Hey there!! If you're still up for answering furniture/decoration questions, i'd be honoured to get your advice. Do you know any ways to make big rooms seem less empty, but with only a small amount of actual furniture? I'll be moving into my first home later this year with a minimal budget and next to no possessions to my name, and i have no idea where to start. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! đ
I honestly love this look so much!Â
a) embrace minimalism! feel the space! fill it up w/ music or art-making or friends!
b) that gets old pretty quick. I would hang really interesting art on the walls! some artists Iâm currently loving are Thomas Hedger, Llew Mejia,  Agathe Singer, Fucci, doris freigofas, and dominic kesterton. If you have a minimal budget, you can make your own art! when i moved into a big house with no belongings I bought a ton of stuff at the dollar store, haha.Â
c) rugs! rugs make a room look so much more put together. I really love this big round jute rug, itâs cheerful but still minimal! if plain/neutral is more your style, this is great and a really good price.Â
d) display the few belongings you have! these floating shelves are really cheap and cool. iâve always liked the idea of these weird corner shelves too.Â
e) PUT. PLANTS. EVERYWHERE.  This is a fake plant bc I canât keep real plants alive.Â
f) hang temporary wallpaper! it speaks for itself and makes a space look loved and lived in. i like this eggy retro one, but this rifle paper co floral knock off is amazing too.Â
g) make sure your furniture matches and/or looks intentional together. for example, if you have a yellow chair and a black couch, maybe sew up some yellow pillows to put on your couch to tie it together. Or have a throw blanket that has both of the colors on it.Â
lastly, i know you didnât really ask this or insinuate it, but please remember you donât have to have lots of things to look successful or accomplished. i was raised pretty poor (like, family sponsored for christmas poor lol) and when i moved into my own house, i thought i had to fill it with things or i would âlook poorâ. it worked for awhile. i do like owning things and donât advocate throwing everything away or . but i highly recommend embracing what you have and learning to love living with exactly what you need! at this point i hate tchotchkes and only want functional, usable things in my home.Â
