Kazley Duff’s Guide to the Universe
Pt 1
bweirdoctober2025 day one: New OC! I made these two a couple weeks ago but I think they're my newest! Enthusiastic alien botanist Kazley "Cosmo" Duff (right) accidentally discovers extraterrestrial life after rescuing a human astronaut named Nova (left) from her crashed ship. They've been in my head a lot lately I should post about them more.
Formal clothes for them
having OCs is so cool... like yeah little guys in my head you do those things!!!
Show the people the fishes.
Yes commander
These are my fish 🙏 they’re the villains for a marine-life themed magical girl series my friend @urdearestdruid and I are making called the Knights of Nautilus
I will add more in depth lore later cause rn I’m tired
Tagging all their asses below the cut 🙏
What are the ages of each character? Just for reference
Oh hii!! Thank you 🥺!!
I'm gonna tell you their age at the _starting_ year of the main plot, because it varies throughout the story :3
The year is 1949
Clopin & Eugène : 30 yo
Jacques: 45 yo (if we count him objectively and not the silly "29th February only" way lol)
Paoul: 22 yo
Marc: 24 yo
James & Liliane (not connected, just same age) : 26 yo
Janvier: 25 yo
Manuel & Marie (would be if they were alive but they're dead): 47 yo
Aristide: 38 yo
Héléna: 34 yo
Lmk if there's anyone you were interested in that I forgot to mention lol! Tho I'm pretty sure I covered everyone who appeared here for now and is important to the plot...
Also now wondering why you're asking.... 👀👀
I was just curious, I thought Jacques was a lot older ngl 😭 that’s awesome though!!
«Tous ceux qui rest»
Dearly love this idea, tho the execution is quite dated 🙏 on topic of Jacques and his main plot self
I think your ocs are very cool and awesome 🙏 I would love to know The Lore…
HIII HELLO thank you for the ask!! Ik you came here bc of the homeless kids gang, so I'll tell you their Lore, but also!
I recommend to first check out this post that contains the basics of the lore overall, this one to know who Jacques is, and if you get really curious, this (Clopin's lore, aka the future Julien) and this (mostly about Manuel who's a secondary character to the part I'm gonna tell about now, but has some bits of the children's and Jacques' lore)
Now as for the homeless kids!
Basics
They appear only in the arc of backgrounds, as a part of Clopin's (Julien then) backstory and specifically a story of why is Jacques so important to him. The "homeless commune" (they don't call themselves that) is a group of homeless ability wielders children (mainly teenagers/young adults later) who are taken care of by two adults: Jacques and Manuel, who help them survive and educate them when possible. It existed roughly from 1929 to 1939, and Julien joined them in 1935th after Jacques accidentally rescued him from a life-or-death situation and persuaded him to stay with other kids while he's recovering.
Now, let's go over the members!
I need to note that, as my story is still developping, I haven't yet created all the characters that need to be there. So, keep in mind that in fact this commune is bigger than this! And for now, I'll just tell about the existing characters and dinamics between them
Michel
By the time Julien joins, the oldest kid there (he's 20 and most of the others were around 16-ish). He was actually the reason commune was founded, as he was the first one to meet Jacques. So, he basically grew up with them, from being the youngest to now helping adults to watch over the rest of them. He considers them all his family, and despite trying to be a responsible and helpful "older brother" to them, he's still a kid and is very afraid that he'll stop being one of them if he grows up . All of the kids who were originally there with him, managed to find a better place for themselves and left, and he really doesn't want to leave too, so he keeps deliberately failing at "finding a better place"
Magloire
A grumpy and whiny lil guy who's always unhappy about something. He “doesn't like” half of his comrades, but actually is super attached to them. He loves literature (only god knows where did he learn to do it in this environment) and aspires to be a poet. No actual knowledge on this part, it just comes from the heart, and he writes questionable quality poetry all the time (in the beginning, Jacques is the only person he shares it with, though later he grows confident enough to read it to all of his community). Is actually very self-conscious about, well, everything
You can guess he likes Jacques A LOT, given that Jacques is "a smart one", and is actually very very attached to him in the beginning. He liked to think of himself as "Jacques' favourite" (Jacques actually doesn't have favourites, but Magloire preferred to think he is the one), until Julien showed up and unintentionally "stole the spotlight". For that reason, he is very unhappy with Julien (tho later they find their common ground in rebellious discussions)
Stéphane
A former orphanage kid who ran away some time ago, due to frequent conflicts with his peers who ended up injuring him badly once (he lost all hearing in his right ear), so he fled for good. Is the embodiment of "my coping mechanism is making a joke about it". Adjusted to the street life very quickly, and is mostly very chill about it - it's more fun like this anyway. He's a very regular guy - likes to get in fights, show off how "cool" he is, mess with people for jokes, chill with his friends. Very unserious. But, despite that, he is actually considered by most as one of the older kids (mostly bc of how long he's been in the commune), and Jacques trusts him with keeping others safe and sound (because he knows that Stéphane does care about their community, and that he's actually very good with people and responsibility when he wants to)
Marcel
One of the newest members, joined about half a year before Julien did, after his mother left him alone for unknown reasons and he, taught by her that "you can't trust those people from government", ran away so he doesn't get taken by social services. He was found and brought in by Stéphane, and as a result - mostly hangs out with him. He doesn't want to accept that he's an orphan, nor that he's homeless, still clinging to the belief his mother will return and he'll go back to her, so he's not exactly trying to fit in the community and acts very hostile towards them sometimes. He doesn't trust Jacques, more out of "adults that aren't my mom and her friends are assholes" than anything. He also didn't like Magloire, so he was the one to start talking about how "Julien is Jacques' new favourite", which later resulted in a conflict between them all. However, he managed to chill a bit later in the plot and finally accept that he's a part of this community.
