miles wingrave are a pair of absolute sweethearts, then i don't know what is