Ginette
A silly lil girl with strong autistic tendencies. Originally from an orphanage, she was constantly dragged between foster families, and constantly given back because she was "a nuisance" when people took her in with an intent to get a "helper" in the house. Eventually, she just left one of those and never returned because she got tired of all this shit, and was found by Stéphane. She's a bit of an oddball because she's not exactly engaging with the whole gang all the time, she's often off to some random places and no one knows where she is, but she is one of them nevertheless. She's known for her brutal honesty (she never picked up any masking, so she doesn't even think she should try to rephrase her thoughts), and between the kids, "Ginette said so" is sometimes a marker of how true is the fact. She is, aside from all that, just a very silly teen, she's obsessed with picking random clothes from anywhere she can, and pretty shiny things of all kinds, and she loves the company of her friends. She's friends with Marcel, because somehow they clicked together really well (mystery for all, honestly). She also likes adults very much, which is new for her, but she can't bring herself to let them actually care for her like for all other kids, because she doesn't want them to become "like all those adults before".
Malvine
Is not homeless. She got to an orphanage after her mother died, and, being in a horrible emotional state after it, couldn't find her place there. One day, she ran away on emotions, and got lost because she didn't know this part of the city well - and was found by Manuel, who comforted her and helped her find her way back. She liked him, and since he sometimes would appear in the area, she tried to talk to him again whenever she saw him, and in the process she learned about Jacques and homeless kids, and started hanging out with them. There, she finally found a community where she felt safe and needed, and adults she could trust after her mother wasn't there anymore. She got very attached to Manuel, and even dreamt he'd maybe want to adopt her (she knew he wouldn't, but still kept hoping). She is also the one who survived the background finale, and appears later in the main plot
Aaand a little bonus! Little relationship maps for all those guys
THE SILLIES OF ALL TIME??
I think Ginette is my favorite lol, this is awesome!!
Hiya your OCs seems so fricking cool but I was wondering if there was a post containing all their lore or like an intro post explaining the basis of who they are and why they're here etc. I tried looking through the rebellore tag but I didn't find like an intro post or anything (although my internet is shit and I'm very tired. I'm also new around here - got here like 5 mins ago so sorry if I'm just being stupid lmao)
But yeah do you have a post like that or alternatively would you be fine re-explaining it?
Mainly just wanna know:
- who are these characters
- what are they doing here (like what's the plot?)
- what's their relationship towards each other?
Also:
- can I give them a hug?
- who's your favourite?
- do you have like a webcomic or something?
- fav little detail about them that you want ppl to notice
- what devil did you sell your soul to so you could draw so good? (We all know hard work and effort is a lie and that all good artists made some kinda deal with the devil /j)
Okay yeah bye and sorry if this is a bit of a redundant ask your art is just so yummy and I bet your characters have a shit ton of lore :3
HELLO HIII so glad to have you on my page!! Hope you'll like it here long term!!
I sadly am lacking a proper lore explaining masterpost just yet, because I want it to be perfect and full and also not too long and fun to look at and maybe it should be different posts that are later combined and you get the picture (i'll make one some da I promise 😭😭😭)
SO for you and for all the fellow followers who don't know much yet, I humbly present an answer rn!
First of, there's 2 posts that go a little bit into the lore of _characters_ : Clopin and Jacques
1. What's the plot?
It's France, 1949, alternative world where aside from regular humans, there's a sub-specie to them who posess "supernatural" abilities - in some ways, they can manipulate the environment, other living things or themselves in the ways humans can't. They're a very small minority, so historically they met a lot of oppression, as humans thought them dangerous and first tried to eradicate, then cure, then control, and now aren't sure what to do with them next. The plot follows a group of social activists who are exactly ability wielders and try to better their societal stance.
Also, important to note - the history is alternative in some ways too, so there's no WW2 in my lore, and that's why people in the 1949 aren't all ptsd-ed (I mean they are, but for different reasons lol)
2. Who those characters are?
If we're talking in general - mostly social activists or gendarmes, and everything in-between. If we're talking personally abt the more frequently appearing ones, they are:
Clopin - a leader of a social movement that protects ability wielders. He was one of the two people creating it, he connects all the members and by now his work is mostly organisation and managing meetings/public performances of the movement. He'll also take on any random little task that needs to be done because this is his passion project and he literally lives for it. He also used to be that one little feral orphan guy you sometimes see on my page, named Julien
Eugène - second mc, and currently the head of a gendarmerie department that monitors the ability wielders' activity and particularly the movement. What's notable about him is that he's way too young for his position, has strikingly liberal views and was the first person in a while to _actually_ try and organise the department's work properly and move away from old rules, and that during the second arc of the plot he's developing a misterious "illness" no one can understand, which of course makes everything fall apart quite a lot
Jacques - one of Clopin's closest colleagues, kind of a strategist/advisor (mostly people just consult him on things bc he knows a frightening amount of everything). He's a very smart solitary person who also happened to posess an ability to read minds and a very mean attitude, so when people annoy him he has a habit of just looking through their thought for something to say out loud so they get offended and leave him alone. He's also that one character who used to be a very good person until a tragedy TM happened, and in the bg arc he's basically a caretaker for a group of orphans Julien's a part of
3. What's the relationships?
This one is haaard bc it requires souch more talking ! But let's do a brief one on the most notable pairs
Eugène & Clopin - not acquintanced now, but they used to be best friends as children. They fell apart somewhere in their late teens (there was A LOT going on), and then "Julien" as a person Eugène knew stopped existing, and Eugène believes him to be dead. Little does he know...
Clopin & Jacques - obviously, colleagues, but also a very tragic story of unspoken sentiments and broken relationships. Jacques was the person who basically saved Julien from dying alone on the streets back in the days, and they used to be pretty close in their own way, until the tragedy TM happened and they got into a big big ugly argument that resulted in a lot of their close people dying. Many years after, Clopin tried to come and apologise, but the words didn't work out and instead he accidentally invited Jacques to join the movement. They never talked about the past again, both are way too emotionally closed off to start.
Eugène & Marc - Marc's Eugène's adjutant, and they had a pretty okay relationship from the start. However, at some point Marc fell in love, and would've done nothing about it if not for the fact that Eugène so suddenly fell ill and needed all the support he could get, and Marc could as well be the reason he didn't die of the workload in that time. Later, when things got settled again and they grew VERY close in the process, Eugène also found himself having feelings for his now best friend. They're the "colleagues to friends to lovers", and the "sun x moon gays", and the "fell first/fell harder". I love them so much 🙏🙏🙏
Aaand now for the other questions!!

Somewhere out there there’s an alternate universe where instead of being called bardcore medieval remixes were called “knightcore.” And there would be a trend where people would go “nightcore version? Dude I thought you said knightcore version” and would start playing medieval remixes of anime songs. Anyway for just ten dollars a day, you could
It’s a tragedy that i wont let him make it through order 66
Meet my clone oc commander Toi. He served under Kham and his master in the clone wars. He’s a loyal soldier who would do anything to protect the republic.
OOOH THATS AWESOME I love Star Wars ocs, we should yap about them sometime
I LOVE MY OCS!!! ten thousand artworks of them forever
i don't usually go for crack fic, but there's something really beautiful about fic that takes a cracky premise and plays it utterly straight, to the point of genuine human pathos that's only enhanced by the sheer ridiculousness of what's actually happening
You don't like my domestic au? But I lobotomized the characters just for you :( isn't it so nice now that everyone's happy? They all talk and forgive each other 😊 they're getting married, you know. They're pregnant, you know. Time skip soon! Two beautiful kids. After they have them they will put aside all their passions. Maybe they will never go back to the coffee shop 🤭or university 😜. Maybe they will stay at home with their children. I made this world just for you. Isn't it domestic? Isn't it perfect? Look at how everyone smiles! I am smiling :) are you?
yeah whats that song where the guy goes "mambo number five" ?
Please spin this wheel and then this one to build your very own generic sci-fi/fantasy book title e.g. ‘A Sea of Mist and Moonshine’ ‘The Fellowship of Thieves’ ‘The Buffalo Engines’.
Rerolls are ok but you have to tag what you settle on it’s the law!
